Really? So Cruises are room only charges and jack up the price for each person beyond one? The food is no longer included, it is an upcharge? The shows are an upcharge now?
Coffee in the morning is an upcharge? The Cruise experience no longer includes Trivia, pool games, big-screen movies, dance classes and sports deck activities -- such as basketball, rock climbing, mini-golf, ropes courses and shuffleboard are add ons? The Fitness center now charges vs being inclusive? Kids clubs are no longer inclusive?

Wooba. When did Cruise lines start charging for everything beyond your room?

The rest is speculation. Generally Disney land resorts are double occupancy quotes. I know when we put more than 2 adults in a room it is $15 a day upcharge but I'd expect it to be more given it is all inclusive like the cruises of yesteryear that included food and entertainment and kid centers.
I can say ,for what we paid, our cruise wasn't a extortionate price. Could we have done it cheaper ?
Maybe.
But the other companies offerings didn't look as nice to us.

Just our personal preference. Anyone not cruising Disney isn't doing anything wrong either.

What the hell are you talking about?

Huh?

You quoted me. I compared both Star Wars and Cruises being somewhat equal. Your quote didn't make sense questioning StarWars being actually being inclusive which appears you are questioning what Disney released. I questioned your comment? I believed both StarWars Resort and Cruises were equally inclusive. Your response put that into question. Go back and read your post and how you question Disney statement on cost going down with more guests in one room lowered cost per person.

I agree. While Cruising isn't my thing I do like what Disney offers for their trips for a realtively economical trip. Given what is included for the per person price it is an exclusive experience for a flat cost like Disney is also offering for their StarWars experience. One just on a boat the other on land. Same basic business model just one on a boat the other on land.

I’m back for advice from impartial people.,

I found out a few days ago that my parents are taking the grandkids on a surprise trip to Florida in April.. not just Florida, Disney World... and not just my parents, my sister and bro in law are going as well.

I’m livid. Like seriously livid.

1. T will miss a week of school, and a week of soccer and baseball. (Which means that I can’t take him out for another vacation)
2. He has been asking me to go back to Disney.
3. Selfishly I do NOT want him to visit Galaxy’s Edge for the first time without me!!!!

I’m so angry with all of them. I said that I won’t allow it. My sister and I got in a huge argument, she wants to go because they did another trip with her mother in law. I can’t go at that time due to work, my mom says that’s the only week that makes sense for all of them and they want to experience WDW one last time with their grandkids. I’ve been asking them to go for the past few years and they always decline!! Now, they’re going.

Would you be angry?
Am I acting like a 2 year old?
I can’t say “no” because it’s not right to do to him, but I’m so hurt and mad about this whole thing.
I think @ajrwdwgirl got it right. Let T go and see if you can swing a few days to go down and meet up with them.

@figmentfan423 They have a vegan shake here. Ordered it for myself to avoid dairy.

Edit: it was really, really good. One of the few instances where I couldn't tell it was vegan.
THNX, good to know if it ever makes it back on my want to go list. Last time I was there no allergy book and they brought out something with an allergen and said I didn't mention it after the chef read back the list:rolleyes::banghead: I always check everybody's meals before we eat. Waited forever for a replacement. That was enough to head over to GS after the meal, got a voucher for a meal elsewhere

But you are an intelligent well educated man. You read the forums. You have got to realize by what you have read it is an immersive experience for 2 nights, 3 days. There is a Star Wars theme and schedule for those fans that includes costuming and roles. We all know there is a huge following for Star Wars and getting to enter a World of Star Wars for 3 days no more, no less, is a time of a life for those mega fans. It will include everything including dining. It is an over simplification to claim the cost only includes a room. If that is what you are sticking to I'd love to see your source because even on this site that is not what has been stated here or by Disney.

Trying to say it is merely a resort room is just begging for the trolls to come out of the woodwork. As I read on I am sure I will find the usual members mocking Disney 'experience' as it is a never fail pile on. Me it is very much the same as a cruise less the add ons of on shore add ons. You get your room, your entertainment, your food and a set price given the category of room the guest picks. To the best of my knowledge the only difference from cruising is the off shore expense that doesn't come through in the Star Wars experience. My guess is tipping will be similar to cruising. Liquor can go either way.
There are also vacations that are all inclusive in the Caribbean that include everything for your stay from food to liquor, everything at their resort in included in a set price.

While I have zero interest I know so many that are chomping at the bit to role play Star Wars. It maybe their only vacation of the year but they are all in. Me not so much but I won't poop on others love of Star Wars anymore than I do with others love of Harry Potter or what some will pay for a single World Series ticket or SuperBowl ticket.
What you are saying may be true and whatever fantasy that creates for an individual it all takes place in a themed hotel and a themed park. With every human fantasy there is a reality attached, like it or not! From what I read, cruises and The Star Wars Experience is the same process. You pay per person based on two people for room in most cases. You pay the same for that room, which isn't cheap for one as for two. They will quote room rates as a person rate with the idea that if you are alone you will pay for two people. Disney flat out said that the rate is per person as well, but I didn't see where there was an adjustment on two or more people. You want it by yourself you pay for two is how cruises are handled. BTW, liquor never goes any way other then extra charge. 🍺🍷🥂🥃🍸🍹🍾
I may be wrong about that because since I have no intention of ever staying in the "experience" I didn't read much further then the rate per person before I started feeling that I might be suffering from shock and left the page. ;)

That kid can never take a bad picture, you know? ;) And Poppa has quite the sense of style with the headband with ears! :joyfull:

By the way, I'm seeing more hair. I recall my grandmother telling me that hair grew faster in the summer, due to all the sunlight. (I don't believe that, I'm just mentioning it here though. :p)

Thanks for all of the input on this Disney family drama.

Here’s the newest-

Sister stayed at AKL last time.

Growing up we always stayed at the monorail resorts.

Now, sister decided that she doesn’t want to pay for the monorail resort. Parents are paying for everyone’s tickets/food/transportation, sister and bro in law are paying for their own room, probably because this isn’t really a family vacation as me and my brother are not going.
So anyway, now she convinced my mom to switch to AoA family suites, on a recommendation from a coworker. She thinks it will be fine with the new transportation, and that the kids will like it.

My dad has a hard time walking and refuses scooters. Isn’t AoA a large resort? I thought I’ve read that you walk a mile to your room..and there’s not a sit down restaurant. This is a 7 night trip, not a 1 or 2 night. I think it sounds like a horrible idea.

Well, we should be on the road between 8-9AM, arriving at POP between 12-1PM.

Last night, by some bizarre chance, I found an ADR for the Illuminations Dining package for tonight! I couldn’t believe it. I have literally been checking since May.

Fixing that!

*sigh*. Little brothers. Either they are your best friends or you're ready to kill them. No in between.

And they snore.

We stayed there once and it is a huge resort. The counter service, while it has a lot of offerings is also large and rather crowded. I haven’t read previous posts for other updates. I still wouldn’t be happy with the situation. I would ask them to wait so you could go as well.
