Ivory Tower Squabble EST 2011. WINDMILL SURVIVOR
Hi....I just wanted to say I'll be gone for a bit. I got a call about an hour ago that my dad passed away. It was peaceful, they aren't sure what caused it. He had just been to the doctor about a stomach bug yesterday and the doctor gave him a clean bill of health and said he could live for years. God, I just said yesterday I hoped he had years, but couldn't complain if he was taken because he had 84 years...I take that back. I didn't think it would be less than 24 hours. Anyway...my brain isn't functioning...sorry. It's 3 a.m. and I can't DO anything because it's the middle of the night and nothing will be open until morning, but anyway, I will be headed for the States as soon as I can manage it, so that's why I won't be here. I would appreciate prayers and positive thoughts and pixie dust and whatever you can throw my way. Thanks!

God Speed, sympathy, {{{BIG HUGS}}} my friend. So sorry. :(

During the credits for the animated version? It's a rendition of Beauty and the Beast by Celine Dion and Peabo Bryson.
Sorry for not being clear. Its not the "animated" version of the movie.
I mean after the ending of the live action movie... Before the TEXT credits roll, they present ALL the characters in their respective movie clothing with the actor name. They move, smile, etc.. There is a song in the background on this scene.
I said "animated ending". Because most movies just go straight to the text credits or have very simple animated credits.

You're probably right about all this. I just think to myself, if they lowered the room prices to more reasonable rates, wouldn't they fill more rooms?  :)
perhaps they do not want to fill higher than 95%. It adds a lot of costs of cleaning staff, Materials, degradation of the building areas, hotel transportation.
I actually facepalmed when Marni said they will remove the buses from one of the hotels that will be linked with the gondola system.

To save costs of course.

Yea, the short version from me, IMHO, is that DVC fit a certain niche from first inception, and made sense for certain families with different Disney vacation styles and frequency, (and still does for many), but, in a more measured scale. But, at this point the overconstruction of these units/complexes (and forgive my insensitivity to all affected by this horrible disease), is just a friggin' cancer on the resort, at this point. :bored:
They are messing up sooo much of what really made WDW resorts so special with these blights on the resort landscapes and waterscapes...pull your heads outta' your wallets already, you jacka**es...!!! :grumpy:

The first resort I saw messed up by DVC was AKL when they retrofitted rooms and did it quite poorly. Some like the Beach Club and Boardwalk were done well and the Floridian turned out pretty well. Now the Poly and WL with their waterfront strange invasion I am not a fan of. BLT at the Contemporary I waffle on, I don't mind its placement or what it has to offer I just wish it had matched the architecture and blended better with the Contemporary. I'm still a fan of the Original timeshare, OKW and similarly Saratoga Springs though that place is beyond massive, great place to ride a bike though right @epcotisbest ?

Absolutely. Your phrase, "more measured scale" stood out to me. You're right--DVC works very well for some; but ever since WDW has gone hog wild converting so many existing rooms over to DVC, in some beautiful resorts (especially the carnage now over at WL), it's just a major turn-off to me--and to others, if you read other threads about this topic.

My Goddaughter bought one a few years out of college. She was teaching, making good money and still lived at home, our families shared the love of Disney. Fast forward, she was married a few years later, had a baby a couple years later and just had a second baby just before Christmas when she, her hubby and baby moved into her parents home.

Where the decision of a DVC made sense less than a decade ago it doesn't now and she has points at both AKL and BLT. Obviously she could sell them but I can't see that happening if at all possible...but still. There is a demographic that can easily afford the investment. Woot! for them, no judgement. But I've seen so many get caught into the hype and the sale pitches that really should use some better long term judgement.

From what I've seen over the years there is an endless stream of people who jump in and buy in that really should have slept on it...for several years. I have a friend that was given a Disney Time Share for 2 weeks at WL Home Resort.
He and the wife didn't stay married long, they each got a week of points with the settlement. He married eventually again and new wife can't stand Disney.
So once a year he goes down to Disney by himself 'cause he has the points.

And do you remember going to the library in the days before privacy concerns and being able to see everyone who had read the book before you?

or a mimeograph machine with purple ink and intoxicating smell

or the days before the invention of the plastic grocery bag?

or do you remember the day you actually rolled the window down and could break a rib or two if someone closed the door for you too quickly?

or when slides were tall, metal and burnt your tushie?

Ha! I love this grouping. Pre-computer days at the library had little effect on the efficiency of the write-in/stamped cards for taking out books--it was a system that worked very well. (I never knew the names of people who signed out the books before me--it wasn't like I actually hung out with a literary circle of friends. ;))

I think everyone loved the smell of that purple ink! :p

Lastly, our (2007) car has roll-up windows! Retro rules!! :joyfull:

Good points you raised above. Although, I think the gondola system would cost a lot of money--not sure, in that case, if it's cheaper to run the buses from one of the hotels. Even with paying the drivers, mechanics, fuel costs, etc., I would still image the gondola system would cost quite a bit more.
