I was experiencing tremendous joint pain. It got to the point that sleeping was impossible - the pain in my right hip was incredible. Most nights was spent sitting up in a chair or the side of the bed. Living in a house that is mostly stairs...the knee pain was not helpful. The docs couldn't find anything wrong, and the strongest thing that I would willingly take was Advil. So, I begun my search for a ranch house- and downsize. 3 floors of living space down to one. Anyway, around the same time I decided - for health reasons - to put myself on a low sugar, gluten-free diet. I began to drop some weight but 3 weeks into the diet I noticed that I was not in so much pain and beginning to sleep the whole night in my bed. I then noticed that I could go up and down the stairs without a problem. Some reading on gluten revealed that some of the components of gluten can cause joint inflammation which MIGHT HAVE BEEN the case with me. So, it's been really good since October. Maintaining gluten-free is not that difficult with all the products on the market now. But this has been my experience and may not work for all.

That's awesome that you found some relief! I definitely feel better when I eat better and take out processed foods. I've switched over completely to all organic foods, too. It's something about the hormones/sulfates/sugars/gluten that triggers an increase in pain. The trouble is, the pain still doesn't go away, it just is worse when I encounter my triggers.

Thank you so much for sharing! Hopefully, someone will really benefit from your experience!! :):D

No limits here. I am going to buy 2 x 72 packs @ Costco tomorrow, in anticipation of the upcoming cold season.

On another note, I got my flu shot on Saturday.
Again, I know some folks are pro, and others con.

Despite working in sales, with folks who are often newly immigrated, I have not had the flu in the 15 or so years that the gov't has been offering free shots.

Yea, I decided to get one when they offered during my fun hospital stay a few weekends ago.
Haven't had one in years, and also haven't had the flu in years, either, but, ya' never know.
Also, I've never had an issue from the shots. We got them for several years after super premie DS came into the world, 'cause of chronic lung issues that have long since resolved themselves.

Perchance to dream?

Funnily enough, I have been aware of having had multiple dreams in the past three days; after weeks and weeks of no dreams.
My sleep is often broken into such small segments that I never really have the chance to enter into dream-inducing REM sleep.

Some nights I have dreams running into dreams, and remember them very vividly. :jawdrop:  :joyfull:
Other nights, I don't remember squat. :bored:

Well, that sounds like a fun diversion this weekend! Although I don't follow Formula 1 racing, I'll bet it's exciting to watch in person. Will you be going to the concerts?

Actually, I'll be stayin' away from all a' that like the plague, again this year. ;)
I'd actually LOVE to go see the race some year, soon, though. With another seven years left on the existing contract, I should be able to fit it in one year. Plus, if things keep goin' the way they have, so far, the contract will likely be renewed. :)

THIS is an amazing attitude! And so hard to get to... I don't have arthritis, but deal with chron pain. I think I love the world so much because it is so immersive that it takes me away from reality for a bit. Going for another diagnostic test this Thur - drs can't figure out what the real root of my pain is, but they are thinking outside of the box and I am greatful for that! Half the battle is staying positive, right? :)

So sorry you are having to deal with all of that. :(
Prayers the docs dial it in and get ya' some relief, soon! :)

Prayers to you, too. Hope ya' continue to feel better! :)

Our oldest DD has switched to gluten free 'cause of health issues, and swears by it.
She's also a vegetarian, but, this ol' dude ain't about to down that road...! :D

Oh no, I don't do vegetarian. I do go through phases of not eating meat - doesn't last too long.
But maintaining a low Sugar/gluten diet has helped me tremendously.

I was vegetarian for a while, now I just don't eat pig or cow. No religious meaning behind my avoidance, just don't really like pig or cow and it makes me kind of sad to eat them - since they care for their babies.

As for chickens, turkeys, fish, crab - for some reason, I have no problem eating them. I get some strange looks when I describe my eating habits!:eek:o_O
