Why, thank you! I will pass it along!Happy Birthday to Mr Songbird76
Out of curiousity, why fondant specifically?I don’t want to litter this thread with more of my personal birthday stress stuff., but if anyone bakes cakes/decorates/good with fondant— Please visit my “cake” thread!
Or just to show off cakes that you’ve made in the past .
I need ideas!
How cute!! I asked him if he wanted me to make a cake and he said not to worry about it. His parents and brother woouldn't eat it anyway if I made one...maybe I'll get DD to help me bake one this weekend.I both love and that that. Sympathies to you and to your dh View attachment 277292 From the entire Figgy clan
So basically he's incompetent? Is there someone else who can help her with the schedule since it doesn't seem to be his strong suit?Good Morning! And if you don't want to read the following rant, please feel free to skip ahead.
Today's project is to try and speak with DD's guidance counselor. You see, when she met with him for class registration for next year, he was more worried about peer pressure, depression, etc. then what classes she should be taking to meet her future goals. One of those future goals is to graduate High School. When the GC, meets with a freshman, who presents him with a schedule with a class she isn't sure about, I would think that would be a good time to have a short discussion, or suggest an office visit at a better time. At the very least, if you don't see the state mandated Health class she needs to graduate high school on her schedule, you ask when she plans to take it. Not these are fine, and a long lecture about how she can see him about anything, next!
She does plan on applying to very competitive colleges, and as a result, doesn't have the academic time during the regular school year. And, I don't want someone to finally figure out she is short this class right before graduation.
Did I mention this guy insists we call him Dr., and was apparently a Driver's Ed teacher before this gig?
Yep, my great grandparents, and my grandparents, and my parents (to a lesser degree), lived through the Great Depression.
I've always loved The Grapes of Wrath book, and the 1939 movie with Henry Fonda is pretty good, too.
And yea, with all the stories I heard from my grandparents years ago, it was definitely NOT a previous "roaring twenties" happy time.
I wish more people would go back and study that history...not to be made to feel guilty at all, but, just to gain some actual real life perspective on things these days compared to back then...it can be quite sobering, actually...
Now “To Kill a Mockingbird” is one of my favorites. I forgot I read that in high school. I agree, the movie is really good and it totally stuck to the story. No worries. If you haven't seen the movie version with Gary Sinise and John Malkovich, it is a great movie interpretation. Not as great as the book, but are they ever? (With the exception of To Kill A Mockingbird. That old movie is every bit as good as the book, in my opinion.)
Anyway, what I mostly want to say is, the book nerd in me loves that we are all debating (well, being behind, I am currently, you are all probably well past it) Steinbeck, and books. How awesome is that?
I've got words, can't use them here Sending pixie dust for both of you xoxoGood Morning! And if you don't want to read the following rant, please feel free to skip ahead.

Oh I love that book! That's one of my go-to books when I want comfort reading...not as much as Pride and Prejudice, but I do love it.The worst book i had to read at school for was "Emma" by Jane Austin

Can you put up a picture of it because using the title I saw it for over $600 and I know you didn’t pay that for it.Sorry, just seeing this now. Bought it on Amazon.
As I said it was a thought for the first couple of chapters with a plague and spare body partsHaha! They're not videans!
Yeah, the first few chapters I was like, "Um, what am I reading?" But you do have to read the rest because the twists and the other characters are just SO awesome. The first one is actually my least favorite of the series. You just have to get past the initial "wow, this is weird" factor.
My girls actually keep watching it. My younger 2 keep acting it out. Dh has this long exercise pole that he uses to twist. The little one takes it and acts out the last scene. She also borrows oldest dd fedora and acts like the ringmaster. Hysterical.I haven't seen it, but I am probably going to be buying it. I am sure DD and her friends will want to watch it on a loop.
