Just got back from my shift of Prom chaperone and ballot counter for king and queen.. it is fun to see all the kids dressed up so nice. The theme this year was a night in Paris.

Our school has a foreign exchange student from France and his parents shipped over dozens and dozens of macaron cookies so the kids here could have a real French touch at their dance. I may have enjoyed a few myself! The French student was named honorary Prom king and our exchange student from Japan was voted honorary Prom Queen and of course we had the ones voted on by the students.

Anyway here is a look at some of the decorations. I think they did a nice job.

That’s sounds like a successful prom! They really did do a wonderful job on the decorations. Looks very pretty.

We didn’t have prom queens or kings at the proms I attended when growing up. I’ve only seen it on movies.lol.

Update on suit drama..

I was scrolling thru FB and saw a lot of friends and former classmates who’s kids make 1st communion this weekend. 3 of them had photos of their kids in - nice khakis, Sperry boat shoes or loafers, nice button up printed shirts, bow tie, and dinner jacket. It looked really nice! I wish our school wasn’t such a stickler for the suit thing.. I’m sure they’d sell just as many photo and video packages to us, even if our kids aren’t in a 3 piece suit and dress shoes that they’ll never wear again

I'm sure you've looked everywhere for the shirt for T, but have you also tried some of the lower-end stores like Walmart, Target, and Kohls, in addition to other more name-brand men's stores in your area? I just found lavendar online at Kohls in boys' sizes. (The tie isn't all that exciting, but at least you could get the shirt.) Just a thought only.

I'm really looking forward to seeing the pictures of a dashing T and his smiling mama when this is all over!!

But then they wouldn't have forced you to spend money, needed for other things, to satisfy the whims of a couple of people that like three piece suits. And are probably stinking rich and to them that is parking meter change.

Thanks for this!!! It looks like the lavender is sold out in the size I need., but there is a pink! I’ll have to go to the store and see if it’s bright or pale pink, and maybe this one will fit!

Me too. ;). Honestly I’m just stressed because there really isn’t any time for us to go shopping together. We go to one store and run out of time. I need him with me, and he grows so fast that I didn’t want to buy it more than a couple of weeks in advance.
I’m sure it will all work out though.

No decorations at my proms other than the usual.

On my Facebook feed this morning there was a live stream of fundraiser event for Give Kids the World in which Bob Gurr was the speaker. So I decided to watch as I had my morning coffee. Since it was a fundraiser they had a rep from Give Kids the World speak about the organization and about a minute in I'm bawling like a baby. I knew the basics of what the organization did but never knew how it came to be or the background of the founder. It's an amazing story. And I love that this organization exists for kids and their families, however I wish it didn't (because of why the kids are there). Hopefully when I get to the Bob Gurr part it won't be as emotional!:)
