That's exactly it....I don't understand how there is no one who is willing to do it, even if they got paid. And why aren't there any parents in the neighborhood sending their kids over to help? My kids aren't quite old enough for shoveling duty, but if I had teens and there was someone who needed work done, I'd be volunteering my kids to do it because it's the right thing to do!
I had a friend who's brother lived in this area for 10 years, because he said it was very unfriendly, and everyone kept to themselves. That was over 30 years ago, I guess things don't change.

Of course there was some fun. But far outweighed by the ick LOL. Especially as I got older.

I started moving closer and closer to the shore, got a job where I work a lot of evenings so I could go to the beach in the morning before work.

With all that, I realized the best I could do was maybe two solid months or a hair more. Then it would start getting cold again. I started dreading September.

I'm glad I grew up where I did, and I'm glad I left when I did! For me, there is an immeasurable benefit of markedly warmer weather throughout the year.

Little different scenario, we have Lake Michigan vs an ocean but what you stated is how I basically feel about the climate I live in and my dread. I hate fall not because of the weather or the changing leaves...its knowing it is the calm before the storm of snow, cold, stick trees and cooped up indoors, no more bike rides through the trails and this goes on and on for at least 8 months.

Well, I got my baking done for today. I work tomorrow, so I have to bring treats for my birthday. So I made 4 loaves of zucchini bread, a batch of brownies, a double batch of fudge, and about 130 oreo truffles. (large company) Then when I get home tomorrow, I have to start baking for the treats to take to choir...only 40 people in choir, so I can make a bit less. But this will be my last rehearsal with this choir as I'm quitting and looking for a new one, so the treats are for birthday and for goodbye!

Hubby has a stomach bug...he thinks it might be Noro because he had to go to a nursing home the other day for work and apparently it was going around there. I really hope I don't get it. I don't have TIME to be sick!!
Stay well, I hope you don't get that.

You never had fun making snow angels? Or sledding? Or skiing? Or shoveling snow? Or having snowball fights with your pals in the backyard? You poor guy--missed out on all the fun. C'mon back up North and join in all the fun activities you missed as a kid! It could be your second childhood!
We did a lot of tubing and sledding when we first moved here. Now I like a fireplace, and a cup of hot chocolate.

How is everyone this evening? Little one still has some of the crud. Breathing has gotten better, but now she's developed a cough. Doctor told us to expect that, because the breathing treatment is breaking up all that junk in her chest. My wife and I are currently sleeping in different rooms (living at my parents home, we're in the process of building new home), and my daughter was coughing pretty hard crying "I want to go in Daddy's room". It melted my heart when my wife told me that. So I went and got her and let her sleep in my bed for the night. Which she slept well, however I didn't. My little girl, bless her heart, likes to sleep diagonal... With her legs across my chest. LOL!

I would like to have someone to cook for me, for a couple days. Between my hip injury, it's hard to move and get around. I was in so much pain last night, I could only sleep 4 hours. Didn't get to sleep until 1:30 A.M. And woke up at 5:30 A.M. this morning. I've been rocking in my chair to ease the pain. Everyone should have a nice padded rocking chair. It really did help!

So sorry to hear about your hip injury, I must have missed you talking about it. What happened? Is there anything that your doctor can give you, if only to help you sleep? I have been having back pain for a couple months now, to the point I could barely stand up out of bed in the morning. I finally went to get a medical massage last week, it really helped a lot. I'm going back next week for another. Perhaps something like that might help. I hope it gets better soon.

Sympathy like. I hope she's doing better.

For coughing at night, try having her sleep propped up against some pillows. She'll probably cough less sleeping that way. It's not the most comfortable, but it helps. Also, if you have a humidifier, try running it at night when she's sleeping. That should help as well. And yes, your doctor is correct in telling you to expect the coughing.

I had cough variant asthma as a child (still have asthma, though it's evolved into a different form) and have had bronchitis periodically throughout my life and pneumonia once, so I know how your daughter feels. I have one of those lovely nebulizers sitting next to my bed and a portable nebulizer that lives in my car. It's miserable sometimes.

This is now my last group project rant ever:

Me earlier today: Did you guys finish the PowerPoint due tomorrow that you were supposed to have finished by, um, yesterday?
Group member #1: Um, no
Group member #2: I need you to resend me the OneDrive link

I sent it last week when group member #2 asked for it.

Me tonight: Did you finish the PowerPoint
Group Member #1: I finished the first part
Group Member #2: I did my slides, I'll insert them now.

OneDrive (basically Microsoft Office onthe Internet) an hour later..

"Group Member #2 is editting the PowerPoint"

*sigh* I am so glad I never have to do one of these ever again.
