Sympathy like and lots of pixie dust. How did he do with FOTLK and FNTM shows? I'm sure your dd and dh will want to ride Dinosaur is there any chance you can do rider swap and he'll want to play in the boneyard?
Is FNTM Fantasmic? He did fine with all the shows except It's tough to be a bug...that one was awful. And the end of Nemo, with the bubbles, he was upset that he couldn't catch a bubble. All the other shows he was fine with. Dinosaur was closed last time, so I don't know what that is and whether they will want to ride it or not, but my understanding is there is a suspenseful part, so DS won't do that....but he might play in the boneyard. I'm thinking we'll have to do rider swap for FOP, because he doesn't like heights. I'm going to have to really do my research on AK this time.

I'm not judging how she chooses to spend her money on washing her car. I just hear so many horror stories about automatic ones I wouldn't use one. No judgement. It only takes me about an hour to wash and polish my fiat so that gets done by hand. The work car goes in for someone else to do it. So I am full in agreement she should spend her money how she wants.
Sorry if I came across judgemental. Wasn't my intention.
No no....I don't mean YOU, I meant her dad. I don't know why it's so important to him that she doesn't take her car to the carwash...it's her car, and her money. It just boggles my mind that he would even mention it. And you have your reasons for not wanting to do the automatic one. If her dad doesn't like carwashes, no one is making him use them. That just gives me flashbacks to my own life where you'd think I had murdered someone if I did something a different way than my mother. Her way was the ONLY acceptable way.
I didn't mean to make it sound like YOU were being judgemental. I was agreeing with you....that it's your own preferences and you should do what you feel comfortable with. Sorry that didn't come across.

My aunt is in Chicago this weekend, so I told her not to forget to get some Garrett's popcorn. She texted me a picture of the bag last night...ooo I'm so jealous! :hungry:

I love Garrett cheese popcorn! Hubs has to go to Chicago in a couple weeks for some church stuff so I'm looking forward to him bringing back a big bag of cheese for me. He like the buttery flavor. My hubs is originally from the Chicago area so the only good thing about visiting his family at Christmas is going to Garrett's. I know I could order it online but I figure once I do then I will be ordering it every week! And I don't need that, want it yes but need....no.

The thing we were most looking forward to was the petting zoo type thing for DS. There were at least goats there, if not sheep, which DS is obsessed with. And he loves anything soft and fluffy. He's almost 11, but if you take him to a carnival, he wants to play the kiddie games to win a stuffed animal. So because our experience at AK was so bad last time, we were counting on the petting zoo for him to have a GOOD experience at AK. Back to the drawing board.

Oh, I see. I read that the new behind the scenes tour at AK with the rhinos might include the opportunity to touch one. Maybe he would like that. As for petting zoo type things, I wonder if Fort Wilderness would offer anything like that, or might those goats will have to go somewhere. Hopefully something will turn up for you.

So I'm not complaining about our weather, this is just an observation of our weather. Last weekend it was so hot outside it was in the 90's and there was barely a breeze. This weekend I woke up to 38 degrees F yesterday with a high of 62, today (I woke up 2 hours later than normal) it was 45 degrees F and is going to be 65. It is funny how much can change in a week. @MinnieM123 must be having an influence on me because I am really enjoying these cooler temps.

Dinosaur is a open jeep ride, kind of like the Indiana Jones ride at DL (if you’ve been there). It’s pretty suspenseful (darkness, big dinos, etc.), but if your dd and dh are into that kind of thing, I’m sure they’ll like it. The third row is the best row, in my opinion.

Yesterday was our anniversary, so we had a nice day celebrating. My FIL has been struggling with health and his sister submitted his name for this trip to Lourdes France because it's a pilgrimage site where people go to pray, etc. The church pays for a trip there for sick people. They choose so many and they go for a week, and my FIL was chosen, so they just got back Friday night. So my husband and I dropped the kids off Saturday and we went to Arnhem. It was apparently the anniversary of Operation Market Garden in WWII, so there were British flags all over the place, and there was a scotish bagpipe and drum core.

I found some cool stuff at Primark. I got matching Stitch shirts and socks for DD and I, and they had a bunch of Beauty and the Beast Christmas ornaments, and HP ones, too. And we got some minnie mouse ornaments for my niece for christmas.

Then we went to dinner at a newish Mexican place we've been wanting to try. It wasn't what we were expecting, but it was good....I forgot to take pictures. We weren't impressed with the look...TINY tables, cheap chairs, and a lot of high tables with more barstool like chairs...just not a comfortable place. Not...inviting, I guess. It doesn't make you want to sit down and have an extended meal with family or friends. And the menu was very limited. We got quesadillas for a starter. Both a ground beef variety and a black bean one. They were both good. And then we got Enchiladas and fajitas for the mains and we shared. We got both with chicken. They were good, though we had ordered the fajitas without jalepeño and they even said it was without them when they served them, but there were tons of them on there. The fajitas didn't have much chicken...it was mostly carrot, so that was a bit odd, but they tasted fine. I liked the enchiladas better though. Then we got some sort of "Cake" to share for dessert. I use the term "cake" loosely because it was nothing like what I consider to be cake. It was this dense, hard chocolate thing (like a crunchy brownie) with flan on the top. It was not good. I've always thought flan was kind of a custard thing...smooth and silky. This was spongy, like scrambled egg. And very wet. It was just...very weird. DH had one bite and said "Nope. It's all yours."

