That is very disappointing. Granted, it was many years ago when my brothers would seek out snow shoveling jobs--they'd walk up and down the streets with their shovels and make a few dollars at various houses. I can guarantee you they would not turn down $50 today. Makes me wonder about the kids in your area--guess none of them are hungry . . .
(Also, my brothers would shovel for an elderly neighbor for just hot cocoa, as that was all she had to offer them. They accepted willingly, and never took a dime from that woman. My brothers were far from saints, but they were decent, hard-working kids.)
