I know what you are going through. I really am getting cabin fever and want to go somewhere. Trouble is no one I know can go anywhere right now, even my husband doesn't have the time off. So I'm trying to decide if I want to take a solo WDW trip or not. I haven't ever done one but it might be fun, just wondering if it is worth the $$$.

I've done many solo trips and always had a blast!! I stay on property, but at the Swan or Dolphin (not Disney owned hotels) due to the more reasonable prices (as long as it's not in high season or a big convention time, etc.). The only thing you can't get with S/D is Magic Express bus from the airport, so I just take a taxi each way. But other than that, I never need, never rent a car, and the boat transportation is right there at S/D to DHS and Epcot. There are buses to all the other parks, etc. People are nice, and I often have discussion with CMs, or other guests waiting in lines. Believe me, you won't be lonely! :)

Well she did get home finally late last night. The group left Monday so getting home Thursday night, yikes.
The hotel on Monday found her a known, safe driver to take her hours away to a consulate on Tuesday since they observed the US Holiday Monday. They had dinner together Monday night to make sure she was comfortable with him and he spoke English. The hotel set them up with a reputable hotel in the next city. She went to the consulate and the doors were locked and they wouldn't let her in without an appointment. :cautious: blah blah blah fight fight fight through a speaker phone and someone came down to let her in. Passport not 'till Wednesday and sure enough out of that city no international US flights on Wednesday so she had to wait until Thursday. So she had to pay for the dude Monday night through Thursday and all of his expenses plus hers and a flight not booked in advance, in addition missed 3 days of work. She did get lots of extra time at the pool and spent lots of time at the spa.

Yikes. What an ordeal. She was very lucky that the hotels had reputable people, and they helped her out quite a bit. I can't imagine the extra expense all this cost her. So sorry to hear this entire bad situation happened to her, but at least she's home safe now. (It's stories like these that scare off a number of people from international travel.)

Nobody needs a vacation. We just wanted one.
So sick of the snow, the cold, the kids, the brother ....

Everybody needs a vacation each year! ;) It's an important part of life to take time out to enjoy and relax.

It's a priority to me over the years. My mother drummed that into my head. She always told me that no matter how many bills they had to pay, (she always paid the bills), she would also have a vacation envelope and put away money in that every month. She said it was, in a sense, another "bill" that she'd pay (to herself). That way, the family could always go on vacation, and that didn't always mean any place expensive, or for more than a few days. But God bless my mother; every year we had a vacation. :)

@Wrangler-Rick , this news story happened yesterday. Due to all the snow we've had, there have been multiple roof collapses all over MA, and this one was a barn that housed horses. Rescuers saved most of these lovely animals, but could not get to a few of them in time, which was sad. I noticed toward the end of the video that they would put a blanket to cover the eyes of the horses when they were pulling them out of wreckage; I think that might have been to lessen the fear of the startled horses.

Ha! I was just thinking yesterday that we have not heard from our @brifraz in a long while. Where Art Thou? :inlove:

I'm here! The new gig is CRAZY busier than the old one. And I get paid significantly less. And I'm far happier. But, it means that I don't spend much time on the boards. Also, we are planning a non-Disney vacation for this Spring Break and that takes a lot of time - actually doing NEW things!

Wish learning made fun was the norm. My kids went through 2 great school districts and came out the backside well educated, fun was a rarity. Torture was frequent.

That was one of my problems with the last few years at my old gig. The frustration (no, @StarWarsGirl95, not always with Mr. M - I actually like him and his style with students which is awesome, but he treats teachers as numbers and he is convinced that he knows better than anyone what everyone wants and needs) that I had in the last job pretty much killed my ability to make it fun. That is starting to come back - slowly, but surely.

And, hey, check it out...I'm here two days in a row!!

just fyi @StarWarsGirl95 , I think you're giving way too much information of your family.

You've talked names, extended family, issues..etc..
Someone who might be a stalker might get enough information to do bad things.
I recommend you censor more.
Thanks for the concern, but that is why I don't post pics of myself on here or of family members or tell you all the specific name of the town I'm from (just general like Baltimore County) or where I go to school other than a very select few through a PM. Someone who knows me personally could probably figure it out. But not most.