So it was also a sort of city celebration where my inlaws live. They have a carnival, and every year they get a bunch of trucks...like 50 semis and a old fashioned American police cars, and they let handicapped people ride in them in a parade. It goes right past my in-laws house, and everyone comes out of their houses and waves and the drivers honk and flash their lights. The handicapped people LOVE it. I saw one woman was bouncing up and down in her seat with excitement as she waved out the window, and one guy...probably early 20s, had an Elmo plush that he was making it wave for him. One of DH's cousins has spinabifida, and she's ridden in it before. Most of them have Down Syndrome, but there are some others as well. They look forward to it all year, so it's kind of neat to watch it go past and wave to them.

Then we took the kids to the carnival and played skeeball and got enough points so DS could get a stuffed dragon, DD a stuffed owl, and DS got a slinky and a fidget spinner.
Then we took the kids back to my in-laws' and we went to the movies to see The Spy Who Dumped Me. A few graphic parts, but it was a pretty fun movie. So that was our Saturday.

If the carwash is one where someone else pressure cleans your car then I am with you both.
If it's an automated one then :in pain: I would never use one of them especially if it's a new car ...
It's automated, but it's touchless (no brushes, bristles, etc.). Just high pressure sprays and soap.

I need to start running it through about once every other time I get gas. It was so disgusting.

Mr Ferret 75

Thank you sir. You were an inspiration.

I dont like these either.. they are called "chococflans". and honestly, they are sort of the cheapest cakes and deserts you can get from Mexico.
The Flan is cheaply made so it doesnt taste good.
I prefer the normal good old dense Flan or a normal full blown chocolate cake.

Hmmm. Good point. Where will all the petting zoo animals go? Fort Wilderness would be a perfect place.

Cups with no lids for kids? Stupid idea. My guess is that whoever came up with this plan has no kids. Also do they think in the hot Florida sun that adults won’t walk around with cups. That liquid will slosh everywhere and on anyone.
@Songbird76 and @MySmallWorldof4 were posting about straws and lids being eliminated by Disney. I wanted to learn more so I put in a google search engine......and yup; straws will be eliminated at all Disney properties (except Japan) by mid-2019. The article also mentioned that Royal Caribbean will be eliminating straws as well. McDonalds will be experimenting with straw substitutes (whatever that will be.....my daughter mentioned PAPER straws instead of plastic??)

I just think it's kind of silly to be offended by how someone else chooses to spend their time or money. Ok, if you don't want to use YOUR money to go to a car wash, fine....but why shouldn't I? It's like being offended because someone orders something different than you in a restaurant. I don't like fish, so that would be a waste of money for me. But I wouldn't think it was stupid for someone else to order fish if that's what they prefer. If you aren't the one paying for it, why does it matter what someone else does with their money? I buy the pre-chopped lettuce at the store. Yes, I could buy a head of lettuce and chop it myself, but I have a job where I'm on my feet all the time and I get home and I'm exhausted. And I hate chopping! It might cost more to buy the pre-cut, but it's worth it to me to not have to spend more time on my feet doing something I hate. Call it lazy, but life is too short to worry about that if you can afford it. I have enough work without creating more for myself. If I can pay someone else to wash my car for me so I don't have to try to fit it into my schedule, heck yes I am going to do it. It baffles me that @StarWarsGirl would need to justify to her dad how she spends the money the SHE earns at HER job, for HER car. That's the kind of thing that used to drive me nuts about my mom. Just because YOU prefer a certain way doesn't mean that's right for everyone, or that someone else's way is wrong because it doesn't work for you. Live and let live.
He actually isn't too bad about stuff. I did have one of his credit cards which I just paid off every month when the statement came before my credit was good enough that I no longer needed it. Sometimes he would ask why the bill was higher one month, and I would explain why and he would shrug it off and be like, "Okay." Most months he didn't say anything.

He just has certain things that he thinks you shouldn't spend money on if you can do it yourself, like washing a car. For me, the last time I tried to wash a car, it took me hours and I didn't do a very good job. It's not worth it when I can pay $10, get a gas discount, and be done with it. Actually, I always thought growing up that car washes were super expensive and that's why we did it ourselves. Then, when I started having to put gas in the cars and saw how cheap it was, I was like, "Really?" I washed the car myself for as long it was a car in my parents' names. Now I'm done with that.

He's also obsessive when it comes to the cars. He was nagging me for a while to get a different license plate frame then the standard dealer one. I agreed on that one; I just gave them a bunch of money, why also give them free advertising? I found a nice metal Ravens one. I was going to go put it on myself, but then I decided to just leave it by the cabinet near the garage door to see what happened. Sure enough, it got on the the car itself. Gee, how'd that happen? :hilarious:
