I've never been to either destination...definitely bucket list stuff, though. Egypt is definitely more fascinating to me than creepy.
So glad you had such a great time in Hawaii!
And, I keep forgetting, you're quite a few years younger than I, and only ever saw those Brady Bunch episodes in reruns...! :)

Yep they were all on reruns, but I did watch it on a tv that was hooked up to an antenna! We had 6 stations on a good day, three of them were PBS. Sometimes we would get an additional NBC station bringing the total to 7!

I tell you, if when I was a kid the tooth fairy paid what she does now, I would have pulled them all out on my own. I know a friend of my daughters that has a tooth fairy that give out $20.00 a tooth. That's carrying the fantasy a little to far in my mind.

Woof! $20...!!!
The most I ever remember getting was a quarter.
And, I'm pretty sure the most we ever gave any of our kiddos was $1... :cyclops:

Hahaaa...!
I definitely remember those antenna days!
I also remember when dad surprised us one evening when he came home a little late from work with our first color TV...!!!!! :joyfull: :)

I know nothing about home appliances/machines, so I asked Mr. Google about this, and the average lifespan (depending upon various factors) is 8 to 12 years for a water heater. (MOXOMUMD just had hers break recently.)

In the last place we lived in (3-family unit house), we lived on the first floor. One day, I saw steam coming from the crack in the basement door, that led to the kitchen. I opened the door and saw a lot of steam. Hubs went down to the basement and the water heater busted--water all over the basement floor. (Luckily, our landlord put in a call right away to his plumber, and it was replaced within a day.)

Yep, this one is at least 18-ish years old. Very lucky, so far, but, I'm just waitin'... :cyclops:

So I was a little wrong in my post that TCM was sponsoring the showing of "Singin' In the Rain" due to Debbie Renyolds passing away. Apparently they have a whole series planned to show in theaters across the country this year, a big screen classic film festival of sorts. This just happened to be the first film they planned to show for the year. Here is a link to what they plan to show in theaters this year: https://www.cinemark.com/tcm There is going to be a showing of Casablanca, another of my favorite films later this year so I might have to plan on that, but that isn't until November.

Anyway, seeing "Singin' in the Rain" on the big screen was fabulous! It was the way it meant to be seen. I was so entranced by the end of it I was so sad it was over. Although the lady in the row behind me left to go to the bathroom right when the Singin' in the Rain number started, who in their right mind leaves during that! It is the highlight of the film! Anyway, it was a great time. It will be shown again in theaters on Wednesday night so if you want to go check the theaters in your area.

Oh and we had dinner at 5 Guys, excellent!:)

So glad y'all had an awesome night, and thanks for the info! :)
I've seen Casablanca more times than I've seen Singin' in the Rain, but they're both great flicks!
Another one of my favorites was on TCM this afternoon...Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House. Cary Grant and Myrna Loy...quite a bit of fun in that one...! :)

I'm actually okay with Hawaii despite those episodes. I didn't see those until after 6th grade, why is 6th grade important you might ask? In 6th grade a classmate of mine (her family owned what is now Jenny-O/Turkey Store) went to Hawaii and she came back with lots of stories. Our Social Studies teacher even played a video she brought back for us to watch from the Polynesian Cultural Center. That was also the year there was a big Beach Boys special shown from Waikiki beach at the Hilton. So it became my dream to go there, I dreamed about waking up to a view of Diamondhead. That dream came true in 2007, about 20 years later, it was to celebrate getting my master's degree. I cried the moment I stepped out on my balcony at the Hilton and had the view of Diamondhead. I think it also helped that nothing bad happened to that classmate of mine, it was all fun and sounded magical.

By the time I was a sophomore in high school and my World History teacher showed us the slides of his vacation to Egypt (in the early 1980's) and him crawling through tunnels in the pyramids my fear was already stuck. Although, I was fascinated with his pictures and part of me still wants to go there even though I'll be creeped out the whole time.
The Hilton is a lovely resort. The views are gorgeous. I prefer Aulani because of their awesome pools (and because minus the views of Diamondhead, I'm not a fan of Waikiki).

I actually did have a really bad trip to Hawaii in 2013, although not like the Brady Bunch episode. It was right after high school, and I was generally not in good health. We had gone to Disneyland and then to Aulani. I was fine in Disneyland, had a great time. We got to Aulani, and they were having an unusually wet summer. My allergies were terrible. I couldn't go outside at night, despite high doses of allergy meds. I was better during the day, but I felt so bad that I was basically stuck at the resort. Not that it was a bad place to be stuck, but I was not having a great time. It was a whole lot of sitting on a lounge chair. We nearly had to get off the plane home because I was not breathing well at all and we were debating an ER trip, but I told my mom, "Please just get me off this rock." Thankfully, we had a stop in Denver where I did a breathing treatment and started feeling better. And then I got home and had an emergency room trip two days later at home. A change in meds helped overall, and my next trip there was much better.

My parents are talking about doing another Disneyland/Hawaii trip this summer. I'm not planning on going since there's no way I can take the time off from work. I'm not sure whether I'll go for their August WDW trip. I was thinking I would, but I have such horrible seasonal affective disorder that I think I need to go south in January and maybe just come for a long weekend in August.

I think you had reported this before. Was it in the old Saget thread before it went to crap?
Allergy attacks definitively aren't fun.
