In other news, I do not like the new website quotes. Why? because it could be used as proof when someone wrote something and tried to backdown later on.

While for normal conversation there is no problem (ie, just a simple typo) For conversations like politics, rants, etc.. It could be very troublesome as someone could easily "I never said it", "you did it!" "prove it" "I have it in quote somewhere" "hah no you dont!"(and thus the quotes are no longer the original text).
There is a reason the quotes do not change to prevent baiting. (person A is very rude and insults everyone, Person B defends profoundly and calls A, Person A changes the writing text but with a very specific changes. Person B now looks like a deranged prissy.. People will now bash person B for "overreacting").
Which means on heated conversations.. you will have to rely on screenshots....
