Ivory Tower Squabble EST 2011. WINDMILL SURVIVOR
I had a cousin that ate onions like an apple. Needless to say... he never married!
Ewe. Vidalia onion are really sweet and smooth, I love them. Still not eating them like an apple or a tomato.

My standard order of a six inch sub on flatbread that's the lean oven roasted chicken is much healthier and fresh-tasting than McDonalds.
Ohio State pretty much kicks you out of the dorms after your freshman year, so almost everyone lives off campus (which, in most cases, is right across the street). Campus now has lots of options for food, and you can use your meal plan at most restaurants, but that wasn't the case when I was there. We would buy some stuff at the grocery store, but it wasn't convenient to get there, and it was cheaper just to go to McDonald's. We definitely weren't worried about being healthy back then either. Honestly, as long as I was thin, I didn't really think about what I ate much. Just a different time I guess. My college requires kids to have a meal plan if you live on campus. Ergo, if kids my age go elsewhere, they want the good stuff. The Outback down the hill from my school gets a lot of business from kids at my school on Friday nights. They also have what's called Flex Dollars that they can use at a few places around campus. Basically, that would be Subway, a pizza place, Qdoba, and maybe a few others. I couldn't even tell you where the nearest McDonald's around campus is. The kids at the college where I'll be taking Spanish is very much the same way (I can attest to this because a bunch of my friends go there).
I don't think it's so much that we have more money so much that it is that we don't want to eat carp. I bring stuff from home or I buy the good stuff. Kids who have apartment dorms or apartments do the same thing.

I must really love him.

I can't drink diet, but I love Cherry Coke. I don't drink it much at all anymore. Metabolism isn't quite the same as it was in college, and I actually (somewhat) think about what I eat now. Somewhat.I never leave Buffalo without a couple cases of Diet Cherry Coke!
Hubby can have his Yeungling. I'll take DCC. We can buy regular Cherry Coke here, but not diet.
Not that I was ever much of a drinker, but I do recall having Diet Cherry Coke with cherry brandy as a teenager. (19 is legal here - ha!) Talk about cherry/sugar overload. Not as bad as the Manischewitz my mom used to mix with ginger ale though. Ugh!
Hmmm ... might be why I don't drink now.
I can do that. I don't like a lot of healthy food, but I love tomatoes.Hubby eats tomatoes like apples. I have to leave the room!

Same here. MANY younger students here have a FLASHCard (college debit card) that mommy and daddy have loaded up with money so they themselves don't have to pay for anything. I never had that option. The restaurant I worked in gave us one free meal per shift otherwise I ate a lot of ramen noodles, popcorn and kool-aid.Teens and college kids now must have a lot more money than I did at that age. I lived on McDonald's, Taco Bell, Ramen and this super cheap Chinese place next to my college apartment. Nothing healthy about any of it, but I survived.![]()

I don't even know what a carnita is, nor do we have any Chipotles.
Heck, our only Taco Bell "made a run for the border" more than a year ago.
I'm thinking Mexican Tex/Mex must not be that popular here in the Great White North.
some of your tomatoes have a severe case of personality crisis. They seem to think they're pears![]()
When I was a kid... my mother used to give me tomatoes in my lunch box when I went to school. She would also include little shakers of salt and I would eat them like an apple. That was back in the days when they didn't taste like plastic. They were flavorful and sooooo good. Now they have spent so much time trying to make them last longer and tough enough to handle shipping... the flavor has gone away.Hubby eats tomatoes like apples. I have to leave the room!

I used to be able to buy Cherry flavored Vodka. Mix that with Coke and you had a wonderful smooth drink that kicked like a mule. And not a happy one either. They may still have it, but, it has been years since I have been in a liquor store.Diet Cherry Coke/Diet Dr. Pepper YUM!!!!
