Funny/Cute story..

One of T’s soccer teammates was in the semi finals tonight.. on the opposing team.

First, but I’m sure not the last time that will happen in sports..

The mom sent me a text and photos.. apparently they were both excited to be playing on the same court, and at one point forgot they weren’t teammates in basketball. The boy passed the ball to T!!!😂😂😂

I can see how that would happen, these boys spend so much time as teammates!

Wasn’t enough to help us though, T’s team lost. After 3 weeks, knocked out of the tourney before the final. It’s ok though, it was first basketball tournament ever, and T loved it! :)

I want out, I hate my school, I hate everyone, people are just so mean. I feel like a social outcast, I don’t understand what’s wrong with me. People just don’t understand me? Now that I think about it, it’s not the people. I try to make friends, and fail, and before everyone freaks out that I’m gonna harm myself or anyone. I’m not that doesn’t resolve anything, I love you guys, it feels good to vent :)
Vent away! Everyone needs a place to vent. We have all vented in this thread. Hmmm.. how many times can I say vent in this post? :hilarious:

Update for my 3 forum friends who discussed this topic with me over the weekend...
I stopped by the store today at 4:30pm and the Christmas Nutcracker figurine is $49.99
I didn't buy it. It's quality wood....has some weight to it....it's a fair price but probably my wife would think that's a bit much for something that will be in storage 10.5 months of the year.
She agreed to let me take her to the mall this Friday so she can pick out her own presents. I'll pick out my own also. Let's hope that really takes place and we can focus on her surgery and recovery instead of what gift(s) to get ;)
My wife went in a few stores. Couldn't find anything. "I don't need anything". She is in New York and Company now....last chance.

You peaked my interest. Found a good article here that does a good job explaining it!

https://www.britannica.com/topic/Saint-Nicholas-Day

Thanks! That was a great read!

I was never confused or even thought about it too much until Tuesday when I left the bag at work!lol

Here’s what St Nick brought this year-

The box has the shoes and the game inside.. Normally it’s just the stocking- filled with fruit and treats... and a few small toys (think little LEGO character/tiny vehicle, or putty, etc)..and a book.. never a wrapped present or anything that was “asked for”.

I had that box on hand for one of his teacher’s gifts.. so thought I could improvise and use Christmas list toys in place of the in-my-desk-at-Work ones. But the whole debacle really made think about how strange the separation is!

As a total side note, T made a stocking for Luke this year, much to my surprise. 😂
St Nick put a candy cane inside.

Luke came back from the North Pole and took up camp nearby, so he could watch T open his stocking...

This one is St Nick Day 2 years ago.. Luke brought a gift with him, for T... I only did that once and then decided against it since.

Apparently, we get different messages from different locations, but, having been a Catholic for 70 years I can truthfully state that there was never any confusion on my or my friends part. Santa Claus and St. Nickolas were always the same person. That is what we were told, that was in every Santa related Christmas story and music. Never even gave it a thought or even knew there was a separate St. Nickolas day that was ever recognized at all. And believe me from birth I was surrounded by the Church. My grandparents knew every Priest in northern N.Y. and every Saturday night one, two or three were at my grandparents house just to visit. On Christmas the parish Priest came to my Grandparents house for Christmas Dinner. Followed by 9 years in deeply immersed parochial School education were all subjects taught were actively connected to God. Be that math, history, or social studies and I can truthfully state that any separation was never mentioned concerning Santa Claus vs. St. Nickolas.

I’ve celebrated it my entire life!

We never did St Nick as a separate thing, but then, we weren't Catholic, so maybe that's why. So it was never a confusing thing to me. It wasn't until I moved here where they do Sinterklaas, and I had kids who were doing all the Sinterklaas stuff at school while we did Christmas at home.
Funny story...when I was waiting to pick DS up from school yesterday, one of the mom's was saying her son set his shoe on the 4th and had colored a picture of Santa, who of course is not a "thing" here...and he wrote on it "Sinterklaas, is this your arch enemy?" :hilarious::hilarious:

We always just told our kids that Sinterklaas and Santa are cousins, and one does the US and the other does the Netherlands, and because I'm American, that's why they get presents from both. We always did just the small gifts for Sinterklaas....things you can put in their shoes. The bigger stuff was for Christmas because we had too much stuff to do around the 5th. DS's birthday is the 3rd, mine the 9th, and my nephew's the 16th. So we opted not to do much with Sinterklaas and to do more with Christmas. I've actually never heard of anyone in the US celebrating Saint Nicholas....you are the very first.

Wow you have a busy December with all of those birthdays!! What a celebratory month!
I’ve always received and given those same type of gifts on that day, even without birthdays.
The cousin is a great story, especially the different countries”. (T believes that every country has their own Santa now, because it’s just not possible for the sleigh around world to be real :( )

The “arch enemy” is hilarious!!!

What kind of annoys me about this reunion thing is that all who are invited are in one of the following groups:

1. The band
2. The popular kids
3. The smart kids (me)

If you weren't in those groups, forget you! Less than half of the class is invited in spite of many of them being on Facebook (some of my mutual friends have not been invited even though they went there). That's just...sad.
Reunions is something I'm not concerned with. I don't expect to be invited anyway. I don't my think class ever got a reunion despite how long ago I graduated. The 2nd thing is I'm very hard to find to contact to me begin with if you are looking for past classmates. I don't do facebook or twitter.

I'm very likely on number 4 in the eyes of my former classmates. I was a honor roll, but a very low profile one. I was not outgoing at all and shouldn't be a shocked. One of my two parents was not the outgoing type personality. I have no regrets on it. I went to high school to learn and do my best as student. I used high school to explore fields such as accounting, drafting, and computer programming.

By the time I was going to be freshman, I knew I was not made to do high sports due to my asthma and coordination problems. I knew I was not made to do stuff like being a debate team because of my speech disabilities. I focused on stuff that I had control over and that was doing my best in school.

I stayed away from wild parties other students had. I was brought up to use good judgment and I did that.

I know about challenges in High school in terms of students being mean. I was picked on. I came from a different era than you did, but I think ignoring the mean students is the best thing you can do if this case.

I grew up having speech problems and coordination problems. My disabilities did make me a target for students being mean to. I ignored those students. If those students do anything physical to you, I recommend you or your parents contact school staff members including the principal.
