@93boomer and @dryerlintfan , here is the redesigned front of World of Disney (Disney Marketplace). I saw some children staring in awe of the Cinderella coach on top of the sign (the older top, before redesign, was Stitch, correct?).

Anyway, I thought about people here with children when I took this picture. (And, @dryerlintfan , there are more princess dresses in there than you can shake a stick at!! "A" would love this place!! :joyfull: )

It's my arthritis. I have to wear sturdy non-slip shoes but usually I'm barefoot.

Sympathy like.
Yea, if we're up to me, I'd be barefoot all the time (as I am right now). Fortunately, and as all here are more than well aware of, I have no problem with flip flops whatsoever, and would wear them all the time I needed just some sole protection ;), but, I also realize the inappropriateness of them in many situations...but, LONG LIVE FLIP FLOPS.....!!!!!!! :hilarious:

One must be careful with that kind of thing. A possible response to that statement is... You're right you are an adult now, don't you think it is time to be out on your own?
True true. Although mine definitely are not in a hurry to make me go anywhere, it's a very fine line walking between "Yes, I live here, but no, I don't need to be told what to do."

I too took a nap today. Migraine. We had some bad storms come through today. It's gone now, but the storms were bad. I was woken up at one point by a crash of lightning outside my window. It was loud. Of course, me being me, I double checked that I didn't need to go to the basement and then went back to sleep.

The cut off now (per USSF) is Jan 1 to December 31st. Previously the rules always had a cut off, but it favored the school year.. usually August 1st. Baseball switched last year to a May cut off.. but allowed kids to play up.

My Brother and I both have summer birthdays, my sister has a late September (youngest in her grade), and none of us ever played below our grade level. But, I can understand the “late birthdays” having a choice.

My son’s birthday is mid April. So he will be one of the oldest “2010” kids, and be playing with the youngest 2011 kids (1st graders). Not allowing them to play up, forcing 3rd graders to repeat a 3rd year of an intro level, is nothing short of a horrible mistake.

It works in Club soccer because they are in single birth years.. not 2 combined.

I’m leaving the decision up to him, but we may withdraw from the team.. something I never thought would happen.
All of our sports are June 1st. It is just like our schools enrollment September 1. Born September 2 they miss that school year. Actually my son never minded. He had friends one year that were a grade older and the next year friends a year younger on his teams. He played lots of sports in elementary school. We never had a choice. We knew the cut off dates were firm and we just rolled with it. The cut off dates were set before they were born.

We debated sending my daughter to private school since she missed a school year. We thought it through and didn’t want her to be the last to drive etc by being pushed up and her being out of whack with age groups for activities so we went with the flow. Really both came out the other side happy and well.

I can’t roll with this. I want every parents/kids who are impacted by this stupid rule to fight it this year, to demand that their kid play up if the kid wants to.
I hate even using the word “up” because it’s the natural progression. He signed up for SAY Wings, which is what he was supposed to do, and then was moved down to SAY Passers.
Passers is 2 years of play, not 3 (Fall would be his 3rd year). It’s also a Size 3 soccer ball.. my kid has been playing with a Size 4 since October, because that’s regulation for his age now. Now he’s supposed to go backwards to a smaller ball and smaller goal? I can’t even imagine going to the store and intentionally buying him a smaller sized soccer ball than what he’s already been playing with. It’s not even logical.

The organization can change their rules to Birth Year, it’s nonsensical in a 2 year spread in the younger ages, but that’s their choice if they want to harm youth soccer in the long run.. but for kids who are currently playing- there should be an exception for them to progress on the same road that they’ve been..they’re not starting this way from entering into the sport, they just got stuck in the middle after already playing for a few years. It’s just not right to do that to any kid. Especially not to the kids who are finally getting out of Passers and Lollipop. There will also be kids, 1st graders, who will be stuck in Lollipop for a 3rd year.. with 3-4 year olds. It’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. Many of those 1st graders will gr bored and frustrated, and end up quitting, I can not believe the contrary. My son would never have his love of soccer in 1st grade, or been able to go to Premier in 2nd grade, if he would have still been playing lollipop in 1st grade. I feel sorry for all of the affected 1st graders as well. Some will be playing with a 3rd grader (any 3rd grader born after January 1, so definitely not ‘late birthdays’), and some will be playing with Kindergarten and Preschoolers. 2 whole birth years encompass 3 school ‘grades’/years.

On a related note, I’m also waiting to find out how this will impact high school teams. Will 8th graders be playing Fall High School ball when they don’t even know what high school they’re going to? How will that work?! Are the kids who are held back going to be behind everyone else when they reach 8th grade? I really want answers to these questions.

Well, that was fun... :cyclops:;) Headin' back tomorrow to, hopefully, finish up...!!! :)

I hope you get in a little rest for yourself this weekend--seems like you've been working every day (all positive, helping out the family). But, I think you also need a nap. ;)

@MinnieM123 look at the fun mug my husband picked up for me at the Disney outlet!

That's very nice of him. Yesterday, I was strolling through Target, and I was surprised to see all the Disney-related merchandise they had. I assume it's the same across the country. Next time you're in Target (if one is near you), check it out! :)

This is my favorite (tray service) 24-hour, cafeteria on WDW hotel property. It's at the Dolphin, and I go there a number of times (while I'm staying over at the Swan -- across the walkway between Swan & Dolphin). Prices aren't bad and the portions are generous. What I love is the whimsical design--very cheery and upbeat. It's popular with families (and also business travelers, when taking a break from a convention in the hotel).

(It was mid-afternoon one day and wide open, before the dinner crowds arrive. So I was able to get a few pictures.) :)

We were in Target last weekend and saw some of the Mickey merch. I bought some paper plates and tee-shirt/sweatshirt. I'll probably be going back to Target next weekend so I'll browse some more. There was a lot of cute stuff.

I've never been in that place so it was nice of you to share some pictures. I'm loving your pictures by the way, you always have an interesting perspective on things. :)

Funny you should mention that...
I got up at 7a this mornin' and started gettin' ready to get back at it, when DWifey mentioned she had gotten a text from oldest DD earlier sayin' that we all needed a break, so we're not goin' back today...!!!!! :hilarious:
I then, indeed, went back to bed for a little more "nap"...!!! ;)
Things were goin' fine, but, when it comes right down to it, they don't even need to be out of their old place until early July (another story), so there's tons of time to get everything they want done, and done right, before they move in.
And, frankly, even though I'm still a pretty tough ol' dog, after the last few days, I have parts of me that are sore that I even forgot I had...!!!!!!! :in pain::hilarious::in pain::hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:;)

@Cesar R M and @ajrwdwgirl , I have drafted a letter and am now assembling a group to go door to door as well as an email campaign.

I want to collect over 1000 signatures, and I’ve spoken to friends in different cities/states to do the same. Maybe it won’t make a difference, but we’re going to try. Unfortunately, I can’t use social media as a tool :(

@ajrwdwgirl , if you hear any grumbling from students/parents at your school, please let me know! I will send you my personal email or a website that I’m hoping to create in the coming days.

Grass roots campaigns can work, right? Someone has to try anyway.
