I just spent so much money on stuff for my bathroom. :greedy:

But I'm obsessed with some of it.

We're not redoing anything too major. It's basically getting a new towel rack and a fresh coat of paint (on my parents) and then new accessories (on me). The paint really needs to be done, though. It's chipping.

The walls are going to be grey green, so all the accessories are basically on the black/white/silver (mostly silver) color pallet.

Now for the highlights...

From Bed Bath and Beyond...
A toothbrush holder and soap dish

And because I'll never actually be fully an adult, bathmats...

And now from Amazon, who already gets too much of my money.

A toilet brush, because there isn't currently one in my bathroom, and I never thought I could be this obsessed with one...

A tissue box cover, because I'm pretty sure the one I have is older than I am (also, check out that price)

Adhesives at the bottom of the tub, because we used to have Mickey at the bottom, and all of them have worn away over the 17 years since we put them there, and I'm terrified I'm going to fall and go to the eR, and have to put as the reason "Lack of adhesive ducks" (or flowers now in my case)

This, the only thing not a neutral color, which will be a hamper, because there used to be one in there, and there hasn't been for over a year (the other one broke) and it's driving me bonkers.

And then this magnifying mirror, which I'm already obsessed with...

Teehee. They were both actually part of a larger collection, but the Minnie one was gold, which doesn't work with the color pallet I'm going for here, and the rest of the Mickey one was too little-kids-y.

My existing artwork is staying, though...

Welcome home and glad you had a safe return. What would you say was the highlight of your trip? (Oh, did you go on FOP, by the way?) I liked all the artistic theme throughout Pandora. It was hard to take pictures, because there was so much in terms of height, that my small phone could not capture in the lens. I posted one below, and then the headshot in the Pandora gift shop, after I came off FOP.

Pandora was interesting. I liked it better at night even-though all the lights were not on yet. Flights of Passage was wonderful except the lame pre-show and I still don't quite understand why Avatar has a land. The restraints are supposed to release you but mine never did so they had to do that by hand. Which took 0.2 seconds.

My mom and sister went on the river ride and didn't really like it. Too short. But the queues are huge. Like they can almost fit another ride in there and directions are needed to find out where the rides are. The tree was good. Would rather watch that then the castle show. I had to leave MK the first night because I couldn't handle all the people on Main Street. Which we went up to the top of the Contemporary and best spot ever.

I also went on Frozen for the first time. Nice but has tons of dark spots where nothing is in the ride. Guardians seems to be coming along. You could see steel rising. You could tell Epcot was crowded: Figment and Nemo had about an hour sometimes, and Mission: Space Orange had 90 minutes.

I can’t roll with this. I want every parents/kids who are impacted by this stupid rule to fight it this year, to demand that their kid play up if the kid wants to.
I hate even using the word “up” because it’s the natural progression. He signed up for SAY Wings, which is what he was supposed to do, and then was moved down to SAY Passers.
Passers is 2 years of play, not 3 (Fall would be his 3rd year). It’s also a Size 3 soccer ball.. my kid has been playing with a Size 4 since October, because that’s regulation for his age now. Now he’s supposed to go backwards to a smaller ball and smaller goal? I can’t even imagine going to the store and intentionally buying him a smaller sized soccer ball than what he’s already been playing with. It’s not even logical.

The organization can change their rules to Birth Year, it’s nonsensical in a 2 year spread in the younger ages, but that’s their choice if they want to harm youth soccer in the long run.. but for kids who are currently playing- there should be an exception for them to progress on the same road that they’ve been..they’re not starting this way from entering into the sport, they just got stuck in the middle after already playing for a few years. It’s just not right to do that to any kid. Especially not to the kids who are finally getting out of Passers and Lollipop. There will also be kids, 1st graders, who will be stuck in Lollipop for a 3rd year.. with 3-4 year olds. It’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. Many of those 1st graders will gr bored and frustrated, and end up quitting, I can not believe the contrary. My son would never have his love of soccer in 1st grade, or been able to go to Premier in 2nd grade, if he would have still been playing lollipop in 1st grade. I feel sorry for all of the affected 1st graders as well. Some will be playing with a 3rd grader (any 3rd grader born after January 1, so definitely not ‘late birthdays’), and some will be playing with Kindergarten and Preschoolers. 2 whole birth years encompass 3 school ‘grades’/years.

On a related note, I’m also waiting to find out how this will impact high school teams. Will 8th graders be playing Fall High School ball when they don’t even know what high school they’re going to? How will that work?! Are the kids who are held back going to be behind everyone else when they reach 8th grade? I really want answers to these questions.

I genuinely feel your pain.

I felt it for academics for my daughter, she hit that ick word, 'gifted' academically. There were many backwardly sexist provisions back then for boys vs girls, math boys vs reading girls. Academics meant a great deal to me like sports mean a great deal to you. Me my solution was to run for public election.

Education meant so much to me along with genuine change to the sexist education where we live. I ran for election and won. I was able to bring change for young women that had long lasting change over the years. I suggest that to you. Complaining only goes so far. Putting yourself in the ying and yang of both sides in the cross hairs of both sides of the issue can bring both reflection of common compromise vs individual wants and needs.

