Today, we got a call to the house, a survey call from GM about their car-buying experience.

Person asked if I was at least 50% responsible for the decision on the new vehicle, after I told them that the person who made the decision (Mom and Dad) was not home..

What I said: No.
What I wanted to say: No, but I just bought a Honda. Do you wanna hear about that?
:hilarious:

I never liked Monopoly. It always takes forever.
I love Monopoly. Unfortunately, no one will play it with me for some reason, so I have an app to play by myself against an AI on my phone.
They say it's something about being obnoxious about it.
And laughing when the game is going my way.
And being absolutely merciless.
And then continued laughter about how I am being merciless.

Speaking of dogs, my dog, Jack, sometimes stares . . . at the wall, too.

I found out today that the public schools here start August 15! So early this year. I am not ready for a new school year yet.

What ever happened to kids going back to school the day after Labor Day? When I was a kid, we always enjoyed a long summer break for a few months. I feel bad for the kids (in some locations) going back so early. Right after the 4th of July this summer, I started seeing ads for back to school supplies--crazy . . .

The school district that is starting August 15th.....do you know when they finished last June? When do they plan to finish this year? Late May? Very early June?
They get done the Friday before Memorial Day. The purpose of starting 2 plus weeks before Memorial Day is so the kids can supposedly get more study time for the state testing. They used to start the week before Memorial Day and it got chenged abruptly 3 years ago before the school year ended. Many families including teachers had planned their vacations based on the traditional calender. It caused an uproar but it didn’t matter. They worry way to much over testing. Just my opinion.

Sympathy like. I won't have even taken my summer vacation at that point.

That MD law that schools have to end by June 15th and cannot start until after Labor Day is really quite wonderful...
I remember you mentioning that. We drove into MD when we saw The Incredibles. We passed by a school on the way and dh was wondering why there were so many cars at the school. I let him know about the law you mentioned. He said that it was a great idea. Makes no sense to start school in a Northeast state in the heat of the summer. They still get their 2 plus months off but they don’t really get the better weather. I won’t start until the week before Labor Day.

Lol. I like playing Monopoly too, but I haven’t played it in a long time. We used to play it a lot (and my younger sister would usually win:hilarious:).
