Just added Sunday night to our reservation at Universal Cabana Bay. $123 for Sunday night in a poolview suite. That is a passholder rate. They have Passholder appreciation days going on right now. So a week hotel stay for us in under $1000. That is just amazing.

Wow!!!
Even better...!!!!! :)
To be honest, even though the kiddos were for a bit, Iā€™ve never had any interest in any of the Potter books or movies. Never picked up a book, and fell asleep halfway through the one movie (canā€™t remember which :cyclops:) they talked me into goinā€™ to see. Just nothing there for me.
That all being said, Iā€™ve always heard and seen great things about the Potter theming, and I know enough to where Iā€™m sure I would appreciate that.
Similar thing with Avatar. Iā€™ve not seen more than about a third of that movie (you spend $$$$$ :greedy::greedy::greedy: to build a land from one movie...?!?!?!). Does nothing for me. Again, Iā€™ve heard and seen great things about the theming, but, at this point, it's even lower down the list than Potterland for me.
Again, weā€™ll see, but, Uni. keeps lookinā€™ better to me...if maybe not the rest of the fam...yet...!!! ;)

One of my brothers went to Woodstock -- he still has his ticket stub! :joyfull: (And if you're at all interested about it, both PBS and CNN have been airing specials on it this past week. Haven't seen the CNN one, but PBS's documentary is excellent. There was a lot of great musical performers.)

Lots of great music from the time, indeed.
But, too much rain, mud, and bad acid... :cautious:
PASS...!!!!! :hilarious:;):)

Probably not as much just because my choice in clothes is just very classic, and I don't do extreme hairstyles or anything. I remember when ponchos were the rage in the early 00s. My mom said they were cute I thought they were hideous. Over ten years later, the world agrees with me. I could easily pass with my wardrobe in the 90s, 00s, or today. I do get your point. I mean, I look back at photos of my mom in the 80s and go, "Good grief, what were you thinking?"

Edit: the exception being the 40s. I watch Indiana Jones and go, "Wow, they knew how to dress back then."
What your mom was like was the norm for that decade. If you see the hairstyle that Wilson Sisters had for the 1980s for their music videos, I rest my case. The Wilson Sister are part of the well known rock band Heart.

Good thing you were not a kid in the 1980s because you don't want to know the kids in grade school looked like that decade due to how the parents had them wear and the hairstyles. I am sure you would've had an 1980s hairstyle in grade school.

There is some good stuff from the 1980s. There was some good music from that decade such as Dire Straits, ZZ Top, Peter Gabriel, Statler Brothers, Fleetwood Mac, Weird Al Yankovic, The Traveling Wilburys and others. 1980s Espn is better than today's Espn and MTV actually played music videos.

Since you are still ketching up, I will bring you up to speed. I added Sunday night to our reservation. Same suite and same poolside interior location. It added only $123. That is a passholder rate, but the regular rates are pretty good anyway.

Never mind. Saw you saw the update. šŸ˜‰

Love 80ā€™s music. I went to high school in the mid to late 80ā€™s and didnā€™t have ā€œ80ā€™sā€ hair. I was in the minority of course.

My mom's hair style was not 1980s at all in that decade. Her was the classic long straight hair look that she even had back in the 1970s and the late 1960s. She changed the hairstyle in 1993 with her still having it too this day. Her looked great with the 2 different hairstyles.

I agree with necessity driving habit. I grew up really poor, and we ate whatever we could come by and shopped wherever we could afford. My mom was an earthy hippie (where I get it from) and she would have much rather have fed us free range organic food, but we ate 47 cent eggs and drank managers-special milk and got our boxes of food from her volunteer shifts at the food banks. All else equal, I prefer shopping at Whole Foods. But when I need to throw a kids tea party for ten of her friends and I only have $50 to do it, I shop Walmart.

Things for me have vastly improved after the last recession but I became very frugal. Not cheap, just look at my LOVE OF DISNEY but even that I donā€™t go to any official site to look at a going rate.

If I can justify and find a good price I try and spend my dollars at places that are not anti Woman Just how I roll. I just get the sense that these economists would do well to serve a mandatory internship on a low income allotment for a year similar to doctors and nurses to practice. Maybe there would be more empathy for great Cities like Baltimore and the conditions in certain areas some amazing families endure life in. It is so difficult for many to buck and breakout of making ends meet. I have empathy for that.

I missed the outcome

So did I!

All's quiet on the Western front.

Had some screeching cats out front a few minutes ago - don't know how Kylie didn't hear that - I opened the door & shooed 'em away.

She and I went for a walk tonight, that usually makes her more tired (good!) She is so funny, though, this dog - I may have mentioned this before...all I have to do is walk into the room wearing my red shorts, and she knows we're going for a walk and gets all excited. I have to have Brian record it one of these days.

I really really miss having a pup. Give her a big hug from me.

Yes, I'm still awake. Time for some emergency Crown Vanilla intervention.

(OK, time for part two of Crown Vanilla intervention.)

But I got my inbox down from over 2,000 to under 690. So that's something.

Still working on improving the new store in time for our grand opening, which is looking to be early October now. I have a record show this Sunday, and then we're driving up to Disney either Sunday night or Monday morning. (I may feel too guilty to leave the pup Sunday night. We'll see.) But boy, are we looking forward to this trip.

Brian has been on non-stop interviews (plus working some catering gigs here & there.) He finally applied for unemployment yesterday. He is getting a lot more interviews than in previous times of unemployment, and they seem to be going well.

He has a second interview on Friday with an east coast chain restaurant/bar. That seems to be a promising one. Many people in his field have either food or beverage experience; he has both. Plus he has restaurant as well as convention center/stadium experience. This all seems to be helpful in widening opportunities. I'm hoping for a path of assistant-to-GM-to-DM someplace over the next few years, just to make things physically easier on him. Either way, managing a restaurant can never be as much walking as a stadium, so that's an improvement no matter what.

He may end up at places open until 2am. That will be a new thing for us that might take a little adjusting on my part. Typically when he occasionally works that late now, I don't sleep well or I stay partially awake until he gets home.

There's also a Beverage manager position at a local casino that sounds good, and a few others. One place he interviewed with today wanted him to come back on the 27th to meet the higher-up district manager. He called me all excited on his way home. I had to tell him, "Honey, we're going to be at Disney World on the 27th." Oops. (And we would have been whether I had changed our dates a smidge or not LOL.) So that will be rescheduled.

His spirits are better. I heard the follow-up call today to schedule the second round interview with the chain. They said the initial interviewer was very impressed and said he was "fabulous" so the DM is looking forward to meeting with him (and that was nice to hear.) The conversation went well from what I could tell.

But I keep telling him if he gets hired before we go, I may extend another day and upgrade our last day hotel LOL!

When we can get away again it will be to UNI. Still love Disney but it's lost too much value for us
