There ya folks, a non-partisan account of how Canada is not all igloos and ski hills.I was on that road a few years ago in that stop and go section when I came the closest that I have ever been to watching my life flash before my eyes. I was stopped in a line and I happened to look in my rear view because I heard a noise back there. It seems that a flatbed truck loaded with giant rolls of steal (probably headed for car manufacturers) must have dozed off or something because he hit, at full speed, the back of a small car and proceeded to push it directly toward me. I even braced for the hit. At the last minute it kind of moved slightly to the right and just missed my car by inches. As it passed by me on my right, it was so close that I could see clearly the poor young lady that was in the car. I can't even describe her facial expression as the truck pushed her severely shortened car past me. Just as the front wheels of the truck got even with my passenger door, the truck started to climb up the back of the car flipping the truck over on it's side and pinched the car forward and spun it around in front of the truck coming to rest just a few feet from the front of the truck that was now laying on it's side. I looked behind me and only a few feet away from the back of my car was a giant roll of steel. It would have crushed my car had it fallen off the truck just a few seconds later.
I think I didn't stopped shaking for a week. I don't think the girl was injured seriously, but, I can only imagine how in shock she was. The front compartment of the car did not seem to have any damage at all. When I left there were hoards of people climbing up the truck to see what had happened to the driver. I would have stayed to help if there had been no one else there, but, armed with my limited knowledge of emergency procedures, it was better that I just moved out of the way.
That's funny - whenever we get home from an all-inclusive resort in the Caribbean, tomato soup and grilled cheese is the only thing I crave. One of my favorite winter meals, ever since I was a little kid, is tomato soup and a grilled cheese sandwich.![]()
Teens and college kids now must have a lot more money than I did at that age. I lived on McDonald's, Taco Bell, Ramen and this super cheap Chinese place next to my college apartment. Nothing healthy about any of it, but I survived.![]()
Oh, I forgot pizza! I also drank Cherry Coke like it was water. Ahh, college. Good times.Yup, junk food, coffee, and aspirin. Haven't a clue how I survived either, but I'm still here and it's just so exciting!![]()

It was a long 4 years for me lol. I remember how excited I was when I got my first real paycheck after I graduated. That was a great feeling!Thank goodness I only went to a 2-year jr. college. I couldn't wait to get out into the work world and get a full-time job, so that I could buy myself a steak!![]()
At that point in time, I would have preferred the igloos and ski hills. There ya folks, a non-partisan account of how Canada is not all igloos and ski hills.
RedQuick question: Would you go for a yellow or red magic band?
for ohio state?
Haha! Didn't even think of that, but sure!for ohio state?![]()
Been there once. Never again.
I rarely go out for meals, so if I do go out, I would rather get something freshly made and more expensive than something cheap with questionable origins. If I need something cheap, my choice is usually Subway because it's still fresh, something from the grocery store, like freshly made soups, or something from home.
I think most people my age are of the same mentality. They may eat Ramen because they are trying to save money, but when they go out, I can guarantee it's not McDonalds or Taco Bell. Except for some of the guys. Maybe.
same! it reminds me of mustard... i'd prefer a paler yellow, but oh well.Haha! Didn't even think of that, but sure!
I like both colors, but I don't like the shade of yellow they use for the Magic Bands.
Yep, it does look like mustard. I like blue and green best of all the colors.same! it reminds me of mustard... i'd prefer a paler yellow, but oh well.
i'd choose green, but somebody has already chosen that color from my party :/
My college requires kids to have a meal plan if you live on campus. Ergo, if kids my age go elsewhere, they want the good stuff. The Outback down the hill from my school gets a lot of business from kids at my school on Friday nights. They also have what's called Flex Dollars that they can use at a few places around campus. Basically, that would be Subway, a pizza place, Qdoba, and maybe a few others. I couldn't even tell you where the nearest McDonald's around campus is. The kids at the college where I'll be taking Spanish is very much the same way (I can attest to this because a bunch of my friends go there).Teens and college kids now must have a lot more money than I did at that age. My standard order of a six inch sub on flatbread that's the lean oven roasted chicken is much healthier and fresh-tasting than McDonalds.Subway is healthier but it's really not.
Red. Any color is better than yellow.Quick question: Would you go for a yellow or red magic band?
I never leave Buffalo without a couple cases of Diet Cherry Coke!Oh, I forgot pizza! I also drank Cherry Coke like it was water. Ahh, college. Good times.![]()
