Oh my gosh! I don’t remember if I saw that episode as I was very young when it was on. I do remember being taken to see Jaws at the movies. Guessing no babysitter was available? It scared the heck out of me. My mom covered my eyes so much during that film. A definite parental mistake. Anyway I had problems taking baths for a while after that. If I would put my head under water in the tub, it would sound like the jaws music to me. I imagined a shark coming out from the drain. Still to this day I have issues with the icean and sharks. Thanks mom.

Oh my!!! So sorry about that...definitely not a movie for a young child!!!
I saw it in the theater the summer it came out when I was 13. IIRC, it’s considered the first “Summer Blockbuster”. It was definitely groundbreaking for its time, but, I never had any nightmares about it, and didn’t have any problems going in the water afterward, including lakes and the ocean.
But, the lady across the street from us couldn’t force herself to get into their clear-watered, light blue color swimming pool for almost 2 months after she saw the movie...!!!!! :hilarious:

The only time I've ever had a problem with fireworks is at World Showcase. I've never once had an issue at MK or DHS; the block off the areas where the fireworks are shot off and then spray it down. Smoke doesn't have a chance to get anywhere. World Showcase I have to pay attention to which way the wind is blowing and stand opposite of it.

Smoking sections on the other hand, especially in DL where I wasn't as familiar with the layout, were problematic. Especially some of the cigars. I've discovered those will cause me to shutdown.
Er.
Personally, I understand that nicotine is extremely addictive. I understand it's one of the hardest drugs to quit and that the side effects can be miserable. I have a problem with a smoker's need to smoke seemingly taking precedence over everyone else's clean air.

Not disputing nor am I directing this at you, more my disgust with the Adults having Fun by Bullying. I'm not a fan of Bullying though I realize it is being normalized in our country from the top and trickling down. Actually I take more exception to the soft target, 71 pages of it, they are in plain sight. Addiction is nasty no matter what some fall prey to smoking or beer run Fridays. What constructive thought could have been added beyond page 2?. I’d no more pile on a smoker than pick on guests with weight issues utilizing a cart in WDW. They are fair game for Bullying too. Eating disorders are serious but these guests too are picked on unmercifully from time to time. It is all encompassing ‘smokers’ vs some smokers-also. Most of what I've seen over the years in these threads are over generalizations. Rarely have I seen someone walk up Main Street or in a food court light up. Most are rule followers. There have been CMs and guests physically hurt by guests over drinking. A drunk guy just punched a lady I know about 15 years older than me sitting with her husband on a bench in Epcot in the side of her head. No reason, ranaway laughing. Should the parks go into prohibition? It is bringing physical harm to others. Go back to an old thread about alcohol in the Magic Kingdom and it is as Ugly and as much shaming along with Bullying as the Smoking thread. I have a bigger fear of the health and well being from Bullying being normalized than the threats of drunks, smokers or being run over by a cart by an over weight person. Bullied and suicide are real.

In actuality it is rare for my DD to have any respiratory issues in Disney Parks and has never had to use her inhaler because of Smokers. She has been following along on the boards and FB (more than I have) and she knows why the campfires at the resorts bother her but not the smoking sections at the park. Fort Wilderness is rough for her. We can't stay there. Is that fair? She has wondered why campfires haven’t been banned too. She has the worst time with Illuminations with fireworks. Maybe they should be banned too? She has a horrid time with perfumes and shops that sell them like France and Norway. They really set her off. Spraying them in restrooms in the parks is almost as bad for her as standing in a queue next to some wearing cologne. Her thought is maybe all triggers should be banned from the parks if that thread is really concerned about other guests health. Peanut Butter/jelly sandwiches are sold in the parks and peanut butter had been sold in their stores (haven't looked in a while) Deadly to some. That is OK.

