You are than more than welcome. Jim is lucky his job keeps him up on everything he's entitled to otherwise he'd be missing out on things.
Sadly, I didn't take advantage of it at all today. I had already had breakfast before I heard about it, then at lunch time I had a craving for Chinese buffet and they didn't have a freebee. (apparently the Chinese don't give a tinkers damn about us veterans) Then I felt so guilty about how much I ate for lunch that for dinner I just had a few slices of cold meat, a tomato and half a cuke. I had those non-meat things to show gratitude for your information even if I didn't use it.:)

I got stuck with the violin. I wanted to play the flute but our music teacher said I was more suited to the violin. Geeky Asian, stereotyping much:rolleyes::cautious::mad::banghead::banghead:
you could have asked for a contrabass flute ;)

Believe me... I am. Just my medical care alone is priceless. I wouldn't be able to be retired if it wasn't for the VA. Amazingly, it was something that I never anticipated. Up until about 5 years ago I didn't even know it was available. But, it has been a godsend. For that I thank you folks for the support. It is so much better then a thank you for your service, it is a we really do care and appreciate what you gave up and risked for us.

I was a bit too young to have an understanding of Vietnam. Frankly and sadly I still do not have the grasp of it that I do of the World Wars. Vietnam was never really explained while I was in school in text books then. Still I am grateful for all those who have served regardless of where.

My Dad is now in an amazing veterans cemetary and in a wall. His little square shows the two times and two wars he served in along with his rank, name and span of life. A lovely park like setting honoring all those that now reside there. A fitting end for a man that served and a chunk of his life over 2 wars.

So like my Dad, I also thank you and all those who have served. It is an awesome sacrifice you all have made.

The boys are getting a Thomas Kinkade puzzle form Belle's shop for Christmas:joyfull: I'm glad they'll have something fun that not electronic. It's really beautiful so we're thinking of framing it and hanging it up once it's done:joyfull:

My DD always has loved puzzles. A little insight to me...I'm the type of person that makes puzzle pieces fit. I am very proficient at pounding pieces into areas and calling it good enough. DD doesn't allow me to play with the puzzles anymore.

Spent the day Phase #2 of fixing my Dad's Estate. What a mess. Attorney's Banks Brokers. Sis flew in to try and plow through some of the requirements. Fun Fun. Stage #3 will need to happen.

Lesson Learned, we will continue to onward and fix and put my Mom's Estate in better order.
I'm so sorry you're still dealing with everything. I hope things settle down so you can enjoy the holidays at least a little bit. Be well xoxo

Ha! That's so cute!! (And, ever so delicious looking on our favorite paper plate design! ;) )

At the hospital where I work, the management had a free breakfast for all the veterans on staff. None of us get the holiday off, so I'm happy that they do this, to recognize our staff veterans for their service.

Unfortunately, I live in an area where the VA Cemetery's are filled, and it doesn't appear that anyone is leaving anytime soon. I had to resort to buying one in a special veterans section of NC oldest municipal cemetery. That area has VA supplied headstones of the common Military Cemetery design with monuments to the different services in the area. Since both of us had made the decision to be cremated I have allowed my X to be buried there as well. (same lot) She passed with no money at all and the burden of paying for a suitable burial spot was going to fall on my girls. She will be there with a small ground plaque and when I pass... her information will also appear on the back of my headstone. At that point, I don't think that it really matters what the history was and it will make it easier on the girls.
