:hilarious:;)
So did we, except that part wasn't made public while the Russians backing down was heavily reported. Whatever, that is what civilized people do to prevent disasters. They compromise! So here we are, almost 60 years later and those of us taking in oxygen during that time are still doing so. I mentioned that I lived exactly next to one of the entrances to Plattsburgh AFB during that time. I was 13 and it was starting to look like that would be as far as I was going to get. The base was on full alert and car after car after car were driving onto the base and those Nuclear laden B-52's were warming up on the runway. Being in Vietnam wasn't anywhere near as scary as that point in time.

Yes, I'm still awake. Time for some emergency Crown Vanilla intervention.

(OK, time for part two of Crown Vanilla intervention.)

But I got my inbox down from over 2,000 to under 690. So that's something.

Still working on improving the new store in time for our grand opening, which is looking to be early October now. I have a record show this Sunday, and then we're driving up to Disney either Sunday night or Monday morning. (I may feel too guilty to leave the pup Sunday night. We'll see.) But boy, are we looking forward to this trip.

Brian has been on non-stop interviews (plus working some catering gigs here & there.) He finally applied for unemployment yesterday. He is getting a lot more interviews than in previous times of unemployment, and they seem to be going well.

He has a second interview on Friday with an east coast chain restaurant/bar. That seems to be a promising one. Many people in his field have either food or beverage experience; he has both. Plus he has restaurant as well as convention center/stadium experience. This all seems to be helpful in widening opportunities. I'm hoping for a path of assistant-to-GM-to-DM someplace over the next few years, just to make things physically easier on him. Either way, managing a restaurant can never be as much walking as a stadium, so that's an improvement no matter what.

He may end up at places open until 2am. That will be a new thing for us that might take a little adjusting on my part. Typically when he occasionally works that late now, I don't sleep well or I stay partially awake until he gets home.

There's also a Beverage manager position at a local casino that sounds good, and a few others. One place he interviewed with today wanted him to come back on the 27th to meet the higher-up district manager. He called me all excited on his way home. I had to tell him, "Honey, we're going to be at Disney World on the 27th." Oops. (And we would have been whether I had changed our dates a smidge or not LOL.) So that will be rescheduled.

His spirits are better. I heard the follow-up call today to schedule the second round interview with the chain. They said the initial interviewer was very impressed and said he was "fabulous" so the DM is looking forward to meeting with him (and that was nice to hear.) The conversation went well from what I could tell.

But I keep telling him if he gets hired before we go, I may extend another day and upgrade our last day hotel LOL!
Prayers he gets something quickly. The fact that he has been on many interviews is so promising. I am glad his spirits are up.

That first fireworks picture is so pretty!!!! Is the food better at Disneyland than Disney World?

What your mom was like was the norm for that decade. If you see the hairstyle that Wilson Sisters had for the 1980s for their music videos, I rest my case. The Wilson Sister are part of the well known rock band Heart.

Good thing you were not a kid in the 1980s because you don't want to know the kids in grade school looked like that decade due to how the parents had them wear and the hairstyles. I am sure you would've had an 1980s hairstyle in grade school.

There is some good stuff from the 1980s. There was some good music from that decade such as Dire Straits, ZZ Top, Peter Gabriel, Statler Brothers, Fleetwood Mac, Weird Al Yankovic, The Traveling Wilburys and others. 1980s Espn is better than today's Espn and MTV actually played music videos.

Hey, no knocking the 80's they were amazing... and I loved my big hair! However, the hour it took to make big hair and boatloads of makeup is just crazy to think about now... which is why I wear eyeliner, mascara, and chapstick, and my hair is wash and go! I miss MTV and watching music videos... man I wish I could do it all over again!

Summer is over. :(

Back to school today.

Of course we had a minor mishap, because.. why wouldn’t we??
T wanted to be early, got up, showered, dressed, I made a special breakfast, he was excited. Then, we were getting in the drop off line plenty early, and he said “oh shoot, I forgot to brush my teeth!”
So, I got out of the line and drove back home, while he was protesting the entire time. He brushes teeth and we go back.. at drop point there was a group of moms dressed up in spirit wear, Pom poms, confetti, those little horn things, cheering every kid when they pulled up. T says “Ugh. I’m not in the mood for this. My day is already ruined now that I have to run to class instead of being early” Gets out of the car, completely ignores the moms who are cheerfully yelling “Happy 1st Day of School, Tristan!”, speed walks past them, runs up the steps. I roll the window down and apologize. 🤦‍♀️

They have an 11am dismissal today, I’m hoping he tells me that he got out of that mood, quickly.
