Ivory Tower Squabble EST 2011. WINDMILL SURVIVOR
Human experiment is a great way to put it. A whole generation of people have been abused by those who probably never taught kids or had kids.

I have had a lot to say over the years about being raised Catholic and all that......

What positive thing I can say is those Nuns had a tried and true curriculum. We spent about the first 4 years learning our letters and numbers, basic math facts, learning phonics, learning spelling patterns to learn to read with phonics, add, subtract, multiple, divide. It was the foundation that was dwelled upon as we learned to write in both form of printing and cursive.

Oddly all those years my DD was in speech therapy the very core in the beginning was teaching her phonics to teach sound pronunciation. Those Nuns seemed to know what was most important in curriculum.

well Duluth MN is pretty cold, so understandable... but since this store is where I live, I'm ok with it.

Yep, my Brain still plays name association with some of the ports I either sweltered at or froze. Detroit, Duluth, Erie, Cleveland. There were some that were a lot prettier though. And almost all better than barge ports, nothing like waking up at 3am in the morning when a barge hits a bridge and scramble to find a baby sitter at that hours so drive off to Granite City or East St. Louis. Blurg. Yep name association still plagues me. :arghh:

I teared up during the letter writing and the whole adorable process of ‘magically’ printing out his letter, using a giant paper clip to send it over to another elf, then stamped and down the slide to be sent to Santa ❤️
T finally made a Christmas List! And he is the one who wanted to go in Santa’s post office!

Winterfest also had a horse drawn carriage ride this year.. $40. T wanted to skip ice skating tonight and do that instead. I thought, ‘ok it will be a nice ride around probably 2 or 3 sections of the park’ (each area is different themes)..
NOPE. The horse literally goes up a block, turns around, and goes immediately back. It lasted maybe 10 minutes.
One and Done on that activity.

The Blue Hot Chocolate and S’mores Hot Chocolate were both delicious! (Good thing as they were $7 each :cautious: )

We went “tubing” down a slide, took a ‘12 days of Christmas’ train ride, and shopped for a few ornaments and decorations at another new area which is all local vendors selling their crafts- I’m thrilled with this addition... And we met some fairies and Jack Frost..and T entered into a TV ;)

We also found Charlie Brown’s Christmas Tree. :)

It all looks nice and very festive. Glad T still believes!

It was! I’ve been having a tough time the past couple of weeks.. stressed out about work and T.. how fast the time is going and what I am missing..

Tonight was everything I needed in so many ways. I saw how seriously he took the letter to Santa.. it warms my heart so much!! I know this is our last year.. and I know he’s had doubts this year.. but he does believe, I want to savor every moment of this season!

Side note- I finally made it to one of T’s basketball games last night (first year playing for school, they’ve been in 3 tournaments already but always on Friday at 4 or 5 and Saturday mornings and afternoons, none of which are possible for me right now).

I think he was happy to see me rush in right before the game started. Today we made Christmas cookies, then soccer game, then Winterfest. I still haven’t had time to put up any lights or outside decorations. I’m one of two houses on my street who doesn’t have anything up. I’m hoping to find time at some point this week... may skip lights this year and only do my pre lit reindeer and snowman.. maybe I’ll buy a pre lit wreath for a lamp post to add something in the absence of lights on the house.

We do have our tree up, but skipped my inherited ‘village’ this year too. That whole set up is a lot of work. We also skipped the Disney monorail and opted for a train under the tree instead. I promised T that we will put up the monorail somewhere.
His room is the most festive at the moment, with lights all around and a little tree.lol
