This is my concern with my dad. My sister thinks it will be fun with the new gondolas.. but I think my dad will be in too much pain after a day at the parks.
If she doesn’t want to pay for Poly then they should do a standard room at Wilderness Lodge or an Epcot resort.. there can’t be much of a price difference between a family suite and a regular room at any of those.
What should really happen IMHO is he should swallow pride and rent an ECV... they really are a godsend!

If she doesn't move her stay, I'd definitely suggest an EVC as well. The gondolas only get you to Epcot without a bon of walking, but even then it's the IG, so they'll have to walk pretty far to get to anything else. There's no way to avoid the walking. An EVC might be the best bet.

Make sure you’ve downloaded the My Disney Experience app to your phone. From there, you can see your room and dining reservations, make dining reservations, see FP wait times, etc. You can make other FP cancellations and choose new ones there too. It is a great app to help with your trip.
I have the app. and can see it on my desk top as well. I just didn't know how to see ones that might be available after I did my initial choice.

Thanks for all of the input on this Disney family drama.

Here’s the newest-

Sister stayed at AKL last time.

Growing up we always stayed at the monorail resorts.

Now, sister decided that she doesn’t want to pay for the monorail resort. Parents are paying for everyone’s tickets/food/transportation, sister and bro in law are paying for their own room, probably because this isn’t really a family vacation as me and my brother are not going.
So anyway, now she convinced my mom to switch to AoA family suites, on a recommendation from a coworker. She thinks it will be fine with the new transportation, and that the kids will like it.

My dad has a hard time walking and refuses scooters. Isn’t AoA a large resort? I thought I’ve read that you walk a mile to your room..and there’s not a sit down restaurant. This is a 7 night trip, not a 1 or 2 night. I think it sounds like a horrible idea.
Please try and talk them into staying someplace else!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We spent part of a resort hopping day there and it's A LOT OF WALKING to get anywhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The food court was great with lots of choices but it was also VERY LOUD and it was way less than half full when we went. I'd say it's a good choice for more mobile folks with kids. Good luck