Public service through election to pubic office is rewarding and enlightening. Something to think about if you wish to bring upon change to an established system that the majority are fine with because it is the norm. The backside is the kiddos get stuck in the cross-hairs of the parents wants and desires. My son escaped my desire for girls to be treated equally, my DD did not. The girls thereafter did. Know if you are willing for yourself and your kid are willing to take the backlash. We can usually take it as adults, our kids not always. Think carefully if your kid is up to the backlash. Ultimately I viewed my success was not for my daughter but the other daughters that followed her. My daughter got it. She supported it. I knew what I was trying to change was for those who would follow, not for my own child. Sadly any change is not often quick no matter what the topic, often the fight is for those that follow. It is a hard choice. Go with the long established protocol or buck the system despite the fall out for the kid for the parents choice to buck the system. I get it. I did it for academics vs sports. I wish you the best no matter what you choose for your son. Pixie dust.

Yes, I've heard that Pandora is even better at night. As for the pre-show in FOP, I kinda liked it--it was new and oddly fun. (Also, a week before I got there, I decided to watch Pandora on DVD, just to get a better idea of what it was all about--I could never sit through that movie before, but I liked it a bit better this time.) Hence, without the movie background, the pre-show might not have been as interesting--but that's just my opinion only.

As for the river ride, I went on that another day (early in the morning) No wait, because all the crowds were at FOP in the queues. The river ride was pretty and visual throughout; but frankly, I think they needed some sort of storyline or references for those people who have never seen the movie. Felt this was a lost opportunity overall, and I can see how some people were a bit confused after the ride--like they had missed something? (I also heard this from a guy we know, who went a few weeks ago. He and his wife did not see the movie and were trying to figure out the Na'vi River ride, once they came off it.) However, in comparison, FOP you can go on without any background--it's just a BLAST.

I can also commiserate with you about the crowds in MK. Happy to hear that you got on the top of the Contemporary for maximum fireworks viewing.

EPCOT was crazy (but not mobbed) one of the days I went there. You see, both SSE and TT were out of service. Yup. That left MS, the Land, Nemo and Imagination. That was IT. Period. So there were lines for everything, far more than usual. (Without Wonders of Life and Universe of Energy, there is a real void in attractions, when the other few headliners go 101.) Frozen (with a fastpass) was cute, but that's all. Would not wait long for this attraction, but I'm not really a Frozen fan.

Just a general fyi about the online fastpasses. Never used these before, and the only reason I signed up this trip, was to see if I could get one for FOP (after reading about the hours of lines in queues for this attraction). At about the 30-day mark, I tried multiple times for a few weeks, to get one fastpass, but none were ever available.

So just a heads up to all of you, that if you want a fastpass (or multiples for this ride), good luck . . . (I think if you stay on Disney property, you get 60 days out to try and get these.)

Did use 2 others that actually came in handy, though. One was for Peter Pan and the other was for Kilimanjaro Safaris (on one of the days I got to AK very early -- timed it so I could go on KS within a reasonable amount of time after getting off FOP).

The others I picked, I never used--I miss the old paper fastpasses. They were much better for leveling the field on the bigger rides, and also for someone like me, much better for spontaneity.

@MinnieM123 , This will be my first time arranging for Fast Passes on the current system/ by the current method.
So our arrival date to check in at Pop Century is Nov. 6th.
60 days prior to that (according to your post just above here)I'm eligible to try and snag some good fast passes.
Flight of Passage would be nice. ;) Soarin' too! Each family member is allowed how many fast passes per day?
Teach me the method for securing my fast passes....please.
Thanks!
:)

PS
If my friend MinnieM123 is not online, I'm sure she wouldn't mind if any other forum friend addressed these questions on her behalf. :)

Did you know that you can modify them at any time? Sometimes when in the park you can get ones that weren’t available before. I’m constantly modifying and adding FPs.. but with FoP that’s probably near impossible.. we weren’t able to get one either. I think the best way for FoP is rope drop if a FP can’t be found.

You didn't ask me but I'm going to add my 2 cents. Be online at 6:59 and be ready to jump. Do FOP, RNJ, FEA and & 7DMT in that order. If you're a rope drop person do fps starting at 10 am except for FOP get whatever time you can get. If only one AK day get FOP and ROPE DROP RNJ and by rope drop I mean be at the park an hour before opening. Good luck!

@SteveBrickNJ I’m going to add one more tip to this.. schedule FPs back to back.. that way you’re free to add as many as you want afterwards.
Good Luck!

I am trying to do what I can now.. emails, signatures, laying out reasons as to why this will harm youth soccer..I do have friends in several areas of the country, and I’ve recruited them to do the same.. hopefully we can make an impact. All youth/SAY leagues in the entire USA are forced to make the change this year, not just my area. It’s a US Soccer rule. :(

Congrats on creating change for your children! That’s extremely admirable!!

I do hope that my sports fanaticism doesn’t look like I don’t care as much about academics, I’m a firm believer that a kid can be a straight A student and excel in sports., I think academics and sports can compliment each other... even though neither one is mandatory for the other. :)
