I just received our first school newsletter for the year.

You may remember that I complained last Spring about our tuition going up.. well here’s a new blindside-

Foreign Language will no longer be offered as part of the standard curriculum. Now we can pay per semester for a foreign language directly after school, 1 hour.

This is extremely disappointing.

This day is not going so well so far. I hate back to school time. (Insert pouty face)

Oh my goodness. That's like paying for a private tutor. They should include that class during the regular school day. I know you've mentioned you send T to a private school. I think they charge the parents enough money as it is. :banghead:

Why don’t you go over and do mine too! It was a task I thought about all summer but didn’t do. Maybe next summer. I’m sure it feels good to have that done.

me too.. I really need to have a craft sale... we have so many craft odds and ends... tons of scrapbooking and stamp stuff that we are never going to use again... it really needs to go!

So did we, except that part wasn't made public while the Russians backing down was heavily reported. Whatever, that is what civilized people do to prevent disasters. They compromise! So here we are, almost 60 years later and those of us taking in oxygen during that time are still doing so. I mentioned that I lived exactly next to one of the entrances to Plattsburgh AFB during that time. I was 13 and it was starting to look like that would be as far as I was going to get. The base was on full alert and car after car after car were driving onto the base and those Nuclear laden B-52's were warming up on the runway. Being in Vietnam wasn't anywhere near as scary as that point in time.

Yep, definitely aware of the deals that were made. Since I was born during the whole thing I have a special interest in the history of it all.
I was just bein’ silly...!!! :)

;)

Or, better yet...

I hope his afternoon is better

He ended up having a great day (few hours)! Said his new teacher is “super awesome”, and he already won 3 prizes today.lol.Sort of.., the teacher apparently gives out “tickets”. He received, One for behavior/positive attitude, one, and one for doing the web based program ‘Xtra Math’ an average of 4x per week over the summer. The kids earn tickets and then have a drawing every week and can win no homework pass or candy bar or something like that.

He also received a $10 Graeters Ice Cream Card from his 3rd grade math teacher, for completing a math workbook that she sent home to do over the summer.

So, he’s quite happy with his first day, even with the delayed arrival.

T is excited about the year right now, I hope this enthusiasm continues!

The only negative is the after school Spanish class instead of during the day. I’m curious to know what class has replaced the Spanish time block. I guess we’ll find out soon.

Since you are still ketching up, I will bring you up to speed. I added Sunday night to our reservation. Same suite and same poolside interior location. It added only $123. That is a passholder rate, but the regular rates are pretty good anyway.

Never mind. Saw you saw the update. 😉

That’s really awesome...!!! :)
Not sure when we’ll be able to get to Uni., but, stayin’ at Cabana Bay looks like a big part of the fun...we may hafta’ head back down to San Antonio soon for another El Tropicano stay so we can get our mid-century modern hotel fix before we can get to Uni....!!!!! :hilarious::happy:

It’s $170 per semester, but $500 if you sign up/pay for the year at once.
Spanish, French, or German.

It’s optional, was not optional when part of school day curriculum- and only Spanish was offered with that, until 7th grade when they had a choice of French or Spanish. Regardless, it’s a blindside that we should have been made aware of PRIOR to the first day of school. It’s been part of the curriculum since kindergarten.

When we can get away again it will be to UNI. Still love Disney but it's lost too much value for us

Yep, the one whirlwind day at MK is just some silly fun for us...!!!!!!! :hilarious::happy:
No plans in the works for a longer whole family trip for a while, but, we know we’ll be back at some point while our dear ‘lil Emy is still “free”...!!! ;):)

(And, then again, maybe before she becomes a “Disney adult” at the ripe old age of 10...!!!!! :hilarious::D;))

I wish MTV would go back to just playing 80's and bring back our original VJ's. I still here 3 of them on XM 80's at least. They just replay so many of the same songs, you'd think there were only 30 songs in the 80's. Dh listens to a station on tunein radio from the UK that plays a nice variety of 80's.

I was still 18 when MTV launched on Aug. 1, 1981. It was all the rage and pretty cool for a coupla’ years, then I just got bored with it.
Does anyone remember the first video ever played on MTV...?!

Did a quick search for the actual video, but, couldn’t find it... :cyclops:
