Jack Attack last night -- I stepped out of the kitchen for a minute and when I came back, I saw that the tablecloth was kinda bunched up on the table. Couldn't figure it out as there was no food on the table, just a glass of milk. Then I noticed a large wet spot on the tablecloth.

Well, your favorite dog managed to climb up on the table, and slurp MY milk out of MY glass . . . spilling most of it on the tablecloth! :banghead: (And there was also the telltale sign of white milk drops on the side of his mouth.) I told him he was in the dog house (although we don't have a dog house).
Poor hungry Jack:(

I understand that if you are taking up office time, a charge should be incurred, but the original charge was not cheap and the follow-up cost should have been included in the original charge. You definitey should not have been charged for all those office visits. You may as well could have just called him on the phone and gotten the same “I cannot do anything for you.”
Oh, I've gotten plenty of those, too. When DS was 3 weeks old, one of my DH's aunts was diagnosed with whooping cough. She had just been to visit my MIL a week or so before, and then my MIL started coughing horribly. She went to get tested, but it came back inconclusive. But of course, with a newborn baby, Oma and Opa were visiting us, and we were visiting them, and obviously the kids were therefore exposed to whatever it was that my MIL had, and knowing SHE had been exposed to whooping cough, there was a good chance it was that. And then both the kids started coughing....fevers, coughing....DS couldn't nurse because he was hacking, and at 3 weeks old, he hadn't had the whooping cough vaccination yet. I called the doctor, the doctor said not to worry about it...it probably wasn't whooping cough. He was swamped and no, he didn't need to check DS out, and no he wouldn't prescribe antibiotics. I was so angry that he wouldn't even let me bring him in to CHECK. My nephew was 2 and HIS doctor prescribed antibiotics without even seeing him, just because he had been exposed. And HE had already been vaccinated for it. My 3 week old was in a high risk category...70% of infants who get it have to be hospitalized. And my doctor wouldn't even let me bring him in. We waited until the office was closed and called urgent care. Urgent care told us to wait until morning and call our family doctor. DH just called back and called back and called back. Made a nuisance of himself until they finally agreed to give the kids antibiotics just in case.
But that's standard over here. You don't go to the doctor unless it's REALLY bad, and only if it won't go away for months...then they tell you that it's normal, go home. My friend's parents-in-law both died within 5 months of each other, both with cancer. Both had been to the doctor repeatedly and the doctor wouldn't do tests because he said they were old....it was normal to feel aches and pains when you're old. 6 months later, both of them were gone. The philosophy over here is to let your body heal itself. I just don't bother going to the doctor most of the time now because I knew he's not going to do anything to help me. It's pointless.

That is just awful. Are doctors in private practice there, or is it all socialized and run by the government?

Ha ha ha!! This process does put you through the proverbial ringer. Good grief. I'm amazed they don't ask you for your first born child, too!! ;) (Good thing I don't have kids, so they can't ask me for that!) :p
Are the processes different from state to state. I don't remember any of the stuff. I just brought in my Passport and one utility bill to verify address. I had a nice chat with the Motor Vehicle Dept. as the rest of the paper work was processed. If there were a lot of questions I don't remember them, however, at my age that doesn't mean anything.

It's easier when you walk in with a piece of real ID which a passport is

Agreed. And I have to say, while it's a lovely sentiment to not want to distract from Emily Blunt's performance, and she wanted Emily to make it her own, that's just not going to happen. Julie Andrews IS Mary Poppins. People associate her with that role, that's the icon...people are going to compare. It's never going to be Emily's own, no matter how well she performed it. And my first thought of why Julie Andrews wasn't in the sequel was that perhaps she didn't approve. I'm glad to know that wasn't the case, and Julie really is a class act. But it's rather an unrealistic expectation that fans wouldn't compare, or would see it as someone else's role. At least for me, it will always be Julie's. Just like Richard Harris will always be Dumbledore, even though Michael Gambon played the role in many more films. It's why remakes often don't work as well as the originals. Because you have that image in your head of that person in that role....and it wouldn't have been the same had anyone else played that character. People fell in love with it as it was....sure, the story is great, but the actors really bring it to life. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. And while this isn't a remake, you really can't escape the fact that it's the same iconic character, but not the same actor playing it. So there will be comparisons and discussions about how it was different. I think by doing a cameo, it would have made it clear that she supported Emily playing the role, passing on the torch so to speak.
Sadly, that sentiment can prevent you from enjoying many things. Thoughts like Sean Connery is James Bond was a battle cry for a while, but, the franchise survived without him. It was nice when he did his one return, but, by then everyone just accepted that it was a movie and they were actors so if they did a good job that was all that was important. There are two things about Mary Poppins Returns that perhaps could explain the lack of Julie Andrews. First and foremost, it has been 54 years since the original was released. Julie has aged pretty well, now 84 years old, but, even if she did the part, we would still be envisioning her the way she was in 1964. She's would be compared with her old image and it would be hard for us to look at it that way. She had surgery on her vocal cords and even though she can still sing pretty well, she had nowhere near the range or voice clarity she had back then. Second, it isn't the same story (many people including myself, thought of it as a "remake" when it was in reality a sequel). A few of the same characters (in name) are there, but, not at all really that easily compared. The only one that was able to get away with it (and for the most part the only other one still alive other then Julie Andrews (now 83 years old) was D ick Van D yke and that was because he played basically the same character he did for a small part of the first movie as the son of the bank Father. The one that died laughing when he finally figured out the joke about The man with the wooden leg named Sam. He played a 90 year old man and he is 90 and it added that touch of nostalgia that we figured would be lacking.

This is a continuation of the original and due to the lapse in time since the first one the same actors would not have worked and we all would have hated seeing the now aged Julie in that roll, it just wouldn't fit or be believable.

You should have left Jack some cookies to go with HIS milk.

Howdy gang!!!
Just checkin’ in and all is well...just been hangin’ out with family and enjoyin’ the long break...hope all of you and yours are all good, as well...!!!!! :)

Only slight bit of not-so-fun was that Emy had to have an already expected medical procedure on Friday morning. Outpatient laser surgery for both a tongue-tie and a lip-tie (Google is your friend if not familiar ;)).
Tongue was worse than lip, and lip was considered optional, but, could still cause problems later, so both were done...no need to have to pull out the laser twice...!
Anyway, later in the day she was already latching on and feeding so much better, so all is well with our dear little Emy...!!!!! :inlove:

A laughy pic of her from later that afternoon...she’s a tough young lady and a quick healer...!!!!!!! :joyfull:  :inlove: :)
