I do believe I have let myself be talked out of Cuba ... by someone who owes me $5K; so I don't think her motives are entirely pure.

Yeah, yeah, I already admitted that it would be dumb to go away right now, when neither of us has worked in 6+ months .... But jeepers, it's hard to be lectured to by someone who owes me money.

I did too. I had a science teacher in 7th grade who showed Bill Nye on a regular basis. He also would get extremely off topic. And of course no one ever tried to get him back on topic. And since I was in the gifted class and that was his only gifted class, it really didn't matter that he would get off topic. Learned so much from him, though.

9th grade science teacher was also awesome. He was a former genetics counselor and just really interesting to listen to. He's now a vice principal at the school where @brifraz used to teach. Science teacher was far too good a teacher to become an administrator.

Ha! I was just thinking yesterday that we have not heard from our @brifraz in a long while. Where Art Thou? :inlove:

Can't like that post. :(

Follow your own heart woman! Go if you want. Don't go if you think it is best. Your gut is trustworthy.

We didn't think we would be off this long, so I locked up my RRSP's real tight! Not a lot of liquid $$ right now.
Of our three credit cards, two are empty, but one now carries a balance.

There is soooooo much money coming in this year (some from houses already sold, just waiting to close) and some from the two new sites opening this spring.

I just need to be patient. Maybe I'll send Auntie a bit of money instead.

Yep, right as I was reading a great teacher became a vice principal, that was my first thought, too...what a waste.
But, money talks.

As you well know I am a strong Union Supporter of teachers which is an oddity for a school board member. Sadly that is one of the downfalls, administration pays better than teaching positions and the extraordinarily great teachers that are fewer in number can't be rewarded for their over the top teaching styles. There is that negative side to all positives unfortunately.

How is Auntie doing? I can't remembering hearing how she responded to her DD email.

I'm actually the only one in my house that doesn't mind mornings. :)
It's just that whole cold thing I don't get. I understand it to a point, living in a house full of "lizard people" ;), as I do. But, all cold weather and snow, all the time, I just don't get, at all... ;) :)

I can't argue with that. I'm hating it more and more daily.

Sorry about that. That bites but maybe it's for the better?

Did you show them the one with Imagineer Asa? Our library has the entire set so we've seen them all. Asa is so funny it makes learning fun.

Wish learning made fun was the norm. My kids went through 2 great school districts and came out the backside well educated, fun was a rarity. Torture was frequent.

Cousin's daughter. Since I am Aunt Missy to them, they are my nieces and nephews. Her middle name is Josephine.

It's apparently a thing in this family. My father, my nephew, her...all of them go by shortened versions of their middle name.

Plus, we have too many K's in this family, so it's less confusing. My cousin-in-law, my nieces' mother, my step cousin, both of my nieces, and my nephew all have names that begin with K.

Been discussing the cold delays and closings with many colleagues and also responding to people on FB. In the county where I spent the last 20 years, while they may have said they closed or opened late because of starting busses, getting heat on in schools, or so kids weren't at the bus stop before dawn in the cold, but the truth is this...in that district (and many, I fear) the administrators are so colossally afraid of lawsuits that they have an actual office of people who sit and think of things that they could get sued for. Sadly, our litigious society has many people who will gladly sue a school system because their child got sick the day after standing at the bus stop in very cold temperatures. Thus, late openings. Funny thing is, most of the people who complain about the schools closing for small amounts of snow or cold (the "in my day" people who will gladly tell you they went to school in far colder temperatures than this morning even though this morning was the coldest in this area in 20 years) are the exact same people who will complain and possibly sue when their precious little angel caught cold the day after....OK, you get the idea.

BTW, that's the "Office of Risk Management" who also came up with rules whereby no school group in that district can go to an amusement park for any reason (education or not).

And, hey! Long time, no see! Glad to be here for a quick visit tonight!!

Ha! There you are missing in the mist friend.

My board covers our tushies on days like this. We have a legal disclaimer for inclement weather. Paraphrased but basically we respect the judgement of parents and if their judgement says they believe it is safest for their child to stay home due to weather risks they are encouraged to make that decision on behalf of their child and the student will not be penalized in any way and can seek out additional help from staff to keep them current in any area. There are ways to keep kids in school and ward off the those who want to go after us. Still most of our decisions are driven by the bus contractors. If they tell us they can't keep close to schedule we cancel.
