So it's report card day and every teacher wrote thing like courteous, helpful, thoughtful, cooperative, considerate and so on. i need to find who the boys swapped cards with:rolleyes:

:joyfull: That is funny, I often hear that sort of thing from parents when I talk about how respectful their child is. "They don't act like that at home, they are a sassy pants." was one comment I heard at conferences. :D

Oh, that is very nice! When hubs was a kid, their school would appoint a kid each week to be the "flag student". The student was responsible for taking the flag outside to the school janitor, and would assist in raising the flag in the morning, and taking down in the afternoon. We didn't have that my elementary school, but I did get to draw a flag on Veterans Day with our crayons. :)

I don't think my school had any Veteran's Day programs when I was growing up. Maybe we did something like coloring pictures in elementary but nothing that I can remember in middle or high school. Our band instructor, where I currently teach, is pretty big on honoring the Vet's so she organizes a nice program at our Middle/High School and the elementary. The community is invited to attend either ceremony and we usually get a decent crowd of community members.

In other news, I got a guitar. Our neighbors are moving to downsize, and they were just like, "Here, you want this?" And I'm not about to say no to a new instrument. I need to buy a guitar pick for it, and, ya know, teach myself to play, but before long, I should have at least a basic understanding of four instruments. :D

Especially if I no longer have to work Fridays and can put in more time practicing the guitar.

Cool about the guitar! I'll take a free one anytime! :)
What brand is it, and does it have metal or nylon strings?
It wasn't very difficult for me to pick up on. Since you already play two stringed instruments that are non-fretted, it should be easier. Plus, your callouses should already be built up for the fretting. I have minimal experience with the drums and piano, but, the guitar is the only instrument I can really play.
I have an electronic tuner around here somewhere that I purchased several years ago, but, I can't remember the last time I used it. I mostly tune by ear with an old school method...tighten the high "E" (note wise) string until it feels like it's about to snap, then tune the other 5 strings to it in the standard ear-tuning method/pattern.
I used to pull out the e-tuner sometimes after I ear-tuned to see how close I was. It's amazing how my ability to hear the proper tuning evolved over the years. Some are naturals, for others of us there is a learning curve, but, we eventually catch on. Others, no hope.
I have a lot of picks, but, I rarely use them. I much prefer finger picking.
I've only ever had one electric guitar before, but, it was a blast...!!! :joyfull:
So fun to hear the same songs played with a little added volume and distortion...! :)
Plus, guitars are very versatile and portable.
Have fun...! :)

Thank you! It's an Ibanez. Metal strings. I have a tuner from playing violin. Cannot tune by ear. It took some doing memorizing the strings, but I got it. EADGBE. I watched an instructional Youtube video and the instructor said to remember it by "Eddie Ate Dynamite Good Bye Eddie.":hilarious:

Hmmm....when I was much younger I was skiing down a run in CO and I got cut off by someone that had zero business being on a run of that difficulty. I swerved to avoid colliding and then there was this freak'n tree so I swerved again to go down a smaller hill that wound up not being a smaller side hill but a small cliff. Much different. And over I went. Messed up a knee a bit.

So if things are going to burn in CO, can that one single tree burn? :cyclops:

The first ski trip (to Red River, New Mexico) I ever went on was with DWifey and another couple.
The second one was a guys trip (DWifey and I were still dating) back to Red River a year later.
We were on a blue run in heavy snowfall and I was about 15 feet behind one of my buds.
All of a sudden he just disappeared straight down outta' sight...we were moving pretty fast, so, too late for me to do anything... :cyclops:
I braced myself. It was about a 6' dropoff in the middle of the trail. I landed on my skis, and managed to stay on them! VICTORY!!!!! :joyfull:
One of the coolest moments I ever had snow skiing...! :)

You're welcome! :)
Hahaaa...!!! :hilarious:
Too funny!!! I was taught to remember it as eat a darn good breakfast early! Something you would probably be averse to - early-wise that is...! :D ;)
Wonder if that other version somehow has something to do with Eddie Van Halen...his preferred brand of guitar has always been Ibanez...!!!!! :joyfull: :hilarious: :)

Wait! I managed to hop on for the first time in a few weeks just in time for a music discussion?? How fortuitous! Except that guitar is one of the weakest links in my musical repertoire. Although I spent 4 years playing bass in a classic rock/oldies band, keyboard and brass instruments are really where I live. I had a nice Yamaha dreadnought-style acoustic that gathered a lot of dust and got me to learn about 6 chords and how to barre. Donated it to 'that school' where I used to teach a few years back. Now I'm missing it!

Haven't ever been on a cruise, but I can really identify with watching behind-the-scenes. I love watching what goes on in any business, behind-the-scenes. I've always been curious, just like you, Bets!

Same here. I have always loved to know how things work. That's why I also love behind-the-scenes Disney Imagineering information of any kind! For me anyway, it makes it all even more Magical...! ;) :)
