Isn't that what money is for though? Travel while you're young and can still get around!
I was getting close to 40 and had little to show for all my hard work except great memories so decided to act like an adult and buy an apartment.
Here in the UK your home is either leasehold or freehold. Leasehold means you don't own the land the apartment or house is on so you pay rent to lease the land. You have a contract to stipulate the length of the lease and the cost. My lease for instance is for another 90 years and the rent is £10 a year, the shorter the term of the lease is the less your home will be worth.

You would have to uber-rich to buy a home in or around London :greedy::greedy::greedy:
Uber rich depends on where you want to buy and how big. The further out from the centre you go the cheaper homes become. I really like the area I live in so settled for a small apartment but that wouldn't work for families etc. I'd love to get a bigger place myself but hate the idea of getting a large mortgage and paying all that interest, I'd be stuck adulting for another 20 years.

I walked passed an estate agent in my neighbourhood today and the rental price for this home made me laugh.
People outside London don't always understand why I live in a studio flat...

This is what you can get for around the same price locally

I honestly didn't think I could find anything for that price here in Columbus, but I found this:

It's downtown, which I know jacks the price up. But the average apartment around here is around $1300 usd a month, ish.

Only 10 pounds a year? That seems really cheap for renting land. The UK real estate is so very different from here!

Same. My old job I was busy the entire day. This job I have long periods of down time and then high periods of work.

That's exactly how my job is... I've had a lot of down time in the past couple of months... today everyone and their brother brought me a stack of work... so now I have something to do... but it's hard to get motivated when you've had so much down time!
