Kinda reminds me how Warner Bros have re released many of their old cartoons that could have been considered very rude by today standards. And all of them had warnings explaining so.
Reminds me of the whole overreacting of some groups about the "outrage" of making a minor character gay in a Disney movie.
I'm still planning on seeing BATB

I drafted a pattern for a halter dress:joyfull: Sadly that's as far as I've gotten so far:( Tomorrow I hope to at least get a muslin cut out and started:joyfull:

So, am I understanding this correctly? Do you first make an entire dress out of muslin and then make it again out of the material you want (after you work out the glitches from the muslin dress first)? That's a lot of work right there. I could understand it if the material you like costs a lot of money. But I guess I'm more surprised, only because you sew a lot (unlike me), and I figured you were probably an expert at this point.

On second thought--I assumed you had a paper pattern, right? Or, maybe I completely misunderstood--are you saying that you "create" you own pattern, yourself, and cut out muslin for the pieces--and then cut the material you like, to the muslin "pattern" you made?

I have a book that tells you how to draft a pattern, from there I take my measurements and draw my own pattern, then I take some super cheap fabric and make a mock up of the dress but without facings, binding, hems and such and the skirt portion is only long enough to get past my hips. It's a just in case something is off so I don't waste pretty fabric. I'm short waisted and my measurements don't fit standard sizing so it's a bit of work to do it this way but will save me time and money in the long run. I've wanted a good haler dress for quite a while and I'm going to take my time and get it to fit me right. Most of my sewing over the past year or so was pants and shirts for leisure wear and mostly not for me:( That and a quilt for my bed:joyfull:

The food sounds delish! Did you eat at the sit-down restaurant inside? I'm trying to recall if Germany also had a QS as well.

GORGEOUS photos!!!!!!!!!!!! Every time you go there, your excellent pictures keep getting better and better--if that's even possible?! :)

Thank you for your picture compliment. And we just ate at the flower and garden kiosk. In June we have reservations for the Biergarten .

My wife used to do that. It is when you are designing something, not for a purchased pattern unless you have to make some unusual adjustments to it. You make it out of a cheap material and when it is fine tuned you take it apart and use the muslin (or whatever) pieces as the pattern when using the expensive stuff. At least that is what she told me. Personally, I can barely thread a needle or sew on a button so I took her word for it.

When we were first starting out, very close to dirt poor status, she made all the clothes for our girls. They never even saw a label on a piece of clothing until they were near the end of elementary school.

WTH... where did you get that I was comparing you to the whities in the movie. Seriously! I said that because todays generation understood what was going on (your family) that is why I felt that back in the 90's when the movie was shelved was not because it was offensive to blacks it was because it upset the whites, of the time, because it depicted them as cold, heartless and not to bright.

I'm a little upset that after all the posts that I have made on here you would even think that I would make that kind of comment about your family. I don't even know them for heavens sake. And if I did, I would have more class then to make such a statement. Re-read my post and see if it makes more sense to you now. Perhaps I do come across as an asshat to you, but, you are the one reading stuff into my statements. And I have never, ever called you an asshat mostly because I never considered you one. Thanks for the evaluation of me though.

As I stated in my post, if that's not what you meant/intended, I retract. Therefore, I totally retract, with sincerest apologies.
I have re-read that post several times, and, to me anyway, although I see your point, it still could go either way...a little more clarification would have helped.
As far as referring to you as an "asshat", well, let's just say I'm an asshat for doing that to you. Name calling is never acceptable, and not something I normally do, and again, you have my sincerest apologies.
Let's just say, you can come across as a bit "gruff" sometimes...?
And, I now also realize I went against one of my own tenants around here...no political talk. Although I thought I was discussing the historical and entertainment value of a classic Disney film, I now realize there is no getting away from the political aspect of it. Big mistake on my part, because, as per usual, it never ends well.
In conclusion, when I'm wrong I never run and hide from it...I own it. I was very wrong on this with you, and again, my sincerest apologies to you.
