Have to share this after my post yesterday.. room moms are preparing the gifts that the 3rd graders brought in.

I get so stressed out in December, and then I remember what the season is about...

It really does make me happy to see this!❤️

I want out, I hate my school, I hate everyone, people are just so mean. I feel like a social outcast, I don’t understand what’s wrong with me. People just don’t understand me? Now that I think about it, it’s not the people. I try to make friends, and fail, and before everyone freaks out that I’m gonna harm myself or anyone. I’m not that doesn’t resolve anything, I love you guys, it feels good to vent :)
Vent away and you fit in here:joyfull:

Thanks. It's partially my fault; I stayed over my friend's apartment last weekend and we didn't do much sleeping, and I haven't really caught up this week. I can't sleep in tomorrow, but Sunday...yeah, so sleeping in on Sunday.

I'm currently working in one of the shared offices with the lights out. Work's coffee bar also has Starbucks products, so I got a latte. Both are helping until I can go home and soak my poor head in the bathtub.
I don't suggest soaking your head, breathing is important;)

I have no idea what that is! T picked out a truck that detaches and turns into a shovel, I didn’t want to get anything that requires batteries, I’d hate it if a kid couldn’t play with something because of that.. I’ve forgotten to stock up on batteries prior to Christmas morning before! .. I wasn’t sure what age the gift was supposed to be for.. apparently it was any age, so we were ok.

Yes, that’s why I think it’s so confusing. 😂

Santa doesn’t come on St Nick night, St Nick is a separate figure to us, and he only leaves a stocking... but Santa is also Nicholas. It’s so strange to me when I think about it.. I understand why we celebrate both, but I’m surprised that it goes over so easily.lol
We never did St Nick as a separate thing, but then, we weren't Catholic, so maybe that's why. So it was never a confusing thing to me. It wasn't until I moved here where they do Sinterklaas, and I had kids who were doing all the Sinterklaas stuff at school while we did Christmas at home.
Funny story...when I was waiting to pick DS up from school yesterday, one of the mom's was saying her son set his shoe on the 4th and had colored a picture of Santa, who of course is not a "thing" here...and he wrote on it "Sinterklaas, is this your arch enemy?" :hilarious::hilarious:

We always just told our kids that Sinterklaas and Santa are cousins, and one does the US and the other does the Netherlands, and because I'm American, that's why they get presents from both. We always did just the small gifts for Sinterklaas....things you can put in their shoes. The bigger stuff was for Christmas because we had too much stuff to do around the 5th. DS's birthday is the 3rd, mine the 9th, and my nephew's the 16th. So we opted not to do much with Sinterklaas and to do more with Christmas. I've actually never heard of anyone in the US celebrating Saint Nicholas....you are the very first.

I don't want to diminish what you are experiencing....it may be really bad, but I just want you to know you aren't alone in how you are feeling. I think EVERYONE feels out of step from time to time...I know I sure did. And maybe what you are dealing with is on a whole different level, but I'm almost certain it will get better at some point. For some reason, a lot of people are just complete ignorant jerks in high school. Most of them hopefully grow out of it, but even if they don't, once you're out of high school, you can ignore them and you don't have to deal with them on a daily basis. And you don't have to go to reunions to see them if you'd rather not. I hope you find your niche soon, though...it will be a much more pleasant experience if you have a support system.

Apparently, we get different messages from different locations, but, having been a Catholic for 70 years I can truthfully state that there was never any confusion on my or my friends part. Santa Claus and St. Nickolas were always the same person. That is what we were told, that was in every Santa related Christmas story and music. Never even gave it a thought or even knew there was a separate St. Nickolas day that was ever recognized at all. And believe me from birth I was surrounded by the Church. My grandparents knew every Priest in northern N.Y. and every Saturday night one, two or three were at my grandparents house just to visit. On Christmas the parish Priest came to my Grandparents house for Christmas Dinner. Followed by 9 years in deeply immersed parochial School education were all subjects taught were actively connected to God. Be that math, history, or social studies and I can truthfully state that any separation was never mentioned concerning Santa Claus vs. St. Nickolas.

St. Nicholas Day is December 6th. He’s different from Santa. He leaves a stocking of fruit and goodies and a few small toys and a book. (At least in my House)

It’s not a day for bigger presents, and it’s not supposed to be from Santa’s list. T was thrilled, but of course said “It’s weird that St Nick brought me gifts that I asked for from Santa, right?”

Ugh. Huge mistake on my part. Especially since he just had a block of last semester dedicated to 12 Saints, and then a large test on them just before Thanksgiving.
You peaked my interest. Found a good article here that does a good job explaining it!
