Getting ready for soccer.. final 2 outdoor games today.

It’s freezing.

I purchased the same under armor cold gear items as I always do, for T this year.. BUT this year I bought a larger size hoping they would carry over to early Spring...
The problem with that? He puts his hands in his sleeves!! His coach yells at him, I yell at him.. and he continues to do.. I don’t even think he realizes until he hears someone yell..
So, I’m trying to layer up other shirts and not let him wear that one today.

My brilliant idea of “he’ll get more than 3 wears out of it!” wasn’t actually so brilliant. 😡

An ATOMIC clock?! :jawdrop: Gee, I got gyped -- I only have an automatic clock. ;)
Atomic clocks are what they call Automatic clocks silly! :hilarious:

Atomic clock
An atomic clock is a clock device that uses an electron transition frequency in the microwave, optical, or ultraviolet region of the electromagnetic spectrum of atoms as a frequency standard for its timekeeping element. Wikipedia

It's ok, I can see well enough that it isn't stopping me from doing anything that I want to do, just frustrating. This has been one awful year. My retirement accounts lost 4K in value in one month... almost 6K for the year. (in that super strong, never been better economy I keep hearing about) My health though not life threatening has been one thing after another. Now it appears that the rental complex is attempting to push me out because I have one of the last, non-upgraded apartments in the complex where the turnover has been so high that they have been able to update all but 30 apartments (out of 147) in the past year and a half. Also in their highly intellectual management procedures have over half of them still empty. All they have done is cosmetic things that in some cases, was not needed just to justify the $200 to $300 per month increase in rents. They are only offering a 6 month lease now and are able to raise the rent every 6 months. So it looks like I am going to have to start looking for another place to live. That's how they treat someone that has been here for 8 years, paid my rent on the first of the month every single month that I have been here. Do some of my own repairs in many cases and have never had anyone complain about me nor have I complained about anyone else. I have been very low maintenance, but, I don't pay as much as the new apartments do. So one more disruption in my life is here again. I'm getting tired.
I'm so sorry to hear that, that stinks would be just a bit too polite to describe your situation maybe now you have an excuse to move just a bit farther south;) Good luck and be careful about who you deal with

Just received an email that the youth (8–10) club director will be observing our first game today.

I’m so curious to see what happens come January.. final supplemental tryout is this coming Wednesday..

I talked to one of the club coaches at T’s school basketball tryouts last week... he confirmed that there will be a lot of movement between teams before Spring (starts in January). I’m waiting and watching. Definitely not a fan of this, even if it’s not my kid moving around.

Started reading and then went to 85. By the way, they should not be proud of the amount of tolls collected on the GSP over one weekend. You guys in NJ are way over-taxed as it is.
According to some of my relatives that were around before the GSP Essex county was never supposed to have tolls because of the way the land was acquired. It seems they started popping up little by little over the years:rolleyes:

Oh yeah, I don’t know if I mentioned this last week., we went straight from soccer tryouts, to basketball tryouts.. still in his soccer practice uniform.

Basketball wasn’t really tryouts.. more of an assessment to try to evenly spread the teams. Neat fact- Every 3rd grader with the exception of one, is playing basketball this year. I think that’s pretty neat. The one who isn’t playing has a broken arm.. which is sad.. but how often does all but one kid play the same sport? I think it’s great!

Yesterday was a busy day at my house. We went to our local dead mall to dee The Nutracker. And when I say dead, I mean dead. Look. This is at 2 pm on a Saturday.
View attachment 324141
The busiest spot at the moment was the Auntie Anne’s that we had just purchased pretzels from. Very sad. No more anchor stores. There is an American Eagle, Payless shoes, Vicoria Secret,Kay Jewelers, and Bath & Body Works that were open on that side. The other stores were a nail and hair salon.

In any case we all really liked the movie. The story is different from the ballet production. I usually don’t like when stories are changed, but I was fine with it. It was a fantasy film. I think Christmas time would have been a better release time for it though.

In the afternoon the cheer teams at the school youngest goes to showed off their new routines. Youngest’s group was fantastic. Best they had done since they started learning the routine.

Wow!!! Even our somewhat dying local mall isn’t nearly that bad on a Saturday afternoon (at least not the last time I was in there on a Saturday several months ago)...!!! :cyclops:

Speaking of which, DWifey was in the mall a little while back and noticed the clothing store I used to do the closers at is closed permanently at that location. Wondered why I hadn’t heard from him in a while. He’s also not the type to communicate such information unless he needed me for a shift, then he’d tell me where they moved.
But, none of that this time, so I’m wondering if he just finally had to completely call his business quits...?
Sure hope not, but, I texted him and have heard nothing back, yet. Hope to hear back at some point...we’ll see.......

I never understood the fuss about Woolworth but I miss Ben Franklin stores. There are still a few around but they are few and far between:(
The first job I had after I was discharged from the Air Force was the manager of a Ben Franklin Store. Can't say I enjoyed it much. Retail sucks! When I started Vermont still had Blue Laws in affect which meant stores had to be closed on Sundays. That was a good thing, but, within 6 months of taking the job... they abolish the Blue Laws. I abandoned that career and went to Advertising and Publishing. (Not much better). :grumpy:
