I just received our first school newsletter for the year.

You may remember that I complained last Spring about our tuition going up.. well here’s a new blindside-

Foreign Language will no longer be offered as part of the standard curriculum. Now we can pay per semester for a foreign language directly after school, 1 hour.

This is extremely disappointing.

This day is not going so well so far. I hate back to school time. (Insert pouty face)

How can you not have Foreign Language at a school?! I loved foreign language classes and always thought it was so fun to learn everything about the culture of a foreign country. Such a disappointment. :(

The more I think about it, the more angry I get. “Surprise! You need to pay an extra $500 by next week, for something that has always been included in previous years!”
What???

An hour after school is extremely inconvenient, kiddo has soccer at 5pm.. now he’ll literally be leaving school, changing, going to a sport, and getting home at 7:15 or so.. then dinner and doing homework until bedtime.

What a stupid decision!

Summer is over. :(

Back to school today.

Of course we had a minor mishap, because.. why wouldn’t we??
T wanted to be early, got up, showered, dressed, I made a special breakfast, he was excited. Then, we were getting in the drop off line plenty early, and he said “oh shoot, I forgot to brush my teeth!”
So, I got out of the line and drove back home, while he was protesting the entire time. He brushes teeth and we go back.. at drop point there was a group of moms dressed up in spirit wear, Pom poms, confetti, those little horn things, cheering every kid when they pulled up. T says “Ugh. I’m not in the mood for this. My day is already ruined now that I have to run to class instead of being early” Gets out of the car, completely ignores the moms who are cheerfully yelling “Happy 1st Day of School, Tristan!”, speed walks past them, runs up the steps. I roll the window down and apologize. 🤦‍♀️

They have an 11am dismissal today, I’m hoping he tells me that he got out of that mood, quickly.
I hope his afternoon is better

Wow.. that really is disappointing. Especially in this day and age where people need a 2nd language!

Hey, no knocking the 80's they were amazing... and I loved my big hair! However, the hour it took to make big hair and boatloads of makeup is just crazy to think about now... which is why I wear eyeliner, mascara, and chapstick, and my hair is wash and go! I miss MTV and watching music videos... man I wish I could do it all over again!
I wish MTV would go back to just playing 80's and bring back our original VJ's. I still here 3 of them on XM 80's at least. They just replay so many of the same songs, you'd think there were only 30 songs in the 80's. Dh listens to a station on tunein radio from the UK that plays a nice variety of 80's.

I was a kid in the 1980s. I still have fond memories from that decade. I went to 2 concerts as a kid with my parents and my younger brother in that decade. I recalled the movies I saw in that decadein the theater including Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Uncle Buck, Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, Transformers the Movie (1986). That is the decade my parents had betamax and VHS also.

As far as my mom's hair style in the 1980's. Hers was the same as she had in the late 1960s as a teenager through 1993. My mom had straight long hair that went down a good way on her back. My mom got her hair shorter, but she still looked great to this day. My dad did not have an 1980s hair style. My dad's style never changed besides he did have a bald spot in the 1980s like I have a bald spot for many years.

That is surprising. Considering your after school schedule that will be an impossibility for you I guess. You could have T watch the Spanish channels on tv, that is assuming he is taking Spanish. You could play dvd's in Spanish with subtitles in English. My kids have done that for fun with some movies.

I found out something.

My younger brother was invited to a D23 party on August 24th due to him being a Disney Movie points holder, but couldn't go. It was My younger brother plus 1 and I'm guessing that plus 1 would've been me. What happened was we already had plans of that day and it is not possible for us to go to California that day.
