Good grief, Charlie Brown! I think the best thing is for online courses, so that no one will see what your outfit du jour will be! :p

(When I was in grammar school, we had uggo uniforms and we all hated them--the nuns picked them out . . . :cautious: ). In (public) high school, I was ecstatic to wear the latest styles, but we did have restrictions on skirt length, no jeans, etc., but it was basically more common sense rules. Plus, my parents would never let me go to school if I was not dressed appropriately.
I wore an ugly uniform. Boys nany pants and polo but it wasn't public school. Both my DD and I are beyond conservative

What the policies are going to be is gender neutral. Orientation neutral. Expectation equal. Basically covering chest and tushie No wording on specific clothing items their tightness loose or sheerness or sleeves. No offensive prints.

Well, I would never let my kids wear anything inappropriate for sure...but there IS a double standard when it comes to dress codes. Those examples I listed were only for girls...boys would wear tank tops, and shorts that weren't as long. And shorter shirts. They couldn't wear hats, and no explicit things on their tshirts...but a playboy bunny was acceptable. There's nothing inappropriate about a girl wearing a tanktop when it's hot outside as long as everything is covered. My daughter loved sundresses and up until this past year, I could not get her in pants. Dresses every day....in the winter, we just popped a plain white long sleeved shirt under the dress and a pair of leggings so she'd stay warm, but when it was warm out, she could just wear the little strappy dress...not at all promiscuous or inappropriate, but it would not have been allowed in my school. Now, when it's hot, she has some shorts...they aren't booty shorts or anything, but they certainly don't pass her fingertips...I don't see anything wrong with them. But I don't need someone else to tell me what is inappropriate.
I can see that sometimes they have to go slightly overboard to prevent major problems. I don't really know the type of clothing you're talking about, and I surely to do not think your daughter is flaunting anything, however, the thing that I found the hardest to do is remember what pubescent boys and girls are affected by with the hormone changes that they are going through. Puberty isn't an automatic kick into self control and good judgement when it comes to natural instincts.

This reminds me of something that one of my high school teachers shared with us. She said that people who continually use "cuss words" in their conversations are either too ignorant, or too lazy, to come up with more creative, descriptive words. Quite frankly, I think I've fallen into both of those camps, at one point or another. ;)
I'm sure we all have. My father was a truck driver and later the manager of a trucking company. We lived right next door in a company house. I was over there constantly. The language I heard would curl your hair and my father was as much involved in those conversations as anyone. However, looking back, I do not recall those words ever being said in our house or in front of my mother or in any mixed company. Words themselves mean nothing really, they are just words. When and how they are used defines culture, class and respectability, in my opinion.

Good Wednesday morning. I just got a call from the Dr. all my tests came back "normal". For a 69 year old woman. That's what the Dr. said, she says it's "old age". Nice.....So sorry about the trouble in Texas, it looks really horrible. To all those in that area, stay safe. I love that so many people volunteered with their boats. IMHO, Red Cross was another failure. That has happened every time since I was a kid. I donate to the Salvation Army in cases like this. They were there when "all hell" broke lose. Kudo's to those who gave up their homes, helped in the water and did other things, sight unseen. I've been watching the local channel since this all started. So glad it's almost over for the flooding, now the clean up and restore the lives of people affected. Off for now. I'm not sure if I can keep up on here. My glasses need replaced, and it will take three weeks, minimum. Good day to all. Thanks for all the well wishes and prayers and kind thoughts. :inlove::inlove::inlove: to all

I got to work from home for the first time yesterday. My lungs did not like the transition to 65 and rainy MD after being in Florida. Anyway, it was nice, but distracting. And by distracting, I mean there were two furballs following me around. Both of whom would jump on my lap or walk across the keyboard at random, and one of whom decided she wanted to be on my face. Which then meant I couldn't see.

And then when I wasn't working, I was followed, mostly by the smaller furball. Didn't matter where I was; eating, relaxing, sleeping (we all took a nap during my break on my bed), showering, I was followed.

The small furball has been allowed to sleep with me the past two nights. Mostly because she cries if I shut her out, but she's also been well behaved. They tend to figure out quickly that if they don't settle, they get tossed out. Though I usually shut the small furball out for a bit and let the big furball get some time with me to herself and settle where she wants, and then I let the small furball in.

I agree, there is a double standard. Thankfully, I went to school in an area where the policy was fairly equal. Both boys and girls had to have fingertip length shorts (never an issue for me; my shorts look very short but are always fingertip length because I'm short), boys weren't allowed to wear tanks at all, girls could as long as the straps were three fingers wide. I used to get around that policy with a shrug or cardigan over the shirt; they said nothing as long as it was on. Actually, where I lived, it was usually the boys getting in trouble, usually because they wore a tank top or their pants were hanging too low. In middle and high school, you had to wear your gym uniform if your clothing was inappropriate. Good deterent; no one wanted to wear their gym uniforms.

There are always exceptions to the rules :cautious:
I have a very large vocabulary of "smut mouth" phrases . The trick is knowing when to use them. Generally they are dragged out when trying to fix cars.

My Dad was a construction contractor. The worst I ever heard him say was d*me and he had to be very angry. Likely I can count on one hand when he swore in any way. My kids didn't hear their Dad use questionable vocabulary either. I knew my Mom would knock my teeth down my throat if I spoke that way ever. I've heard my son use a more vulgar word once. We had a powerfail over night and we were all very late getting up and he was awol already when I woke him up (thank goodness of iPhone alarms now) out came that word when I told him what time it was.

So I get the working on car thing and not part of your normal vernacular. I believe that is when people loose quantity of their vocabulary when their daily life consists of sentence after sentence of smutty conversation. My thought anyhow.
