Ivory Tower Squabble EST 2011. WINDMILL SURVIVOR
I have to go into work in about an hour. I took a half day today, luckily my afternoon will consist of my prep and my student teacher teaching class. So I just have to observe and not fall asleep.

By the way when we picked up the dog from the boarding kennel she was super excited and squealed. When I took my shower she sat outside the bathroom door and whimpered and whinned. She hasn't left my side since. I think she missed me.

Well did you stay awake?

Awe, sweet Pup missed her Mum.

I took my new Surface to work. It has Windows Hello on it, meaning the camera activates and it recognizes me to unlock. Only, well...I wear glasses at work, but I typically don't need them as much at home. So I programmed it without the glasses. So with the glasses, it's like "Well, who are you!" And then I take off the glasses, and it's like, "Hello, gorgeous.":hilarious:

Ha!!! I installed facial on my iPhone when I got it just before our F&G Disney Trip. I don't need my glasses for distance but have bifocals with clear on top and reading in the lower portion because I seemed to always be without my cheaters, losing them or playing hide and go seek. I went to bifocals for just that reason so I could read both at home, while shopping etc as ingredients, prices and expiration dates are small.

But I don't often wear them at Disney. So my iPhone was not recognizing me without glasses. I went back to the password and password it remained.

My parents are thinking about getting Echo dots and putting them throughout the house. There'd be about five of them throughout. We used to have an intercom system, but it hasn't worked for a while now, and my mom hates yelling through the house. So they're thinking about doing this so they can page the different Echos and then just patch the walls where the intercoms used to be.

My parents...they went from having dial up in 2008 to having a smart home in 2019.:hilarious:

Yeah, some of 'we' parents rely more and more with the tech world for guidance. Originally there was more lag time for me to catch up with my kids now not so much. It is usually me lagging behind to see if they embrace their purchase.

My DD bought me an Alexia for Christmas last year. I love her. Quicker than doing a search for quick info any other way. But I like the idea of a dot as an intercom. Duly noted!!! I would have loved Dots when my family was young. Call out any of their names and someone always thought they were in trouble for something which wasn't normally the case, just came across that way cause I needed to raise my voice which isn't typical for me.

For Mothers Day my Mom got an Alexia too. She got the hang of her quickly. Now if I can pry that Senior Citizen Jitterbug Flip Phone from her paws...I really hate that thing, she loves it for some reason but the screen is way too small for her to accurately see. Enter communication gaps that cells are supposed to ease.

I question if you would have even liked this particular snow storm. It started as rain then ice pellets for hours. Moved onto slush and then to huge and heavy snow flakes. A wet snow. It went down overnight to low 20s. At dawn it stopped. It was a foot deep but likely more cause it compacted into the slush below. You could walk on top of the snow it was to heavy to lift and you couldn't get the shovel down to the sidewalk anyhow or break it loose to clear. The cars were encased in ice and slush then frozen snow. It took hours to get snow and ice off the cars mainly by letting them run and warm spots to try and budge it. Kid just took an Uber to work.

The plow finally came here and plowed the driveway. To exit it is down hill so even with my 4x4 it was too risky cause if I couldn’t stop on the ice I’d hit the barn.

A bad first of the season sticking snow. Schools were closed so these kids have been off school since November 17th for Thanksgiving Break. Now it’s is going to get real cold so the crunchy snow and ice will be with us a while

But you’d likely enjoy looking at it more than being one with it.

The ariel has a colour matched mickey on it so our orange bird sits on a custom mount inside (you can just see him through the windscreen). Will get a better picture of him later.

Mickey and Orange Bird aside, I'm more intrigued by the checkerboard colors on the roof of your car!!

Never seen that done before--is that something more common in your area?

That is exactly what we did. A kids party and Family one cause I could never inflict my inlaw family and most of their kids on friends. None of us like them not even the kids own father liked them and it was his family. We did away with those types of parties when my kids were young teens and actually younger than that for the daughter. Why do something you hate?

My families idea of a birthday celebration is taking you out to buy whatever you want as a gift and then taking you out for a nice meal-you choice of where.
That is generally what we do for our kids' birthdays. They also each got a trip to Disney once for a birthday treat.

Thank you much better just a bit tired. I wound up waking up due to the storm making a few branches break. Tonight earplugs are going in.
Good to hear. We had some high winds last night as well, as told by my dh. He said he woke every 20 to 30 minutes last night due to what sounded like banging against the siding. He thinks it was one of the screens of our windows.
