HAH seriously? they think the mousekeeping is only 40$?

Man, they really are being desperate to keep cutting down services!

There is so much you can cut until you're barebones and cant cut anything and things fall apart.

Kinda my thought. A far cry from the White Glove approach of yesteryear.
Even the summer months are not a 'high season' any longer. Sure more crowded than others but not what it once was.

I stay at the Loew's hotels when at Uni, always at the Portifino, usually with a deal that price wise their Luxury is equivalent to the Moderate I usually stay at Disney. They get it. It has been 1.5 decades that I've split my stays now most trips. Cuts are not what impresses me on vacations. Disney's values are expensive beyond that it is nutso. They need to acknowledge that with above and beyond services.

Yep, I can't think of a theater around here that isn't doing that. :)

Just curious about this. I know that the theaters around here have "reserved" seating. I haven't been to any of those theaters in years. My question is this: so, let's say you reserve a seat in a specific location. What if you have noisy people around you, and you want to move? (In the past, I've moved to a different seat in a theater, if there was a noisy crowd.) But if you have to stay in a "reserved" seat--you could get stuck there, right? o_O

I had the computer module go out on my Explorer. It was no longer available through the dealer. I was lucky to find one on Ebay and had the dealer install and program it. I lucked out with only $300 for all of it. I hope you luck out too!

Glad to hear this worked for you. That's great. In our case, it could be a few different things going on--that's really the main problem here.

Hubs had looked into (various) refurbished components from automotive vendors, but the Chevy dealer would still have to "flash" the system. Now, that's not such a big deal, if that's all we had to do to fix the car. However, he wasn't positive it was "just" a computer module issue. So he didn't want to chance that, and decided to just take it to the dealer's repair shop, and have them run further diagnostics, beyond all the ones he initially did.

My first thought, first blush is now you get a $40 gift card. Next up they'll charge you for clean towels and cleaning like a DVC. Not a fan of all that. My guess is they will regret. Beyond the labor savings....you have bug issues in Florida. Leaving stuff lay around for a week...not good. Then the turn the room issue on check out to check in day. A room that hasn't been cleaned in a week or two...it is going to be a rougher clean. How they will do little things like soap, kleenex, tp I wonder.

I recall a few years ago that Swan offered only something like a $5 food coupon for each day that you declined housekeeping. I actually tried it for a few days, and decided I didn't like it. There was something just odd about a full trash basket, used towels left on the side of the tub, unmade bed each day, etc. Just wasn't worth it to me. I also felt guilty about taking work away from housekeepers, so it was a one and done for me.

As for replenishing toiletries, towels, coffee pods, etc., you'd call the housekeeping extension on the guestroom phone, and they'd bring up supplies. If you weren't there when they'd come by, they'd put the supplies in a plastic bag and hang it on your doorknob.

I got an app from my MIL today that they found the infection...he has a bladder infection that's not responding to the tablet form antibiotics, so he MAY have to go back on an IV for antibiotics. They're not sure yet. I bet he is going stir crazy in the hospital though....he's such a "do" person...he's always doing something...working in his garden, or in the aviary with his birds, etc. He's not someone who wants to go lie on a beach somewhere for vacation so my MIL will go with her sisters-in-law. He just always needs to be busy. It must be torture.

DD came home today with a disturbing story. I know there are some prejudiced families in our area, which is difficult since we live in a relatively low-income area and there are a LOT of foreigners here. But I guess one of the Turkish kids in the class made a mistake in an assignment or test and a kid said "That's so typical of Turks." The teacher promptly moved his desk against the wall so he couldn't have contact with the rest of the class, but it's sad that it even happened. Next year, the kids go to a new building and the school is merging with another that is largely Turkish. That kid is going to have some problems.

That would work for us if it was only my dh and I and only every other night.

I've been taking my two year old to the movies in the past couple months because our theater is running a family movie program over the summer. I cannot get the hang of choosing the right seat on the little screen when I but my tickets. Thankfully a lot of people skip family movies at ten in the morning on a weekend, so we are able to move around once we get into the theater. But if they movie was more crowded and full you absolutely would be stuck in that seat.

Oh my goodness. Hours of this has finally ended. How did your area survive @MouseDreaming ??? I went out after it finally stopped around midnight.
The River has spilled over. We had some lightening/thunder simultaneously. Never good. Morning shall tell how this storm panned out. Nasty.
Sympathy like. I hope that's all the crazy weather for this year for both you and @MouseDreaming. Stay safe my friends

Amen to that!!! I was telling DH last night and he said "Oh, I like his parents already." with a huge eye roll. I was like "I know, right?" and the kid in the locker rooms a couple of years ago, I brought that up and he said "Well, I already knew how much I liked THEM." (this was the kid who told DS in first grade that he was going to kill him and his whole family. Death threats in first grade. And when I talked to the mother about it, she laughed it off...oh, he probably got it from a video game! I'm sure he didn't mean it. No, he probably didn't as he was only 6, but I'd be worried if my 6 year old was telling people he was going to murder them! That's not normal 6 year old behavior!)

Yes, I did put in for Monday off, so thank God I have 4 days off to look forward to. No plans at this point. Hope you have a nice holiday weekend coming up for you and family.

THNX my dh has a 4 day weekend and it's all paid without using a vacation day.:) No big plans just a BBQ and shopping, mostly food:greedy::greedy::greedy::eek::arghh::bawling::brb::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

My husband's birthday is on Saturday so I let my 2 year old plan what we'd do for his birthday. I've been asking her "what should we do for papa's birthday?" for the past month and a half. So far we will be:

- having minnie mouse pancakes for breakfast
- seeing the birthday elephants at the zoo and feeding the giraffes (although the forecast calls for thunderstorms so we might have to make a plan B)
- making him blue cake with white ice cream
- go to the toy store and let him pick out any toy he wants
