Yippee-- we got out at 2:00 today. GREAT way to spend my last day in that job. After New Year's, I start the new one. (No rest for the weary . . . LOL . . ) What I love about getting out early (the few times we do), is that you get to do other things with the time. I went to the bank and made a deposit--someone gave me cash for Christmas--I love people like that!!
Now, as for your dear hubs, I am sorry to hear that he is still not well yet. Probably, the stress of Christmas and all the extra people at church may have thrown him off. He will get well soon I'm sure; and most likely, it's just rest that he needs. Tell him he needs to build up his endurance for when he next joins the Dapper Dans -- those guys are awesome, and I know that your hubs is a favorite guest artist to their group!
French dip sandwiches? My hubs LOVES those . . . and they're really hard to find out here. Food goes through trends and French dips are not in vogue around here for the past many years.
Another reason we don't go out on N.Year's Eve is the increased number of intoxicated people behind the wheel--no thanks.
OK, so it's a chain and not considered authentic, but, we had a gift card, and it was darn tasty anyway...!!!

Yes please!
I had one of these sandwiches a few years ago, and it was good. I would like to try it again with a different ice cream. I had salted caramel, which was good, but something with more chocolate might be even better.
Me, I always enjoy Olive Garden. Cracker Barrel another. For chains they are very reliable, good food.OK, so it's a chain and not considered authentic, but, we had a gift card, and it was darn tasty anyway...!!!

I love surprises and never peaked at my Christmas or birthday presents. It was no secret that Mom put the presents in her closet but I was never tempted to look. To me it was exciting that they were there and there would be fun things to see on Christmas morning or for my birthday. Once they were wrapped and put under the tree, they were fair game for a gentle shake or squeeze though.
When hubby and I got married we were talking about Christmas presents and he bragged about how he always peeked at his presents as a kid and said even when he was in college and beyond when he went home he snooped. He eluded to still thinking that he would snoop at his presents that he would get from me. That was when the conversation got serious, I turned to him and told him that if he snooped to see his presents from me ever and I found out I would return them or give them away. Until I gave them to him, it was my property and private and I didn't plan on snooping in his private property and I didn't expect him to invade mine. We were married, but we didn't have to share everything! In addition to being surprised for getting presents I have enjoyed more the surprise in giving gifts to people. To my knowledge he has never snooped, he must have realized that I would indeed return his presents or give them away. I actually booby-trap my bags so I will know if he has been in them.
Wait a minute . . . ALL those people are not from both sides of the family??? That's just ONE side of your family??
So . . . if BOTH sides of your family were to get together, I guess you'd need this venue to host the gathering:
This makes me think of Mater's quote. "He did what in his cup?" For the longest time that went right over my daughter's head until she finally realized what he meant. "Mom, did you hear what he said? " Yes, we watched this a few hundred times.
I made a trivet, out of the small glass tiles, very simple, we did this in art class.
You shouldn't feel the need to apologize for going to Olive Garden. It may not satisfy the "refined" pallet, but it is good food and I have never left hungry. Isn't the most expensive place either. I really like it, but, I don't go often because it is always crowded and I'm not old enough yet to have dinner at 4pm.OK, so it's a chain and not considered authentic, but, we had a gift card, and it was darn tasty anyway...!!!

To be honest, after my little jaunt to Italy last year, eating actual Italian food, O.G. is as close as I have ever found. I'm sure that I will get a lot of contradiction on that last statement, but, I found it to be true. I ate in local, authentic places in Venice, Rome and Florence and other parts of the Tuscany region and that is what I found.
Ours (not the real ones) are hidden inside because we almost always still have snow on Easter.
