When I was a kid and even when my daughters were school age, I/they never even went back to school until the day after Labor Day. Nothing to celebrate for us. A lot of us, as adults, had to work on Labor Day and in most cases it wasn't even considered a paid day. As it will probably be getting back to now... laborers were a whole lot less then important in the view of the wealthy business owners who considered it a loss of production and/or a day when they paid people to stay home. Not really a popular thing to celebrate for them.
This is tradition in Cincinnati on Labor Day, it’s called Riverfest/WEBN (a radio station) Fireworks.
I’ve never taken my son because it’s just so crowded, on both sides of the river.. but I told him on Sunday that we will go in the next 2 years.
It’s televised locally as well, the music and show is amazing.