Me, she has learned to cope just fine in the parks and elsewhere. She says it kinda tongue in cheek cause knows guests have tunnel vision. With a minor in sociology it more entertaining to pile on smokers than it is to care about the non human side off similar carcinogens. It only interests members to pile on a humans not a campfire or fireworks that are faceless and what is the fun in that? A quick google search will yield world wide both the clean air or lack there of from campfires and fireworks, both carry in the air substantially farther out than smoking sections. Not that that makes smoking sections OK but it does question why 2 high culprits are not addressed and one is if clean air is the outcome. We'd both pick the drunks as our number one issue at the parks.

We are becoming those people that make fun of the opinions and actions of others. That problem of enforcement is between those that break that rules and the degree that Disney is willing to enforce those rules.

And that was my point, making fun and bullying, along with they hypocrisy of caring about mother earths air but not her oceans. You are bring up enforcement and the challenges of is Disney Willing to enforce....opinion Disney isn't going to go out of their way to look for offenders as long as they are not harming another guest. You bring an interesting twist to the conversation.

We're going to have to agree to disagree on this. I disagree with everything you said, and I'm not going to agree, to be frank, nor do I think you'll ever agree with me.

And also, multiple members have asked that we not discuss this here.

And you couldnt work remotely while being in Orlando for a few shifts as Mayor or Greeter?

This is a tradition that started in Disneyland in the mid-sixties. They picked ambassadors from the cast members at the park to take some of the media type responsibilities off of Walt. They are generally cast members who have worked for years in the parks and built a strong reputation for themselves in WDW or DL, they are separate, they each have their own dynamic duo's chosen from each the parks to. It is two who call Orlando Home and two who call Anaheim home. It is currently a 2 year position and then they pick someone else. The average annual salary is $71,000 but has gone as high as $95,000 the last time my son saw the range posted. They are the cream of the crop employees as they are the point person in so many media events. It be difficult to juggle two careers.

One for 2019-20 title before was Worldwide Safety operations for Walt Disney Parks
and the other was service advisor at the Caribbean Beach Resort. The outgoing gentlemen one at the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, supporting the housekeeping and custodial team, from the Disney University Traditions team.

True. :)

And there is the problem with looking at your alerts and replying to them first and then playing catch-up to the pages of days posts...I reply to the ones that come up first. :inlove:

In other news, I hope noone here is going to be with the Oasis of the Seas in the near future.
Turns out there are news around saying there was a very big problem involving multiple cranes falling ON TOP or on the side of the Oasis in dry dock, to make things worse.. the Oasis supposedly dropped from its supports as well.
Who knows the extend of the damage.

What weird is some saying the dock is dry, others that its not dry.. o_O

Add to the other reasons I don't cruise. Those mainly being a floating petri dish with zero oversight or liability. Recipe for disaster. They'll send her to sea again with zip liability.

I know something that is even more painful. Having dental insurance, but doesn't cover the work that needs to be done. What makes that even worse is the specialist expects it to be paid in full all at once:jawdrop::(.

Back when I was growing up, my parents had dental insurance that did not cover bridge work. I am mentioning this because my mom had to get bridge work done when I a kid with dental insurance that didn't cover it. All I'm will to saying the specialist expected my parents to pay all of it at once.

You don't want to know the cost of the normal price of bridge work because it was enough for doing 2 or 3 WDW trips in one year at the time at least.

Keep in mind this was a specialist that bragged about having a sports car collection.
Dental insurance is completely different than medical because everyone generally uses it. Not everyone uses their medical, and if they do, it is for well visits or a trip to the urgent care. Dental is generally capped because the insurance companies lose money with it. There is no point to dental insurance. You are better off not having it and putting the premiums in a savings account. Nowadays many dentists offer a discount office plan. Specialists on the other hand can charge what they want, because they don’t need to participate with any insurance companies.

Does anyone have a Huawei or Xiaomi phone? Not sure if I should get because some people say they are compatible with Metro PCS and some people say they are not.

And yes, I know about the controversy over Huawei but if you think Apple, Google, Amazon or the rest of them doesn't spy on you then god help you.

May I suggest one of these? It's a lot more secure.
