Black suit. They are allowed to do - black, dark blue, or dark gray. I wanted blue. He did not want blue. He only wanted black..my last choice.

I bought slim fit pants and jacket and vest, and a slim fit white shirt.. all in size 8 when he’s really a 10. The pants still needed to be hemmed, I want them above his shoes.
The pants also don’t fit him as slim as I want, but unfortunately the tailor could not get them finished by next weekend (tip: don’t procrastinate).
I don’t like the white with the black combined with his complexion..and also the white shirt is too short on his arms...but a 10 will be too baggy!!

I don’t know how people buy suits for tall skinny kids. To fit correctly the tailoring would cost more than the suit! And worse, by the time it was finished being tailored- they’d probably be grown out of it already.
Slim fit clothing is a PITA to find. That being said Old Navy and Walmart have slim fit pants with the adjustable pull elastic inside the waist band. Life saver until James got too tall:cautious::cautious::cautious::banghead:

Just left Wilder, Kentucky. Definitely first time here. lol.

Making the trek home and letting T rest for a bit before his next game. That one is only 45 minutes from home! Their team is 2-0 right now. :)

Isn't Wilder right on the border? I think we stayed at a Hampton Inn there when we went to a Jimmy Buffett concert at Riverbend in Cinncinatti. It was very conveniently located to where we needed to go.

It’s not too far from downtown Cincinnati at all. I live in Mason OH, which is north of Cincinnati, but still “Greater Cincinnati”... our next game today is in Harrison IN which is actually closer to me than the KY game.

T plays golf in Florence, KY occasionally, which is similar ETA to Wilder, but a little farther mileage wise. Florence, Covington and Newport are about the only places I try to visit in NKY.lol

Why is a lavender or pink boys dress shirt so difficult to find?!?!!!!

I can’t find one under $50+ This is crazy.

I’m not paying that much for the stupid one-time-use-only shirt.

I already bought the one-time-use-only stupid 3 piece suit, which is at the tailor’s now. T is so pale that the white and black contrast doesn’t look so good. I wanted him to get a navy suit.. but of course he wouldn’t agree with his mother.

I’m also having an issue with ties, there’s just not a great selection for this age. We ended up buying him one that he liked, but’s it’s also dark colors.

This is the one and only time I will probably ever say the following sentence-
I wish I could delegate this suiting project to a man!
Have you tried online stores? Or is it something you need like....tomorrow? I looked too late at Easter and didn't find ANY dress shirts for boys. None. Well, I guess I did find one, but they didn't have DS's size. And I went into every store that has kid's clothing. Apparently dress shirts aren't "in" right now for boys.

So you can feel my pain! Sorry you went through that. I ordered one from Macy’s online, the arms were too short. I ordered another one from Nordstrom, way too big.
I bought one in store at Kohls today, too short. I should bring the jacket with us to try on together

To fit his weight correctly he needs an 8, but to fit his length correctly then he needs In Between an 8 and 10. He’s exactly 54”. 8 ends at 53”.. 10 starts at 54 and goes to 57 on a lot of these brands.. fine for tee shirts, schools uniforms, etc.. but not for a properly fitting suit!
He’s a tall stick person. ;) Chest, waist, hip measurements are about a size 7. :hilarious:

Basically, if it was just the height issue then it would be an easy tailor job.. but with the bigger size also comes wider fits on him, which takes too long to fix and too much more than I was willing to spend. At this point I probably would have thrown in the towel and paid for the correct adjustments, but now it’s too late.

Back when I was in high school our decorations were some streamers, balloons and a wishing well (for some reason). It is a tradition in the school I teach at to decorate to the hilt with a theme. It is always impressive.

I'm amazed at the decorations. All I remember from mine was that it was at a VFW hall, and there were buffet tables on one side of the room with non-alcoholic punch, cake, etc. Best part was when we walked up the steps into the hall. I tripped on my long, chiffon gown, and somehow my foot went right through the front of it. So I had a big rip in the front of the gown, before the prom even started! :p :hilarious:

Oh no!!!!! I do think a ripped long chiffon gown still probably looked better than my obnoxious completely sequined dresses.lol

Here’s where our proms were.. it’s such a beautiful building. Junior prom was themed to Phantom of the Opera..absolutely gorgeous and perfect. Senior prom was themed to the song Come Sail Away. I actually like the song, but thought it was a stupid choice for a prom theme, especially at a performing arts and opera venue. Oh well. Wish we would have had @ajrwdwgirl ’s students back then!

Oh my, that's gorgeous.

P.S.:
LOL . . . obviously my school's proms were more on the budget plan . . . ;) Ours ended early, too--think they kicked us out around 11:00. (The school probably got a deal with the VFW Post, if we cleared out prior to midnight.)

I think ours ended around 11 too.. can’t remember for sure though. We all went to chaperoned after parties afterwards.ha ha. After senior prom we rented a ton of rooms at the homewood suites., a couple of parents got a room as well, but- we got in trouble for noise.

The boy’s high school proms that I went to were held at the Museum Center.. it was gorgeous, and they actually had a much better theme than us at senior prom. It was a “detective” theme.. pretty cool and clever how they pulled it all together.
