Ivory Tower Squabble EST 2011. WINDMILL SURVIVOR
Yeah, like that will ever happen...

I haven't driven with my dad in the car since I got my license. He was too nervous to even teach me how to drive. My mom taught me, and he took me out on a few occasions. My mom I've driven multiple times. Although last time I drove her, she was giving me instruction, and I said, "Mom, I've been licensed for five years now..."

Just wait for it someday...I had my son in the car with me, I was driving and he kept point to things, noting cars coming to me...kept scaring the crud out of me.
He so is Not use to being a passenger anymore.

@MySmallWorldof4 yup we cut the cord so to speak a while back. One of my boys likes hulu and my dh and other ds like netflix so we've had both for 2 months when we realized we never watched cable anymore so off it went. The only thing we don't have is CBS which we pick up on antenna. We will be getting their streaming in the fall for Star Trek but even adding that saves us a small fortune.:joyfull:

I spent the afternoon watching the new Beauty & The Beast. My favorite parts are when the Beast sings Evermore, and when the Beast and Belle go to Paris. Both scenes are tear jerkers for me. Then there's the library scene, and the snowball scene. Great stuff. I love the Beast. His facial expressions are wonderful. My grandson takes the Blue-Ray copy, and I keep the packaging with the DVD copy.
I won't be able to pick up my copy until tomorrow:(. Too many end of school year things to do:mad:

In other news, I just got a monstrous nostalgia hit.

I never knew there were these kind of bands around..

They feature a TON of 80's and 90's cartoon theme songs, particularly in spanish.
So hearing them in the spanish I heard them when I was a kid is a huge win for me.
Now excuse me while I clean some manly tears!
OMG that was so cool! I didn't have time to watch the whole thing but loved ghostbusters. I remember listening to it walking to the HM once upon a time.:joyfull:

I would love to cut the cord. My kids only seem to watch on demand now. The big thing is my dh needs his sports like the Golf Channel. We already have Netflix too. How do you get Hulu? Through your tv or do you have an Apple tv or something else? Where will you strream CBS from?

Growing up we never played Pickleball. I had never heard of it until I started working at my current school. But growing up we had tennis courts near our middle school and in high school there was a community center connected to our school so we played racquetball there, so I guess that covered the Racket portion of our PE curriculum. I really didn't care for gym class at all but racquetball and tennis were fun to play. We also played wally ball in the racquetball courts, which was like volleyball/racquetball. I didn't care for that so much.
Oh I loved wallyball, but then we didn't do that for PE. I hated PE...our school district only required 2 years of it, so I did freshman and junior years..freshman year we did badminton, and pickleball. I am just not at all athletically inclined. But my brother and I would sometimes get a group together to go to the rec center and play wallyball. There was a girl who was homeschooled and spent HOURS at the rec center practicing racquetball and wallyball and swimming and running...she was very athletic and because she didn't have regular school hours, she had hours to devote to sports, so at one time, she was something like 4th in the nation for racquetball. But she was such a witch...so rude and arrogant. One day we were playing wallyball and there was this space upstairs where you could look down into the courts and watch the game. This girl was standing up there watching and shouting down insults, then invites herself to come play with us. I missed a hit because she was diving all over the place showing off and the rest of us were trying not to hit her, and she looks at me and says "This is a BALL. You are supposed to HIT it over the net, like THIS." Really condescending...so I made a comment to her, which I will not repeat here because it's not appropriate. But she got the point and shut her trap and never invited herself to play with us again. Being a small town, word got around and apparently everyone was shocked that I had said this because I was known for being shy and quiet and not at all mean, not to mention being a prude. But MAN she made me mad.

Hulu, CBS and netflix all work mostly the same way. Hulu and CBS both have some sort of free trial but hulu has commercials on their cheaper service. There are sports streaming services but I'm not sure how they work or what they cost. Every tv is set up differently. We have cheap roku sticks for the dumb tvs, one tv has a computer run to it. I'd pay good money to figure out what every wire in my house was for. You may want to check out the cost on line to see how you'd make out without cable.

At least y'all have options for cable or satellite. Over here we have sky or sky or sky or sky (or freeview ( about 12 channels)) or yoi could go netflix hulu etc but that relies on having good interweb ... which we don't.

6 weeks beats a few days here and there. James has no vacation for the next 4 years due to band and chorus:(
I'd rather have the few days here and there because then I wouldn't have to keep the kids occupied for 6 weeks. I don't know how parents in the US do it for 3 months!! 6 weeks and I'm ready to send them packing! Of course all our activities get suspended for the summer..there's no more chess club or musical lessons, no more soccer or choir...so the kids are home all day every day and bored and they want ME to find something "fun" for them to do since I won't let them play on the computer or watch tv all day every day. The worst is that we don't usually get much nice weather here...it rains most of the time, so you can't always send them outside to play.

We have so -called Smart TV's so I am wondering if we would even need something like an Apple tv or roku. We actually have Sling and Hulu available on our TV's. I never thought about cutting cable until recently. We bundle our TV, internet, and phone. Our bill is just off the wall and dh and I don't really watch much TV anymore. We have shows DVR'd from 6 months ago that we have yet to watch. Thinking I could save at least $150 a month. I tried to go to Xfinity which is our cable company and see what just internet and phone will cost and the website won't give me a number. I hate calling. How do you get your internet and tv? From your cable company?
