We had a few monster hot dogs after the walk (I don't know where they got these things from, but they were huge), then we had some cheese, crackers and meat (sorry, forgot to get a pic :cyclops:) at the winery, then homemade chicken pot pie for dinner...! :hungry: :)

That would be more worth it. Did I tell you that they had a Vermont Maple Syrup booth at the North Carolina State Fair this year? A farm in Barre, Vermont had relatives that lived here in Raleigh so they shipped up a huge amount of Maple Product and sold it at the fair for $60.00 a gallon. :greedy: Made me wish I had hauled a few Maple trees up here when I moved. I just cannot imagine that price. Once it hit $10.00 a gallon years and years ago, I stopped buying it. It's good, but, it's not that good. At least not to me.:grumpy: And people get upset about $3.00 for a bottle of water. At least the water won't push one towards diabetes.

I knocked out 3 gifts today with the LL Bean sale -- father-in-law, one of my brothers, and a gift for hubs. Decided to join the party, so I bought myself a new down jacket! :hilarious: (Credit cards are wonderful things . . . :p ) Oh, I was surprised that they actually discounted an item from Under Armour that I picked out for hubs -- I thought they'd only discount their L L Bean brand, but apparently not.

Real maple syrup does contain antioxidants and other good for you things like riboflavin, zinc, magnesium, calcium and potassium and has a better glycemic index than refined sugar. Not that it should be consumed in high quantities or be seen as a health food but at least it has something good in it. So a little every once in awhile isn't so bad.

I will admit the prices are pretty crazy for it though, we are lucky that we have some friends that make maple syrup every year and give us some. We don't use a whole lot so I have a couple pints in our cupboard.
