Good day to everyone. We had a very nice spring break with the boy's. We did things around here, and it was fun.. Now for the bad news...I'm full of it this year, aren't I? Over the week-end my sister called and my brother-in-law, was trimming a tree...he fell off the ladder and broke 6 vertebrae in his back. He is going to be laid up for three month's. Time for a trip with my sister and brother-in-law. If he is well enough, we are going on the Oasis to Puerto Rico this time. It's a new place for us. We are excited to be back on the boat, again. I hope everyone is doing really well, I'm plodding along...helping the daughter get her house on the market. It's nice today....60 with sun, tomorrow...rain and snow. Typical, typical. I just got back from the grocery, and it's time to fix lunch. Talk with you all later....and trying to do some ketchup!:eek::eek:

Hi, @betty rose ! I was wondering when you would pop in! Nice to see you!! I just got back on here and have missed way too much to ketchup on...so what's new with you?
A lot of crazy stuff. Mostly medical issues, and dd and husband split after 28 years. It's been dividing our time with the kids and helping dd get the house on the market. We celebrated the boy's birthday's, and are celebrating the son-in- law's birthday this Sunday. Will be interesting...

I remember most of those. The library cards were a fun part of my first job in the library.Making sure they were pulled before the book went back on the shelf.

About that slide, it still exists in the UP. It always bothers me a bit. It is at Black River Harbor, right by a suspended bridge that leads to Lake Superior's shore.
Here is the bridge

And, not it exactly, but here is what the slide at the little playground looks like

Oh wow. Have not seen those on 2 decades. A few were left when my kids were tiny but quickly disappeared. When I was small a few students per year fell and busted legs and arms. Slide stayed. Always fall blamed on a kid

I like OKW, just not the location. I love the layout and I think it is the most spacious of all the DVC's. HHI also uses the same floor plans as OKW, and my family loves that DVC. It is really beautiful and so peaceful. Our favorite end of summer vacation place. The only sad part is when we go it is the end of the summer. So why wait until end of summer to go? Because the rate drops by over $200 a night for a 2 bedroom!:)
And the very reason I took my kid out of school in the fall. So much cheaper and less crowded. If I waited till later in October it wasn't as humid either

Sorry about your BIL but a trip to PR sounds like fun.

Ha! I love this grouping. Pre-computer days at the library had little effect on the efficiency of the write-in/stamped cards for taking out books--it was a system that worked very well. (I never knew the names of people who signed out the books before me--it wasn't like I actually hung out with a literary circle of friends. ;))

I think everyone loved the smell of that purple ink! :p

Lastly, our (2007) car has roll-up windows! Retro rules!! :joyfull:
Actually roll down windows were pretty reliable. Only problem is if your driving alone and the need to roll up a window and passenger side is rolled down.
