Ooo, I think that beats mine by about 5,000.

I looked because my mom kept texting me her TSM scores. I think she had 195,000. I told her to call when she broke 200,000. Hasn't happened so far...we take this very seriously

Aside of them blindsiding the parents, and aside of parents scrambling to get the money at the last minute --what really bothers me about this, is that we are living in a global society. Certainly, learning another language can only help to put these children ahead in life. For the school system to downgrade language education to an after school, privately paid for activity, is just beyond my comprehension. :banghead:

I agree, 100%. K-8 foreign language was one of the benefits of this school. Now K-6 are ‘optional’, and adds an hour to the school day at that. I’d rather they just raise the tuition a bit more and keep it during school hours... I would still probably be here complaining about it, but at least it would be more convenient.

We have a parent curriculum meeting in a week or so, I’m definitely going to ask questions about the change. The only thing I can think of is maybe parents wanted more choices than just Spanish, and the school couldn’t afford it? I don’t know. Stumped on this one.

@MySmallWorldof4 , we had another 3 kids in T’s grade who left for homeschooling this year. Apparently they joined with the other people who have left over the past couple years and are in a commune together.
Have you heard of that? I know homeschooling does group field trips, but this is an actual group who will all follow the same curriculum, do projects together, etc.

There was not a day in my life I thought I looked “cute” until my mid-20’s.

In choosing a pic to post, especially around that age, I usually “had a face on” because I hated getting my picture taken.

That’s what low childhood self-esteem does. Some of us just blossom late and then we’re hot as all get out! 🤣🧔🏻🕺🏻
Well I think you were cute. End of story.

Kids learn foreign languages better the younger they are. It is much harder to get fluent when you are older.

We call them co-ops. I am not part of a co-op. We just do everything at home. I would have been expected to teach a class to other kids if I was in a co-op and I didn’t want to do that.

Yes, I'm still awake. Time for some emergency Crown Vanilla intervention.

(OK, time for part two of Crown Vanilla intervention.)

But I got my inbox down from over 2,000 to under 690. So that's something.

Still working on improving the new store in time for our grand opening, which is looking to be early October now. I have a record show this Sunday, and then we're driving up to Disney either Sunday night or Monday morning. (I may feel too guilty to leave the pup Sunday night. We'll see.) But boy, are we looking forward to this trip.

Brian has been on non-stop interviews (plus working some catering gigs here & there.) He finally applied for unemployment yesterday. He is getting a lot more interviews than in previous times of unemployment, and they seem to be going well.

He has a second interview on Friday with an east coast chain restaurant/bar. That seems to be a promising one. Many people in his field have either food or beverage experience; he has both. Plus he has restaurant as well as convention center/stadium experience. This all seems to be helpful in widening opportunities. I'm hoping for a path of assistant-to-GM-to-DM someplace over the next few years, just to make things physically easier on him. Either way, managing a restaurant can never be as much walking as a stadium, so that's an improvement no matter what.

He may end up at places open until 2am. That will be a new thing for us that might take a little adjusting on my part. Typically when he occasionally works that late now, I don't sleep well or I stay partially awake until he gets home.

There's also a Beverage manager position at a local casino that sounds good, and a few others. One place he interviewed with today wanted him to come back on the 27th to meet the higher-up district manager. He called me all excited on his way home. I had to tell him, "Honey, we're going to be at Disney World on the 27th." Oops. (And we would have been whether I had changed our dates a smidge or not LOL.) So that will be rescheduled.

His spirits are better. I heard the follow-up call today to schedule the second round interview with the chain. They said the initial interviewer was very impressed and said he was "fabulous" so the DM is looking forward to meeting with him (and that was nice to hear.) The conversation went well from what I could tell.

But I keep telling him if he gets hired before we go, I may extend another day and upgrade our last day hotel LOL!
Good for Brian!

Some people on Facebook: Look, I have 1,000 friends!
Me on Facebook: Oh no, we're getting close to 100. Some have got to go.
I will never get these "friends" collectors.
They are not your real friends for gods sake! they are just followers or contacts!
Worse when people just add just about anyone without even checking.
Facebook never was supposed to be like Instagram or twitter.