Do you plan to work on disney or something?
I plan on applying for the CP for the spring of 2016. And then keep applying after that until I get in. After that, we'll see, but I'm thinking of doing a professional internship after that.

Only problem is that if it went beyond just the CP, I probably would have to stop doing these boards. :(

I think that happens a lot in school where the teachers/staff interact better with the students than they do with each other. The principal at my elementary school was always great with me and my brother, but my mom complained about the same thing just from substituting that you did. Regardless, Mr. M was a far better principal than who replaced him at my old school.

She hedged three or four times, but finally responded properly on Tuesday.
Probably was waiting until she could truthfully say that she was back to feeling lke herself - the infection is gone, her breathing is better, and the doctor there is weaning her off the steroids.
She admitted that her health had really scared her, but now she is feeling much better. She agreed that should any significant relapse occur, she will come home immediately.
And that's about the most you are going to get out of that stubborn 70 year old woman; doing God's work in a Third-World country, on a wing and a prayer.
I'm glad to hear she's doing better.

To get away from Florida, seek new opportunities, travel, travel, travel, start something new...

I'm going for my dual citizenship and then returning to the USA after the first six months. I'm going to to spend five of the six months learning how to speak Hebrew five days a week/five hours a day. Travel on the weekends.

It's only $49 to fly to Millan from Tel Aviv, so that's how I plan on seeing Europe. I'll definaely go to Rome, Geneva, Paris (read: Disneyland Paris), London, Amsterdam, and maybe Spain.

I'm taking my cat. Hopefully, I'll be able to find a cat sitter when I'm away in Europe.
Hmm! Could have sworn that I was having a Deja Vu moment there, but, couldn't be because that was all about the Peace Corps. Oh, well... have fun.

So glad that you are enjoying your new job. My friend who had you has told me bits and pieces about the music program at your old school. We are both glad that you were able to find another job that makes you happier. As is everyone here I'm sure. :)

Keep us updated about your spring break trip!

Me neither. :hilarious:

Jennifer - real name.
S - maiden name initial
Brantford - population almost 100K
Work - for one of hundreds of new home builders in the GTA (population > 4 million)

If anyone from my "real life" found me here, they'd have me pegged in 3 seconds or less. No worries.
Not too many people stalking 47 year old married mothers.

Aaaaahhh, life is good.
Snowing like gangbusters here; I may or may not still be in my jammies; and Grease is on t.v. - the only movie I have seen as many times as Titanic.
Snowing here too. Hard snow. I can't even see down my street. Homework time! And reading. I've started reading for fun again. Don't know why I ever gave it up.

Actually, yes I do. I needed reading glasses and didn't realize it, so I stopped because reading gave me headaches. But I'm slowly picking it up again

Yup, it wouldn't take too long for anyone to figure me out either.

Those two pieces of information alone would be enough for someone IRL on a Disney board to figure out if they knew me, but unless you know me IRL, it would not be simple.
Baltimore County, population 823,000
College kid: there are a lot of colleges in Baltimore county. You could probably figure out which one based on some information I've given, but even so, I'm one of several thousand students at my college.

I think it depends on the person and what they're comfortable with. I am comfortable revealing first names, but no pictures. Some are comfortable revealing more, some less. All depends. :)

I have a bully or two from N & R on ignore.
Pretty close to adding two know-it-all N & R newbies to that short list also.
The ignore feature is wonderful for N&R bullies.

I've currently got 4 people on ignore. They are pretty much permanent members of that list. Sometimes I'll put people on temporarily, which can be anywhere from weeks to months. Typically, these are members who have been jerks to me, so I put them on ignore so that I stop getting notifications and so that I don't get sucked into an argument where I will inevitably say something and make myself look bad. But for some who have been jerks, I put them there temporarily and then take them off. I give them the benefit of the doubt. They may have been new, having a bad day, etc.

But I don't have the maturity to just ignore these people on my own. The ignore feature is wonderful for that reason.

Agreed. That being said, I feel more connected to members whose faces I've seen, and who either use, or are willing to reveal their first name. It just makes them seem more "real".

The N & R newbie (rhymes with Ping Pong) seems to have a hate-on for my best bud @Goofyernmost, and just made it on to my Ignore-list minutes ago.
Thanks to @Andrew C for telling him off. I had formulated three different responses, but didn't post any of them. Life is too short to argue with 23 year old twits.
