Interesting.
I was still working at the Disney Store until my last day on Oct. 17, 2013. I remember the home office communication about properly trimmed mustaches being OK, but, as far as I remember, full beards were still not allowed.
Maybe P&R loosened that up before DCP...?

Disney evolved with the times. I remember back then thinking finally learning to pick your battles. I have expectations for CMs and most go above and beyond.
Whether they preform those duties with facial hair, sunglasses or an ear ring I really could care less. Maybe cause I was born in the era where gals had to wear dresses (think cold and snow.) I had to wear pump heels when I worked at Ohare. Sometimes IMO only I believe we can let loose of some rules in life that have no bearing on an excellent performance. Thinking of all those CMs do for very little earnings Disney likely thought it was OK with most to let this one just go. No harm, no foul.

Yeah, my hearing turned out just fine. My last ear infection as a kid was probably in 1st grade. They wanted to do tubes in my ears but my Mom said no, she wasn't convinced it would help at all. And really once I was in the lower elementary grades, the ear infections just stopped. I did have an ear infection as an adult, but that was about 12 years ago. The kids sometimes put those ultra sonic ring tones on their phones at school because they think their old geezer teachers can't hear them go off, but I am still able to hear the tone. The kids are amazed I can hear it.

Our oldest had a lot of ear infections when she was young, up until she was about 3. The doc suggested the tubes. We researched it and said no, not yet. Ultimately, she never had to have them, and she has perfect hearing.
The 2 youngest never had any ear problems at all. :)

Woof...calm down there. :cyclops:
I don't have a problem with it either, and never stated I did. I just stated what the last policy I remember was when I was still a DCP CM.
take deep breaths... ;)

I obviously misunderstood your comment about the young'n CM

But, when did they start allowing beards...especially that dudes scruffy looking thing...?

I know you are asking me to calm down, I believe my post was calm, polite and not rude. Can you appreciate when you posted 'especially that dudes scruffy looking thing?' that I took that as an issue/problem you were having with that particular young mans appearance? The original post came across to me anyhow that you indeed had a problem with that particular photo Bets posted and called that photo out as the dude beard being a scruffy thing. (Me I differ I thought it was neatly trimmed) If I somehow misinterpreted that I apologize. I just don't know how I did misinterpreted that post, As far as me needing to take deep breathes...yikes, you have to see how I got there from words you chose to describe the young dudes facial hair.

We obviously have a difference of opinion of what makes a young person scruffy. I'm OK with that but I came from a generation of long haired freaky people need not apply generation so I am pretty darn tolerant. My boomer generation appearances prepared me for far more than that photo.

Yes it is the same in-laws but a different house. The one with the horrid bed situation is where we go at Christmas. This time we are at hubs sister's house in Michigan. Since the graduation party is today and the actual graduation is tomorrow, and they live 10-11 hours from us there is not the luxury of going home and hubs didn't want to pay for a hotel. Luckily we have a regular bed here and have a bedroom, so there is privacy. Next time we go for Christmas to the one in Chicago we will stay in a hotel, or I'm not going.
Good for you....but I wouldn't let her put me on toilet duty, either....um....I'm a guest in your home and you want me to do the worst, most menial chore for you? I think not. I'll help set up and I'll take some pictures, but cleaning your house is where I draw the line.

Well I took this quiz....
Can We Guess Where You Grew Up Based On Your Taste In Snacks?

here it is if you want to try too, took about 5 minutes

My Results were I grew up in California. Hmpf. I visited Disneyland a lot back then, does that count?

My snack sense says you grew up in California!

Yea, don't get me started on keeping people who excel down in the name of salvaging the self esteem, or whatever, of those who don't. With the exception of being on the Principals List a few times (which, the first time I told my folks about it they thought I was in trouble  :hilarious:) in junior high, I never really excelled academically. Did very well on the varsity soccer team and in drafting class my junior and senior years in high school, though...! ;)
I never have, nor ever will, harbor any resentment of those who are more intelligent, in whatever way, than I am. We are all dealt a different hand, and, hopefully, make the best of what we feel we can do with it. :)
Ha!! That's both funny and sad that your parents thought being on the Principal's list meant you were in trouble. Ours was call the Principal's Honor Roll, so no confusion there.
That's the thing...there are all different kinds of intelligence and giftedness. One kid is a stellar athlete. (That was definitely NOT me. I can trip over air.) Another can sing or draw or write. Another is great with computers and gadgets. This "every kid gets a trophy" herd mentality is not good for anyone's self esteem in the long run. Kids aren't allowed to explore their talents and find out what they are truly gifted at, and every kid has SOMETHING. DD does really well in school, but she turns over her papers so no one can see her grades and feel bad if they didn't do as well on a test.(She actually came home bursting with pride last week for her friend because the friend improved so much in spelling and math. She was happier for her friend than she was for herself) But she is also super happy for a kid who is athletic and does well in PE, even though she might be more uncoordinated than I am, and that is saying something. Give kids some credit for being empathetic and understanding that they can't be good at everything. And it's ok for kids to see others succeed and do well. It teaches them to work hard to emulate that and to find the area where they shine themselves. And it teaches them good sportsmanship. I think we underestimate kids' ability to understand each other and the world around them. They are more aware than we give them credit for.

Ha!! Mine says I grew up in New England. I don't think I've even been to New England...New York is not considered part of New England, is it?

And then I took the fast food quiz to see where I was from. Hmpf I moved again. Thinking I should be living somewhere West.

The southwest has got it all! Whether you want tacos, burgers, or BBQ, you can have your choice of the finest in fast food cuisine any day of the week.

With the hot weather, who wants to cook, anyway?

I got "Northeast", which I guess is pretty close to New England. Interesting. These are fun!

I'm similar. I can read pretty fast, but my comprehension doesn't always keep up, so I find myself going back and rereading stuff to make sure I got it as best as I feel I can.
Happens here too, so couple that with the fact that I'm such a slow typer, and it's one of the reasons I'm always so far behind here... :cyclops:
Yeah, sometimes I this problem where a word from a sentence 3 lines below will jump up into the sentence I'm reading, and the sentence doesn't make sense. I'll read it 3 or 4 times and can't make sense of it. So I'll go back to the beginning of the paragraph and it's like a reset button...the word is no longer there and I understand it and then as I read further, I see where that word came from. Now that I know that, I can deal with it, but it does mean reading things over and over sometimes, which is why it takes me so long. Having to read every word rather than skim, AND having to read things multiple times, it can take me a while.
