Ivory Tower Squabble EST 2011. WINDMILL SURVIVOR
In other news, very eventfull day.
My mother had an accident. She confused her eye drops with super glue :| (how did she, I have no idea, as the bottles are completely different). And squeezed quite a bit of glue in her eye.
Good thing I was still awake playing computer when she told me about her issue. Her eye was in VERY BAD SHAPE.
She was very stubborn and had to push her to call her doc (really why they do this? ) The doc recommended her some liquid drops to slowly let the glue drop.So I went for the medicine.. kinda annoying as one of the pharmacies closed their doors on my nose as they were closed down. Had to drive way farther....Anyway the drops Didnt work very well, my mother told me she was hurting and that she wanted to go the doc later on. She called the doc again and told me we had to wait a few (the doc was going to do surgeries at 5:00 am, so he told us to be at 4:00 in the hospital)
So we did, we drove almost all the way to the city and waited.
The doc had to use some pliers and some eye surgery tools to remove. Turns out she had some glue crystals floating around AND the glue in her eyelids were irritating her eyes even more.
So he removed them and gave different kinds of drops.
THEN I had to again be awake for english class XD
Suffice to say, I only ate and dove to my bed and just woke up 30 minutes ago :O

My mother is doing a bit better, still embarrased and angry. As she shad to pay the doc.. and we are driving this monday to go to our family vacations (first time its possible since 15 years ago, aka me, my brother, my sister and mom going somewhere).

Will post lots of photos when I return as usual.

Oh Dear. It took me a few deep breathes to get past the first two sentences. She isn't the first person I've heard of that has done that with superglue. I guess what I don't get is why people would keep superglue and eye medicines in the same area of a home???? We have both but neither are remotely close to be being kept close to each other.

believe it or not...
The doctor (eye specialist) says its very common for elderly people to confuse their eye drops.
He said he sees at least 1 similar case once a month.

In other news, anyone seen the video of the new World of Color for christmas?
The wizards in winters segment is insane!

Do you have a link? The qualities posted for these are so different. Sounds like you found a good one!

I did a little shopping today. I was hoping to get all my stocking stuffers bought but Target seemed to be out of a lot of stuff I wanted. Very frustrating. Although I went to Hobby Lobby and I got some fun stuff to decorate our stateroom on the cruise for under $20, which makes me happy because Disney will decorate your room for $80 and I got cool stuff for a lot less. You'll have to wait until my trip report to see the decor! I also knew that I was too tired to cook tonight so I picked up Chinese, hubby was really thrilled. He loves Chinese but we rarely have it.
I made hot and sour soup yesterday and I'm making Sesame or orange tofu tomorrow:):hungry:

I thought of @figmentfan423 today as I went through Trader Joe's. In an end case there were organic pre-smooshed sweet potatoes and sweet potato pie. One year surely by not paying attention to what I was doing in the grocery store I bought sweet potato pie (we all hate) vs pumpkin pie (we love). All of us moving it around in our mouths, took me a while to realize what I had done, was blaming the bakers. :D :banghead:
I'm lucky my boys aren't picky eaters:) Seeing I cornered the sweet potato market we may have sweet potato pie instead of pumpkin this year or maybe both seeing pumpkin is more traditional. That's the type of tough decision I like to make:joyfull:

I do the exact same. Quick, easy, has a lot of great stuff, can do it in my p.js if I want and I avoid the crazy crowds. Can't beat that in my opinion.
Call me old fashioned but I like brick and mortar stores. There's something fun about going out and seeing how all the stores are decorated and listening to Christmas music while shopping. As for the crowds I avoid the worst of them by shopping early in the day:)

Just curious, and, I think I remember us discussing this here before, but...
The men's clothing store (again, men's probably a different price point) I do those occasional closers at (yes, it's been a while, 'cause he finally found some reliable help and hasn't needed my backup lately :)), used to charge $12 for a hem (both legs ;)) on slacks, $15 for a waist, and $18 for a leg taper.
I honestly can't remember if we all decided that was somewhere in the middle, expensive, or what...? :cyclops:
That seems about right but then again I haven't checked prices in a while

Spent the latter part of the mornin' doin' a 5K walk/run for Veterans from a VFW Post up in Georgetown, Texas, north of Austin, that DWifey's company sponsors. More great family time together for a great cause...! :)

General shots from around the VFW Post... :)

That was very nice. And, I happened to be watching the national news last night, and I saw some footage of a Veterans Day parade in Austin! (I looked for you in the crowd, but now I know why I couldn't find you--you were out walking!! )

That's insane, I hope you make sure her eye drops are in a seperate location when you get back and her eye doesn't bother her on vacation. Prayers and pixie dust

Bigger question.... Why would crazy glue be anywhere near eye drops? I can understand mistaking toothpaste with Preparation H or Mouth Wash with Shampoo. That one, however, has me totally bewildered.

O M G . . . my jaw dropped reading what happened to your mom. I'm glad she was able to finally get some medical assistance for her eyes. What an awful story. I hope she'll be better today.

So do I, but I shop both ways. (And I always shop local on Small Business Saturday, which is on November 26 this year. It's really helpful to support local, small merchants when possible.)

Thank you I'll let my MIL know because she wants a few things from there.

Great! It isn't often that they do a 20% off (it's just on their own name brand items though--they carry some other brands, but to a much lesser extent).

I'm lucky that I have one of their stores that I can get to (it's not as big as their flagship store up in Freeport). Sometimes I find things there and sometimes not. But it's still good to see certain items in person, because that can often influence my decision to buy or not (depending upon color, how the item is sized, etc.).
