Happy belated to Dwifey.
Happy birthday!!
Remember back when I was second guessing myself about whether or not to stay at SOG for our trip or to wait for free dining to come out and switch to AoA because I know she loves the resort?
I'm totally over that, now...... AoA with free dining package is $2805 more than the package I built with SOG. What are the chances I could eat that much food??
Not. Even. Close.
Even my rotund darn rear couldn't' ever come close to eating that much food, these days. Now, back in my youthier years...!!!
Seriously though, that's redonkulous...!!!
It's so crazy...
The one and only time we ever stayed at AoA was in July of '12. We had a group of 13 for part of our trip (we may have cheated a bit ) and had two family suites in the newly opened (two weeks prior) Cars section. At the time, the full price was something like $180/night, but, I had a 60% CM discount, so it was way less than $100/night per room.
We absolutely loved the resort and the food court, but, it seems like it's priced somewhere between a mod and and deluxe now...how the frick did that happen (as though I really didn't know )
And, y'all have seen my posts before about my CM dining plan discount...always room discount and OOP from now on...!!!
It really is a cool resort!! I'm happy we stayed there last trip, but looking forward to SOG
The total for the package for the nights we were staying was $4755. But even the cheapest package from All Stars Sports was $3062 and that is still a difference of $1112. There's no way we'd even come close to eating that amount!! Especially considering this is for the Quick Service plan and we'd still have to upgrade that.
It doesn’t exist once you have children.
I let A pick out her own shoes. Show of hands, who's shocked at her choice right now??!!
Literally the most gaudy shoes in the entire store.... AND they light up!!

Louis is a reference to Lord Louis Mountbatten his great-great-great uncle and it is also one of William and George's middle names. Not digging the name. I would have preferred Arthur or James as the first name (I don't care about the rest of the name). Louis is a French name, and I don't understand why they picked that for a British member of the Royal Family.
I hand the question over to our other resident expert on Great Britain, @FutureCEO -- what do you think of the name?

My grandson's name.... sounds good to me! Not really a modern name though, but, I guess it's alright and as good as any.Not digging the name. I haven't ever tried. It's CRAZY busy. Wall to wall people trying to get a glimpse or get close enough to shake the King's hand. I was saying to my in-laws that I was really surprised they still do that. I mean, the king really doesn't RULE anymore....he's more a nostalgic figurehead than someone who has actual power. But still...he's a beloved person in the public eye and there's a certain...I don't even know what to call it, but just like in England, even though the Royal family isn't really in charge, they are still a respected entity and thus also inspire envy in some, which can put them in danger. Several years ago, someone drove into the crowd in Apeldoorn. (back when we still had a queen and it was Queen's day, on April 30th) That's where one of the palaces is, though my understanding is that the royal family no longer owns it...it's a museum now and not a working palace, so I don't think they have ever actually lived there in modern times, but I could be wrong. But some guy tried to crash into the bus where the Royal family was riding through. He ran through barracades and killed several people and ended up crashing into a monument I think? He died a few days later. I remember watching stuff on TV when they went through his house. He lived in the same town where my DH's family grew up and I think he might have been a neighbor to one of DH's uncles...I am thinking the uncle was able to see the police when they entered the guy's house, but none of our family knew the guy as far as I know. But that's just one of the reasons I'm surprised they still visit a town every year, and they still shake hands with the "common folk", etc. You could probably look up videos of celebrations to see what it's like....I have NO desire to try to enter that kind of a crowd. I remember last year, they sent a reporter out and there were people out there to get a good spot at like 5 am....HOURS before the parade started. It's kind of like waiting in the standby line for FOP without being assured you'll even get to ride. No thank you!!!
Fun fact though, my "choir" director got to perform for the queen a couple of weeks ago. Or he got to direct a project group with a school or something, and the kids were chosen to perform for Queen Maxima. We had an evening off from rehearsal because he was preparing or actually performing that night. So, really, T knows you, and you "know" me, and I know the choir director who has met the queen, who is married to the king....so technically not even 7 degrees of seperation.
Such is the price of having a monarchy. My problem with royals, much like Congress, everything gets handed to them at the expense of us, taxpayers. But I supposed it's different if the country actually likes them.
