No cake??????????????????????Watching the Vegas race and having an indian and a beer.
Thank you! My niece would have to fly unaccompanied, unless my brother came with her, because the whole point would be so that we don't have to fly to Denver to pick her up. We want to go to Disney, but we've always also tacked on a week or two in Wyoming to see the family. Which means we have to fly from Orlando to Denver and back...it's expensive for the 4 of us to do that...we have the flights, we have the car rental in Denver for however long we're there, and if we can't find someone to stay with (my brother's isn't an option for the 4 of us) we have hotel costs. Now that my dad is gone, we'd rather not spend that kind of money, but my brother has never made the trip to see us...it's always us. So I feel like, this time, I'd like for THEM to be willing to foot that bill....they make more money than we do, and they have a lower cost of living than we do...there's no reason why they can't come to see US this time. And it's certainly cheaper for them to fly to Florida than it would be to fly to the Netherlands, so I'd really like them to all come. But, if they didn't want to, it MIGHT be an option for them to send my niece unaccompanied, so all they'd have to pay for would be her flight and we could pick her up, take her to Disney with us, and then put her back on a plane to her daddies. That way WE wouldn't have to spend an extra $3000-$4000 on flights, car rental, and hotels...it would just be the cost of her park tickets, which is cheaper than all 4 of us going to Wyoming for a week, and for them it would be just a flight....way cheaper than their entire family...but I just need to know if that's allowed. Just the offer might be enough to guilt them into coming...who knows? LOL@Gabe1 can correct me if I'm wrong, but i flew with my nephew and he wasn't considered unaccompanied because i was with him. I brought a notarized letter with me from his mom with permission to take him with me, but nobody ever asked to see it.
Thought you were baking one for me. Time on your hands and all that.No cake??????????????????????![]()

FTFY That info was given to me by somebody from JerseyI think its a celebration of how much better Joisey is than Guernsey.
Littlest dd had a birthday party to go to at a local arcade/climbing jungle thing/batting cage place. I hate it there. It is at least 30 years old and probably saw its better days 20 years ago. It needs a major renovation. There were 2 other parties going on so there were kids everywhere. Dd was walking with a cupcake to a table I was at and she got sideswiped by a boy who was a head taller and probably twice her weight. She didn’t see him coming. Her poor head hit the ground. Of course he didn’t say sorry. He ran off. I just carried her to the table. Another mom got her an ice pack and they replaced the cupcake. I knew she would survive though when 10 minutes later she asked if her friend was going to open her presents there or at her house.
I have never seen a kid in an American supermarket riding a bike, or a skateboard. I think it is one of those things that people know is not acceptable. We have the grocery carts with the little steering wheels and that seems to make them happy. Worked for my kids anyway. Surprised they would allow that there.Ok, so you know how we were all discussing whining earlier this week and I mentioned that Dutch parents weren't as helicoptory as American parents? I present to you exhibit A, also known as complete idiocy:

This little 3 or 4 year old was allowed to ride his bike through the grocery store today. The first time I saw him, he was with his dad...he almost ran me over, along with another couple..I jumped out of the way, he swerved to miss the couple, but swerved TOWARD me, so I had to jump back even further. His dad just chuckled and told him not to go too fast. When I took this picture, as you can see, dad was nowhere in sight. I mentioned it to the checkout girl as I didn't see any managerial staff today...there HAD to be someone, but I didn't see them. But I told the girl about it because he could have hit someone....it was lucky I'm mobile enough to get out of the way. Someone elderly or on crutches would not have been able to. But also, what if he had been swerving to miss someone and ran into the shelves and knocked a bunch of stuff off? What if he were in the chip aisle, which is across from the wine, and he knocked a bunch of wine bottles down onto himself and ended up in a puddle of wine with glass embedded in his body? It's an incredibly bad idea to be riding a bike in a grocery store! But the father apparently saw nothing wrong with it. I see this happen a lot....not usually with bikes, but I do see kids allowed to ride on roller skates in the store, or who are pushing one of the mini carts they have, but they keep running into people with them. My rule with those mini carts was, if you can't push it nicely, it goes away....no running, and if you hit someone, it's end game. I certainly wouldn't have allowed my kid to ride their bikes, or a skateboard, or any of the multitudes of other things I've seen. But in the states, the store employees would have let the bike in the door. Here, no one says a thing.
Can’t believe it has been a whole year since his last party. Turning 8, wow time goes by. We have done a gymnastics party and everyone liked that. Well organized, but since T doesn’t do gymnastics it would not work for him. We have also just done parties at home. We went to a swim party at the Y in the fall. You could just postpone a party until summer and do that. You could offer him a trip to Disney instead?Oh no!! Poor girl. I’m glad she was ok! That situation is one of the reasons I try to choose venues that allow you to rent the whole place (for a relatively reasonable price).
You are making me second guess one of our choices this year, it’s similar to what you described, kind of. Old, no batting cages, but you can rent out a whole sports room. Basketball, baseball, soccer, lacrosse equipment.
I’m stumped this year. It will be our 6th “friends party” at some kind of indoor venue (can’t trust the weather in Spring to plan an outdoor party). The 2 he wants the most are more than I’m willing to spend. I explained that, and he’s fine with it.. but I’m running out of options. I don’t want to do Dave & Busters, I don’t feel it’s interactive enough..and I don’t want to do laser tag, because we’ve been to 4 laser tag parties this year.
So far we’ve had his parties at the following- Trampoline Park. An Indoor Playground/Climbing/Rock Climbing place..Inflatable Park...and another Indoor Playground/Infaltable combo place. Also an indoor glow mini golf and mini bowling..almost forgot about that one.
Have you been to any other parties this year that your kids enjoyed? I need suggestions!!
I usually book by mid February, running behind this year.
Ha ha, Disney is not the equation this year. I’d love to take him back to GWL, but with our sports schedule and First Communion weekend it’s just impossible time wise. Can’t believe it has been a whole year since his last party. *waves Hi back*
You’re up early! How was the dragon roll appetizer you had with your wine? It looked good!!

I have actually been thinking...how does it work with a child who is not yours? Like...say my brother said no way his family is spending the money on Disney, could he send his daughter if I invited her to go with us? The deal we usually get includes free dining, and you don't usually have to pay extra for a kid in the resort rooms right? So it would just be a matter of the tickets, and we could give that to her for Christmas, if my brother would be willing to spring for a flight to Florida and back...but he'd either have to come with her and stay somewhere else, OR he'd have to send her unaccompanied, and then we'd need to get her back to him and I'm not sure how that works since she's not my kid. Is that allowed?

Happy to hear you are doing well. Looks like Monday's commute will be better. Should be light around here as it is a State Holiday.Still windy but dying down. Lights blinked a few times but never lost power, though yesterday there was electric trunks in my neighborhood. A batting cage in a baseball stadium down my street... half collapsed and many many branches and trees down. Massachusetts got hit worse though.
