DD's school schedule was slightly altered for this week. (School here is so different!!!) Apparently over the weekend, a 13 year old boy who is a 2nd year student at her school, died in a soccer accident. I'm not sure exactly what happened....I thought I read that 2 kids collided, but someone else said no, a boy kicked the ball and it hit the kid in the head. The goalie was out because of an injury, and this kid was the tallest or biggest, so he filled in, took a ball to the head, and he collapsed. They did CPR and revived him and he died at the hospital. So they brought in grief counselors for the 2nd years, canceled school ID pictures, and I think they were having some sort of an assembly. I'm sure the family would appreciate any prayers you might be inclined to send their way. So so sad...just a fluke accident. We think it might have been someone on DS's best friend's team, but we're not sure and don't want to ask, but we talked to DS about not peppering him with questions in case it was a friend and he's really sad.

No issues. We didn't even know about it until we woke up, have been having regular thunderstorms lately. Thanks for checking in! It's actually passed us within the last hour.

Thinking about a road trip Wednesday. It's B's only day off and our anniversary is Friday.

Leaning towards renting a convertible and taking it to Islamorada for lunch and coming right back. Then again, it's 2 hours to Islamorada - only one more hour to...
I would go to Key West.:) Go see some 5 toed cats and free roaming chickens.;)

Thank you!!! :)
The views are indeed amazing, and even more so in person...!!!!!
When it comes to the cantilevered terraces/decks, I have no problem whatsoever with them...they were engineered by the same guy that did our firms office building that we lease space out of to other companies, including a medical research company. He’s well-known for over-engineering the carp out of everything, and that costs more $$$$$, but, it’s worth the peace of mind...!!!!! ;):)
And yes, the salsa has chunks of garlicky goodness in it, as well as plenty of decent kick without overpowering, and the chips are perfect...!!!!! :hungry:

Thank you again about our kiddos, and thanks for asking about oldest DD!!!
The official due date is October 11th...DSs birthday is Oct. 7th, and mine is Oct. 20th.
All is well with DD and baby, and we are all looking forward to whenever granddaughter is ready to start her adventure with us all...!!!!! :hilarious:;):)

Again, thank you so much for asking...!!! :)
Sounds great! Cannot wait to see you post her first picture with you.:)

I’m one of the few parents who dreads going back to school. This year so far is absolutely nuts between the new job the same day of T’s first day.

I’ve already missed the “class shirt” deadline. Now frantically contacting everyone to find out who the vendor is so I can just call myself. Haven’t had any luck, so I’m calling the school tomorrow and hoping the secretary can give me the info. This is one time when I hate that I don’t attend PTA meetings. :(

In my defense (somewhat) every year our run and Class tee shirt orders come home in the way of a paper form to be filled out and sent back with a check for the 2 items. This year it was a random email by an address that I don’t have “starred”.. I totally missed it!!!
I saw the email on Friday around 5pm.. deadline was 11am. Emailed the person in charge and she told me “no late exceptions”
Really? No exceptions? That is unbelievable. There can easily be an exception. It is just a t shirt. I am sure the company screen printing them(assuming this is what is being done), can easily add one more. Ridiculous.

So my brother was supposed to start school tomorrow. But we have a hear wave and are expecting heat indices in the 100s tomorrow, and his is one of the schools that is unairconditioned. So...no school for him tomorrow. I'm working from home tomorrow, so guess I'm keeping him here. He was actually looking forward to going back and is super disappointed.
They had early dismissals at some schools near here last week that didn't have air conditioning. The 3 hours counted as a full day.

Day one home school and geometry is already done for the day:joyfull: At this rate we may be able spend the afternoon at the pool to log physical activity
and reading
:joyfull:
Fantastic! James is a real ambitious kid. I love that! We usually start at 8. Cannot believe he started before 6. Good for him! :) Best part of homeschool is the afternoons are usually free.;)

Huh....I don't remember ever having fireworks for Labor Day! But then, we never really celebrated labor day as such....it was more a "Yay! We have a day off school!". Sorry people are being inconsiderate with the fireworks.
When I was a kid and even when my daughters were school age, I/they never even went back to school until the day after Labor Day. Nothing to celebrate for us. A lot of us, as adults, had to work on Labor Day and in most cases it wasn't even considered a paid day. As it will probably be getting back to now... laborers were a whole lot less then important in the view of the wealthy business owners who considered it a loss of production and/or a day when they paid people to stay home. Not really a popular thing to celebrate for them.

That is truly so unspeakably sad. I think they have done away with kids hitting the balls with their heads here because of the dangers. Prayers to the family. Just devastating.

The most enjoyable drive I ever had was on my way to and from Key West. I got lucky and both directions were beautiful days. I stopped at every pull off (mostly were they had turned the original road into fishing and walking access) and just looked at one side and the other. Atlantic Ocean on one side and the Gulf on the other. Same water, but, for some reason it just looked different. Key West is also a unique place and second only to New Orleans for being off the chart different then any other cities in the U.S.

This is our 4th year at that school. I have never once seen a kid in a hand me down shirt that didn’t match the rest of the class!!!!

I understand that I made a mistake, but there has to be some way to put in one more order.. even if I have to pay more or have to do it myself and pick up myself. The run is in 2 weeks! That should be enough time for both tee shirts!

So here’s the last one I sent, but haven’t received a response-
