@Songbird76 and @MySmallWorldof4 were posting about straws and lids being eliminated by Disney. I wanted to learn more so I put in a google search engine......and yup; straws will be eliminated at all Disney properties (except Japan) by mid-2019. The article also mentioned that Royal Caribbean will be eliminating straws as well. McDonalds will be experimenting with straw substitutes (whatever that will be.....my daughter mentioned PAPER straws instead of plastic??)
Additionally, 3 weeks ago we went to the Disney Outlet store in Jackson NJ and the cashier warned us that upon our next visit, the store will not be providing plastic bags to put our purchases in. We will either have to bring our own bags or buy their reusable bags.

Yesterday was our anniversary, so we had a nice day celebrating. My FIL has been struggling with health and his sister submitted his name for this trip to Lourdes France because it's a pilgrimage site where people go to pray, etc. The church pays for a trip there for sick people. They choose so many and they go for a week, and my FIL was chosen, so they just got back Friday night. So my husband and I dropped the kids off Saturday and we went to Arnhem. It was apparently the anniversary of Operation Market Garden in WWII, so there were British flags all over the place, and there was a scotish bagpipe and drum core.

I found some cool stuff at Primark. I got matching Stitch shirts and socks for DD and I, and they had a bunch of Beauty and the Beast Christmas ornaments, and HP ones, too. And we got some minnie mouse ornaments for my niece for christmas.

Then we went to dinner at a newish Mexican place we've been wanting to try. It wasn't what we were expecting, but it was good....I forgot to take pictures. We weren't impressed with the look...TINY tables, cheap chairs, and a lot of high tables with more barstool like chairs...just not a comfortable place. Not...inviting, I guess. It doesn't make you want to sit down and have an extended meal with family or friends. And the menu was very limited. We got quesadillas for a starter. Both a ground beef variety and a black bean one. They were both good. And then we got Enchiladas and fajitas for the mains and we shared. We got both with chicken. They were good, though we had ordered the fajitas without jalepeño and they even said it was without them when they served them, but there were tons of them on there. The fajitas didn't have much chicken...it was mostly carrot, so that was a bit odd, but they tasted fine. I liked the enchiladas better though. Then we got some sort of "Cake" to share for dessert. I use the term "cake" loosely because it was nothing like what I consider to be cake. It was this dense, hard chocolate thing (like a crunchy brownie) with flan on the top. It was not good. I've always thought flan was kind of a custard thing...smooth and silky. This was spongy, like scrambled egg. And very wet. It was just...very weird. DH had one bite and said "Nope. It's all yours."

So it was also a sort of city celebration where my inlaws live. They have a carnival, and every year they get a bunch of trucks...like 50 semis and a old fashioned American police cars, and they let handicapped people ride in them in a parade. It goes right past my in-laws house, and everyone comes out of their houses and waves and the drivers honk and flash their lights. The handicapped people LOVE it. I saw one woman was bouncing up and down in her seat with excitement as she waved out the window, and one guy...probably early 20s, had an Elmo plush that he was making it wave for him. One of DH's cousins has spinabifida, and she's ridden in it before. Most of them have Down Syndrome, but there are some others as well. They look forward to it all year, so it's kind of neat to watch it go past and wave to them.

Then we took the kids to the carnival and played skeeball and got enough points so DS could get a stuffed dragon, DD a stuffed owl, and DS got a slinky and a fidget spinner.
Then we took the kids back to my in-laws' and we went to the movies to see The Spy Who Dumped Me. A few graphic parts, but it was a pretty fun movie. So that was our Saturday.
Happy belated anniversary!!!

They use paper at Animal Kingdom currently. They work fine. After a little bit it gets gross though.

How will this work in the parks? Will we need to bring our own plastic bags for laundry? They do know the bags can be recycled? Why don’t they just provide bins to place plastic bags in for recycling like they have at Target, Walmart, and probably every grocery store?

Exactly.
My wife likes to end her MK visit with some shopping on Main Street. If we arrive at 9am, Disney expects us to bring our own reusable shopping bags and carry them around for 12 hours so that at 9pm we have them available?

I dont like these either.. they are called "chococflans". and honestly, they are sort of the cheapest cakes and deserts you can get from Mexico.
The Flan is cheaply made so it doesnt taste good.
I prefer the normal good old dense Flan or a normal full blown chocolate cake.
So it's actually a real thing in Mexico? I assumed it was some weird Dutch person was like...oh hey....Flan is a typical Mexican dessert, let's put it on top of a chocolate monstrosity and call it Mexican. Because most things over here are not authentic. I went to an "American breakfast buffet" once and the only thing American about it were the names. The pancakes were Dutch pancakes, not American ones, and they didn't have maple syrup. They served the cereal with yogurt, which is Dutch....Americans use milk. The scrambled eggs had salmon chunks in them....I've never heard of putting salmon in scrambled eggs. Bacon, yes...salmon? No. They didn't have bacon or sausage, they didn't have waffles....there was just nothing American about it. And my friends here from Mexico said that what they call Mexican food in the Netherlands is not authentic. So I figured it was a Dutch invention using Mexican food components, so they call it Mexican food.

He actually isn't too bad about stuff. I did have one of his credit cards which I just paid off every month when the statement came before my credit was good enough that I no longer needed it. Sometimes he would ask why the bill was higher one month, and I would explain why and he would shrug it off and be like, "Okay." Most months he didn't say anything.

He just has certain things that he thinks you shouldn't spend money on if you can do it yourself, like washing a car. For me, the last time I tried to wash a car, it took me hours and I didn't do a very good job. It's not worth it when I can pay $10, get a gas discount, and be done with it. Actually, I always thought growing up that car washes were super expensive and that's why we did it ourselves. Then, when I started having to put gas in the cars and saw how cheap it was, I was like, "Really?" I washed the car myself for as long it was a car in my parents' names. Now I'm done with that.

He's also obsessive when it comes to the cars. He was nagging me for a while to get a different license plate frame then the standard dealer one. I agreed on that one; I just gave them a bunch of money, why also give them free advertising? I found a nice metal Ravens one. I was going to go put it on myself, but then I decided to just leave it by the cabinet near the garage door to see what happened. Sure enough, it got on the the car itself. Gee, how'd that happen? :hilarious:
Wow...MAGIC! I wish chores would magically get done in my house. If I leave something out near where it needs to go...it will still be there a month later if I don't do it. I guess everyone ELSE in the house is probably convinced that everything gets done by magic.:hilarious: Somehow the clean dishes magially remove themselves from the dishwasher and put themselves away. Laundry magically hangs itself up to dry and then folds itself and puts itself away. Or so they believe.

That's the way the grocery stores here have been for years. And now they have banned plastic bags for everything except like meat or things that could get contaminated if they aren't in plastic. But clothing stores and such no longer have plastic bags. I have a bunch of those small nylon bags that fold up into a pocket and I keep them in my purse so whenever I buy stuff, I just pull out one of those bags and then when I unpack it at home, the bag gets folded up and put back in the purse. And I have a big grocery bag on wheels so I don't have to carry things like milk jugs and juice packs, etc. Primark sells the foldable nylon ones with Disney prints, Harry Potter, Friends, etc.

I love Garrett cheese popcorn! Hubs has to go to Chicago in a couple weeks for some church stuff so I'm looking forward to him bringing back a big bag of cheese for me. He like the buttery flavor. My hubs is originally from the Chicago area so the only good thing about visiting his family at Christmas is going to Garrett's. I know I could order it online but I figure once I do then I will be ordering it every week! And I don't need that, want it yes but need....no.

Right? Me too... but since Chicago is only 3 hours from me, I try to limit myself to only when I actually go to Chicago. I'm fluffy enough!

So I'm not complaining about our weather, this is just an observation of our weather. Last weekend it was so hot outside it was in the 90's and there was barely a breeze. This weekend I woke up to 38 degrees F yesterday with a high of 62, today (I woke up 2 hours later than normal) it was 45 degrees F and is going to be 65. It is funny how much can change in a week. @MinnieM123 must be having an influence on me because I am really enjoying these cooler temps.

Amen to cooler temps.. same here in Michigan. Was 45 this morning and suppose to get up to 65 or 70 today.
