Age doesn't equal wisdom especially when it comes to money. I know plenty of people of all ages who are dumb with
Oh, yes. One of my dad's friends recently asked why I don't eat out more. He eats out several times a week. He also doesn't have a lot of money and moved back in with his mother in his fifties. I told him I'll eat out with friends and of course on vacation, but that it's much less expensive to eat at home, and that I'm saving money to move out. He argued and argued with me until I finally walked away before saying something I'd regret.

I joined here when I was 17, and as long as the word "teen" was in my age, people disregarded my opinion. Once the 95 was no longer in my username, my age was less obvious. It keeps getting better the older I get. At 22, most people think of me as an adult, and for those who don't, I can either ignore them or nicely tell them where to put it.

My husband is a man of few words. He's been walking around for days with a loose back tooth in his mouth. That's news to me. Not a word. First I heard of it he wagon the phone this morning making a dental appointment. Luckily he got in today and they pulled the tooth. The man is 71 years old. I doubt he will miss one back tooth in the grand scheme of things. Doctor/dentist is a prince. He charged my husband $87 to pull the tooth. My husband had scrambled eggs for lunch.

Sympathy like. He probably won’t miss a wiggly tooth.

I have posted on Disney message boards for about a dozen years now, and known many very bright teens. In fact some of them make more sense than the adults.

As far as eating out a lot. My husband does that. It's not like he doesn't like my cooking, it's that we have very different tastes in food. The man doesn't eat chicken, pork, or fish. I tease him about how he eats all the sugar and I get fat. His idea of breakfast is a muffin, or a sweet roll. I like eggs, oatmeal, french toast, pancakes, and waffles, and many other things. Of course not all at the same time. When we eat breakfast out, he eats omelets, and mexican breakfast items. Or corned beef hash, which is way too salty. I can probably count on two hands the things I cook that he will eat. Black Bean Soup, Chili, Lasagna, Spaghetti, Stuffed Green Peppers, Mastaciolli, Turkey Dinner, Meat Loaf, Sloppy Joes, Enchiladas. Notice the pattern. Of course he eats other things that I don't cook, or like. Hence, we eat out a lot. When I think of the money he spends, not to mention the tips. The man is a big tipper. Now that he works from home, his biggest expense is probably food. Meals out, and trips to Mariano's/Jewel/Target for groceries. I make him use his money rather than mine. My food budget used to work just fine, but not since the man is home all the time.

I rarely eat out or even get take aways, just when I am on holidays or a special occasion. All my meals are home made, it saves a lot of money and calories.
I also love going to Starbucks but rarely do because of the cost.

@RedNoseMickey I clicked on your user name under the photo of Mickey w/ a red nose....'cause I noticed your phrase : "just when I am ON HOLIDAYS ..." Sure enough you are British. Very cool!
I'll never forget the 1st time I was a tourist across the pond in Ireland. A friendly Irishman asked me: "How long is your HOLIDAY?" I was confused but assured him I was not celebrating any "holiday"....I was on vacation! :angelic:

Used the dining plan this past October and came out quite well in front on what cash would have cost.

I'm thinking that part of the reason is due to the variances in overall vacation costs, when you come from overseas. I've heard of some good deals that are only available to our overseas pals. (Although I can't imagine the DDP being worth it, if you're just eating ferret food all the time.) ;)
