Glad to hear this worked for you. That's great. In our case, it could be a few different things going on--that's really the main problem here.

Hubs had looked into (various) refurbished components from automotive vendors, but the Chevy dealer would still have to "flash" the system. Now, that's not such a big deal, if that's all we had to do to fix the car. However, he wasn't positive it was "just" a computer module issue. So he didn't want to chance that, and decided to just take it to the dealer's repair shop, and have them run further diagnostics, beyond all the ones he initially did.
The problem I ran into was that the module initially wouldn't let me use 4 wheel drive. However the module also reads the ignition key chip to allow the car to start, so if I replaced the module myself I would have ended up having it towed to the dealer to have them flash it, because I wouldn't have been able to start it. They really put the do-it-yourselfers over a barrel!!! :(

Art of Animation in a Little Mermaid room! I wanted to get us a Lion King suite, but since neither of us are huge Disney fans, and neither of us has been before, we just couldn't justify the price.
Since many times in the last 34 years I have been thought of as a huge Disney fan, I still cannot justify the price. I've stayed onsite once in all those years. A special buy 4 get 7 offer so I thought I'd try it. Was not impressed, saw no real overwhelming benefit and have never done it again. I have my system of offsite pretty well established and it works for me. I do realize that staying onsite is very special for many. I don't put them down, just personally don't agree. All I can ever think of is the number of things I can do and have with the money I saved.

Yeah it's a weird balancing act. You want to get your money's worth out of your park tickets so you need to spend maximum time in the parks, but then you want to get your money's worth out of your resort price so you want to spend maximum time in the resort pool. And I can't tell you how many blog posts I've read about maximizing the food plan, LOL.

Reading through this forum for the past six months though, we've come to the conclusion that you really aren't going to "get your money's worth" in terms of the resort or the park itself. You're paying for the experience, and the only way to get your money's worth is by focusing on that, instead of maximizing your time. At least that's how it interprets for me for going with a toddler. This mentality has really helped me relax about the trip. It's no longer about getting as much park time or pool time or food credit usage as possible. Now I'm focused on being flexible, following the lead of my toddler, and just making the best experience I can for her.

Over all, whether on or off site, that is the way to be, in my opinion. Time in the parks to me is absolutely no different on or off, meals are more flexible, and freedom to come an go always seemed simpler to me, but, like I said that is just me. I do things now out of necessity, like FP, and the occasional sit down reservation, but, mostly use counter service when I don't want to leave and outside establishments when I want or need a break from the parks. The later is at least once a day. After four days at WDW I am ready to go to a hardware store and see if I can find a huge mouse trap. Yes, I get sick of the Mouse. Blasphemy, perhaps... but, it might be that I have a limited attention span. :D

Oh my goodness. Hours of this has finally ended. How did your area survive @MouseDreaming ??? I went out after it finally stopped around midnight.
The River has spilled over. We had some lightening/thunder simultaneously. Never good. Morning shall tell how this storm panned out. Nasty.
I was cleaning by the stairs again last night. Had a hard time getting to sleep, because on the radar it looked like more was on its way. But I think I slept through, or it missed. No flooded street, and just a pond not worth mentioning across the street. Accuweather tells me more is on the way for later today. Hope that all magically drifts elsewhere, or breaks up.

We scheduled such a short trip because I'm positive even if we love it we will be the same way. Unless we're backpacking somewhere fun or sitting on the beach in the sun, we usually burn out on vacation around the 5 day mark.

I recall a few years ago that Swan offered only something like a $5 food coupon for each day that you declined housekeeping. I actually tried it for a few days, and decided I didn't like it. There was something just odd about a full trash basket, used towels left on the side of the tub, unmade bed each day, etc. Just wasn't worth it to me. I also felt guilty about taking work away from housekeepers, so it was a one and done for me.

As for replenishing toiletries, towels, coffee pods, etc., you'd call the housekeeping extension on the guestroom phone, and they'd bring up supplies. If you weren't there when they'd come by, they'd put the supplies in a plastic bag and hang it on your doorknob.
Yup, there were a few days on our last trip we didn't get back to our resort room to take the do not disturb off door (we just left for park) and came back to a Mickey bag on our door handle full of fresh towels, washcloths, soap, shampoo, cups and a roll of toilet paper.

Funnily, I found that renting points on discount days its way cheaper than actually getting something like 2 rooms or a suite at the "Value" resorts.

Plus you usually have the option to get AKL, Saratoga or Key West at almost the same price always.

This is something that a lot of companies have been doing on purpose.

Take Apple for example, their devices are harder and harder to open. To force you to use their reparation services (with the special and exclusive tools they use) and charge you more.

Blah. Disappointing that Siemens Corp is ending its sponsorship with Epcot. Bet their employees at the convention were stunned to hear that too. They had some nice family perks at WDW.

Don't blame them in the least but I know what happens to attractions when they loose the sponsor. Oy.

Dear god, I hope this does not means they quit because Disney pushed for a Magic Kingdom v2 project (aka gutting space ship one, removing illuminations for a "more cost saving show") between other things..

Are you in Illinois? I saw somewhere that there was a Tornado warning in DeKalb county. (my mom's family is next door in Kane County). I hope you and @Gabe1 are safe!

Lightweights :p It's 14 or nothing for us ...
Ha! To be fair, we do get MUCH better deals and when you have 2 weeks to explore, you have a bit more time to smell the roses and take a day here and there to do a water park, or go to DS, or to hang out at the resort. Last summer was the first time we had ever stayed on property and I am HOOKED. I don't ever want to stay off property again....I loved being in the magic and not having to worry about transportation, etc. Where are you staying for your trip?
